Now, Hisam Jawhari is facing off against Roland Marez from Dallas, Texas, and his Odd-Eyes Magician Deck! Marez’s Deck puts a new competitive spin on Pendulum Summons. Which Duelist will prevail? We’re about to find out! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Marez won the die roll and chose to go second.

Marez

Jawhari opened up with Speedroid Terrortop, Barbar, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Tour Guide From the Underworld, and 2 copies of The Phantom Knights of Ancient Cloak. He Special Summoned Terrortop from his hand and activated its effect to add Speedroid Taketomborg from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Special Summoned Taketomborg and combined it with Terrortop to Xyz Summon Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss in Defense Position! He detached Taketomborg to activate Dante’s effect and send Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Solemn Strike, and Phantom Knights’ Fog Blade from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Libic’s effect to Special Summon Barbar from his hand with its effect negated and then Normal Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld. He activated Tour Guide’s effect to Special Summon Graff from his Deck in Defense Position. Next, he combined Graff with Tour Guide to Xyz Summon another Dante in Defense Position, and detached Graff from Dante to send Maxx “C”, Speedroid Terrortop, and Raigeki from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard with Dante’s effect. He activated Graff’s effect to Special Summon Cir from his Deck in Defense Position and then ended his turn.

Turn 1 Field

Marez Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and activated its effect to add Performapal Guitartle from his Deck to his hand. He activated Guitartle in his Pendulum Zone and then activated Performapal Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone. He used Guitartle’s effect to draw a card and then used his Lizardraw’s effect to send it to the Extra Deck and draw another card. He activated Sky Iris next, and used its effect to destroy his Skullcrobat Joker, sending it to his Extra Deck, and add Odd-Eyes Fusion from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Odd-Eyes Fusion! He sent Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon and Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon from his Extra Deck to his Graveyard to Special Summon Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon from his Extra Deck in Defense Position. He used his Vortex Dragon’s effect to return Barbar to Jawhari’s effect. Next, Marez activated Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer in his Pendulum Zone and activated Wavering Eyes. He cleared the Pendulum Zones, dealt 500 points of damage to Jawhari, and added Wisdom-Eye Magician to his hand. He activated Wisdom-Eye and Dragonpit Magician in his Pendulum Zones and then destroyed the Wisdom-Eye with its effect to replace it with Oafdragon Magician. Next, he performed a Pendulum Summon! He Pendulum Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his hand and Wisdom-Eye Magician, Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, and Skullcrobat Joker from his Extra Deck. He used his Pendulum Sorcerer’s effect to destroy his own Sky Iris and add Performapal Monkeyboard from his Deck to his hand with his Sorcerer’s effect.

Odd-Eyes Pendulum Summon

Next, he combined Master Pendulum with Skullcrobat Joker to Xyz Summon Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer in Defense Position and activated its effect. He activated Draco Face-Off next, and Special Summoned Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck, sending Vector Pendulum to his Extra Deck. Then, he Tuned Luster Pendulum with Wisdom-Eye Magician, Summoning Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer! He activated its effect to Summon Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck and then used his Oafdragon Magician’s effect to add Wisdom-Eye Magician from his Extra Deck to his hand. Next, he combined Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer with Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller. He then activated his Ignister Prominence’s effect to destroy his own Dragonpit and return a Dante to Jawhari’s Extra Deck. Next, he entered his Battle Phase and activated Abyss Dweller’s effect by detaching an Xyz Material from it. He attacked and destroyed Dante with Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer and attacked Cir to destroy it with Abyss Dweller. Abyss Dweller’s effect prevented their effects from activating, and Jawhari was left with a clear field! In the End Phase, he added Archfiend Eccentric from his Deck to his hand with the effect of his Majester Paladin.

Turn 1 Part 2

Jawhari Set Horn of Heaven and The Phantom Knights of Ancient Cloaks before passing his turn.

Marez activated Archfiend Eccentric in his Pendulum Zone and sent it to his Extra Deck to take down Horn of Heaven with its effect. Next, he activated Monkeyboard and used its effect to search for Lizardraw to add to his hand. He activated Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer’s effect next, to destroy his own Monkeyboard and return Jawhari’s face-down monster to his Deck. He switched his monsters into Attack Position and then attacked directly with Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer, Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer, Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon, and Abyss Dweller, wiping out the rest of Jawhari’s Life Points!

Marez activated Performapal Guitartle and then activated Draco Face-Off; but Jawhari Chained Maxx “C”! He revealed Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord and Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck, and Master Pendulum was randomly selected. Marez Special Summoned it to the field in Defense Position, allowing Jawhari to draw a card, and then Vector Pendulum went to the Extra Deck. Next, Marez activated Performapal Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone, and Jawhari activated Twin Twisters by discarding The Phantom Knights of Silent Boots. He destroyed both cards in Marez’s Pendulum Zones! Marez passed his turn with no further play.

Jawhari activated the effect of Dante to send Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, and Horn of Heaven from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated their effects, and Marez Chained Maxx “C”! He combined his 2 Silent Boots to Xyz Summon another Dante, and detached an Xyz Material from Dante to send Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Scarm, and Anti-Spell Fragrance from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard with its effect. He attacked directly with all 3 copies of Dante, dropping Marez down to 500 Life Points. Jawhari banished Silent Boots from his Graveyard to add Phantom Knights’ Wing to his hand. He Set it face-down and then entered his End Phase. He added Graff to his hand with the effect of Scarm in his End Phase, and then Master Pendulum returned to Marez’s field.

Marez Normal Summoned Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and then Tuned it with his Master Pendulum to Synchro Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer! He activated its effect to Special Summon a monster from his Deck; but Jawhari negated the effect with Fog Blade. Next, Marez activated Pendulum Call. He discarded Bottomless Trap Hole to add Oafdragon Magician and Dragonpit Magician from his Deck to his hand. He placed them in his Pendulum Zones and then used his Dragonpit Magician’s effect to discard Vector Pendulum and destroy Jawhari’s face-down Fog Blade. Next, he tried to Pendulum Summon Vector Pendulum, Luster Pendulum, and Master Pendulum from his Extra Deck, as well as Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer from his hand; but Jawhari flipped Solemn Strike to negate the Summon! Marez Set a card to his back row and then ended his turn.

Jawhari drew Tour Guide From the Underworld. He detached Farfa from Dante to activate its effect and sent 3 cards from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard; but Marez Chained Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror to Dante’s effect! Next, Jawhari Summoned Tour Guide From the Underworld and activated another Dante’s effect to send 3 more cards from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. He banished Fog Blade from his Graveyard to Special Summon Silent Boots and then combined Silent Boots with Tour Guide to Xyz Summon Number 47: Nightmare Shark. He detached an Xyz Material from Nightmare Shark to allow it to attack directly, and then a direct attack from Nightmare Shark finished Marez off!

Hisam Jawhari wins the second Duel with Nightmare Shark!

Both Duelists began Side Decking, but with under two minutes left in the Round, they were unable to draw their opening hands quickly enough to begin a third Duel. As a result, when time in the Round was called, their Match was declared a tie.

Hisam Jawhari and Roland Marez are each moving on with a 1-0-1 record!
