This weekend’s Dragon Duels have produced two winners: Lyndon Neff from Putnam, CT and Connor Perrotta from New York. The previous Dragon Duels this weekend were fought in Battle Pack: Epic Dawn Sealed, but this Championship match will be fought in Constructed Advanced format. Perrotta is piloting Burning Abyss while Neff has a Scrap Deck! How will a modern Deck deal with an old favorite? Let’s find out!

Game 1

Perrotta won the roll and elected for Neff to go first. Neff activated the Field Spell Scrap Factory, set Supply Squad and ended.

Perrotta Normal Summoned Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Special Summoned Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, overlaid for Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss, whose effect sent Tour Guide from the Underworld, another Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss and Dark Hole to the Graveyard. Dante attacked directly for 2500. In Main Phase 2, Dante switched to Defense position. Perrotta set 2 Spell/Traps and in the End Phase, Scarm’s effect added Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from Deck to hand.

Neff drew Supply Squad and set it alongside the other set Supply Squad and passed.

Perrotta drew, switched Dante to Attack Position, activated the effect, sending Fiendish Rhino Warrior, Vanity’s Fiend and Calcab, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss. Fiendish Rhino Warrior sent Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from Deck to Graveyard, activating its effect to Special Summon Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from the Graveyard. Perrotta then Normal Summoned Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, then Graff and Scarm were used to Xyz Summon another Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss! Its effect was activated, detaching Graff to send 3 cards to the Graveyard. Graff’s effect Special Summoned Barbar, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss and all 3 monsters attacked directly for game!

Game 2

Neff elected for Perrotta to go first. Perrotta set a monster and passed.

Neff set a Spell/Trap and passed. He activated Terraforming and searched for Scrap Factory. He Normal Summoned Scrap Shark then activating Scrap Factory causing Scrap Shark to destroy itself, triggering its effect to send Scrap Beast to the Graveyard. Shark being destroyed also triggered Scrap Factory, Special Summoning Scrap Golem from the Deck! Golem’s effect Special Summoned Beast from the Graveyard. Neff set a card, then Golem attacked into the face-down Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, whose effect Special Summoned Barbar, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from Perrotta’s hand with its effects negated. Beast destroyed Barbar in battle. In Main Phase 2, Golem and Beast were tuned together to Synchro Summon Scrap Twin Dragon! Neff passed here.

Perrotta drew for turn, and he Summoned Fiendish Rhino Warrior, then Special Summoned Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, then tuned the two monsters together to Synchro Summon Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss! Fiendish Rhino Warrior’s effect sent Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from the Deck to the Graveyard. Perrotta attempted to use Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss’s effect, sending Fire Lake of the Burning Abyss from hand to Graveyard, but Neff discarded Effect Veiler to negate it! In the End Phase, Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss searched for Tour Guide From the Underworld.

Neff Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera, used its effect to Special Summon Scrap Beast from the Graveyard, which Neff targeted with Scrapstorm! Neff sent a Scrap Beast from Deck to Graveyard, he drew a card then destroyed the Beast on the field. Scrap Factory triggered off Beast’s destruction, Special Summoning another Golem from the Deck! Golem Special Summoned Beast again. Beast and Chimera were tuned to Summon Scrap Dragon! Call of the Haunted brought back Golem, which brought back Beast, which were used to Synchro Summon another Scrap Twin Dragon! Scrap Dragon used its effect to destroy Call of the Haunted and Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss and all the monsters attacked for game! We’re going to game 3!

Game 3

Perrotta elected for Neff to go first.

Neff started off by activating Supply Squad, setting Mystical Space Typhoon and Call of the Haunted, then Normal Summoning Reborn Tengu.

Perrotta activated Twin Twisters, discarding Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju, destroying Mystical Space Typhoon and Supply Squad. He then Summoned Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss and Barbar, then Xyz Summoning Barbar. On Summon, Neff used Effect Veiler on Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss. Perrotta activated Dark Hole to clear the field. Tengu brought out another Tengu. Perrotta Special Summoned another Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from his hand and passed turn.

Neff drew, activated Call of the Haunted on the first Tengu, Xyz Summoned Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer and used its effect to send the Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss back to the Deck and attacked for 2000.

Perrotta drew and passed.

Neff Tributed Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer for Scrap Golem, activated Scrap Factory and attacked for 2500,

Perrotta drew and passed.

Neff drew and attacked with Scrap Golem for another 2500.

Perrotta set a monster and a Spell/Trap.

Neff Normal Summoned Scrap Chimera, and attacked with Golem into the face-down Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, which banished Chimera. In the End Phase, Perrotta activated The Traveler and the Burning Abyss to Special Summon Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss. Chimera was returned to the field.

Perrotta drew, set and passed.

Neff Normal Summoned Scrap Shark and used Shark and Chimera to Xyz Summon Number 101: Silent Honor ARK! Golem attacked into Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss which banished Number 101. Perrotta activated another The Traveler and the Burning Abyss in the End Phase to get back Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss.

Perrotta Normal Summoned Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, then overlaid with Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss for Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss! Dante detached Farfa and sent 3 to the graveyard, one of them being Fiendish Rhino Warrior! Fiendish Rhino Warrior’s effect sent Graff, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss to the Graveyard while Farfa’s effect banished Scrap Golem until the End Phase. Graff’s effect Special Summoned Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss from the Deck. Dante went to attack Number 101 but it was banished by Neff’s Dimensional Prison! In the End Phase, Golem came back and Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss searched for Tour Guide From the Underworld.

Neff