Taylor Huynh is Dueling with Infernoid, a Deck that we might not see much of come Monday because of Reasoning getting hit on the Forbidden & Limited List. However, Huynh is making sure to take advantage of it while he can and is boasting a 3-1 record right now in the tournament. His opponent is Darrius Jackson who has chosen to play a Deck we see much more often: Kozmos. The impressive openings that this Deck can do with Kozmo Tincan coupled with the potential burst of damage it can deal with Kozmo Farmgirl has made this strategy a very popular choice, and Jackson believes it to be the correct one for this weekend.

Huynh won the roll and chose to go second.

Duel One:

Jackson started with Kozmotown and used it to shuffle back both Kozmo Strawman and Kozmoll Wickedwitch to draw two new cards. He Normal Summoned Kozmo Farmgirl and used its effect to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer from his hand. He used the effect of Kozmo Dark Destroyer to destroy itself, then triggered its other effect to Special Summon Kozmo Strawman. Next, he activated Kozmo Strawman to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer before he moved to End Phase. The Kozmo Dark Destroyer was destroyed and Special Summoned Kozmo Tincan, which he then activated and revealed Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmo Forerunner, and Kozmo Dark Eclipser. The Kozmo Dark Eclipser was randomly added to his hand while the rest were sent to the Graveyard.

Huynh opened with a hand of Instant Fusion, Solemn Warning, Twin Twister, Infernoid Decatron, and Infernoid Harmadik before he drew Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn. He began with the Normal Summon of Infernoid Decatron and used its effect to send Infernoid Patrulea to the Graveyard. He then banished the Infernoid to Special Summon Infernoid Harmadik. Huynh thought for a moment but ultimately chose to use Infernoid Harmadik to destroy Kozmo Tincan via its effect. He Synchro Summoned Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend using both of his Infernoids before he moved to Battle Phase, but when he tried to declare an attack this prompted Jackson to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Eclipser from his hand via the effect of Kozmo Strawman. Huynh moved to Main Phase 2 and used the effect of Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend to destroy Kozmo Dark Eclipser, which Jackson then triggered so he could add Kozmo Goodwitch to his hand. He Set Solemn Warning and ended his turn.

Jackson drew to four cards and fanned out his Graveyard to give it a look. He began by activating Kozmotown to add back Kozmo Dark Destroyer, then used the other effect to shuffle back Kozmo Goodwitch and Kozmo Tincan to draw to fresh cards. He activated Raigeki to blow away the Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend, then Normal Summoned Kozmo Soartroopers but lost out to Solemn Warning when he tried to activate its effect. He Set two to his back row and ended.

Huynh drew Burial from a Different Dimension for turn. He Normal Summoned Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn and sent Instant Fusion and Infernoid Attondel to the Graveyard. He followed it up with Instant Fusion and Special Summoned Elder Entity Norden, which then triggered to Special Summon Infernoid Decatron. He then sent both Elder Entity Norden and Infernoid Harmadick to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Hi-Speedroid Chanbara, but lost out to Solemn Strike. From there, Huynh banished a couple Infernoids from his Graveyard to Special Summon Infernoid Attondel and win the Duel!

The utility of Infernoid Decatron allows Huynh to pull ahead in the first Duel. Can Jackson make up the deficit with two consecutive wins?

Duel Two:

Huynh started with a hand of Twin Twister, Vanity’s Emptiness, System Down, and two copies of Infernoid Decatron. He Normal Summoned Infernoid Decatron and tried to use its effect, but Jackson had Effect Veiler to stop it. Huynh Set Vanity’s Emptiness and ended his turn.

Jackson drew and began with Upstart Goblin before he Normal Summoned Kozmo Farmgirl. He declared an attack with it over Infernoid Decatron, then triggered the Kozmo Farmgirl to add Kozmojo. He tried to use the effect of Kozmo Farmgirl to Special Summon another Kozmo, but Huynh Flipped his Set Vanity’s Emptiness to stop it. Jackson Set a back row and ended.

Huynh drew Infernoid Attondel for turn and considered his options. He ultimately chose to Normal Summon Infernoid Decatron and use its effect to send Infernoid Seitsemas to the Graveyard. He banished both Infernoids from his Graveyard to Special Summon Infernoid Attondel from his hand, then swung in with it and Infernoid Decatron. He moved to Main Phase 2 and overlayed both of his Infernoids for Number 38: Hope Harpinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy! He Set Twin Twister and ended.

Jackson drew and Normal Summoned Kozmo Tincan, then Set a back row. He moved to End Phase and activated the effect of Kozmo Tincan, which let him reveal Kozmo Dark Destroyer, Kozmo Sliprider, and Kozmo Dark Eclipser. The Kozmo Dark Eclipser was randomly added to his hand, while the other two hit the Graveyard.

Huynh drew Infernoid Patrulea for turn and moved to Battle Phase. He declared an attack with Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy, but Jackson activated the effect of his Kozmo Tincan to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer from his hand and blow away the Xyz! He moved to Main Phase 2 and activated System Down, banishing a couple Machines from Jackson’s Graveyard along with the on Field Kozmo Dark Destroyer. Huynh thought for a moment longer but ultimately passed.

Jackson drew and Normal Summoned Kozmo Soartroopers. He declared an attack with it before he passed it back to Huynh.

Huynh drew Reasoning, the best draw he could’ve asked for. He began with Twin Twister discarding his Infernoid Patrulea to blow away Jackson’s back row, then activated Reasoning. Jackson called Level 8 but Glow-Up Bulb Flipped right off the top as Huynh’s luck turned against him. He chose to end his turn.

Jackson drew for turn and looked at his Graveyard before he Normal Summoned Kozmo Soartroopers and overlayed both for Leviair the Sea Dragon. He used its effect to Special Summon Kozmo Farmgirl, then moved to Battle Phase where he attacked over Glow-Up Bulb with Leviair the Sea Dragon and directly with Kozmo Farmgirl to trigger its effect. He added Kozmoll Wickedwitch to his hand, which he immediately Special Summoned by banishing Kozmo Farmgirl to press for more damage. He banished Kozmoll Wickedwitch for Kozmo Dark Eclipser and that was enough damage to finish the Duel!

Duel Three

Jackson began with the Normal Summon of Kozmo Tincan as he Set two to his back row. He moved to End Phase and activated its effect, revealing Kozmo Soartroopers, Kozmo Forerunner, and Kozmo Dark Destroyer. The Kozmo Sliprider was randomly added to his hand as both Kozmo Forerunner and Kozmo Dark Destroyer hit the Graveyard.

Huynh started with a hand of Solemn Strike, Twin Twister, Infernoid Patrulea, and two copies of Infernoid Harmadik before he drew Rekindling. During his Draw Phase, Jackson Flipped a Set Anti-Spell Fragrance hoping to stifle an explosive opening. Huynh pressed onward as he banished Infernoid Harmadik from his hand to Special Summon Infernoid Patrulea, but in response to the Special Summon Jackson activated the effect of his Kozmo Tincan and banished it to Special Summon Kozmo Dark Destroyer. The Kozmo Dark Destroyer triggered and Huynh lost his Infernoid Patrulea. He Set Twin Twister, Solemn Strike, as well as Rekindling and ended his turn.

Jackson drew and Normal Summoned Kozmo Soartroopers. He moved right to Battle Phase and swung in with it and Kozmo Dark Destroyer. He then banished Kozmo Soartroopers to try to Special Summon a Kozmo, but Huynh responded with Solemn Strike to stop it.

Huynh drew System Down for turn and during his Standby Phase activated Twin Twister to destroy both of Jackson’s back row at the cost of Infernoid Harmadik. He then activated System Down to banish the on Field Kozmo Dark Destroyer as well as a bunch of Machines from Jackson’s Graveyard.

Jackson drew and Normal Summoned Kozmo Strawman. Huynh surveyed things for a quick moment and conceded!
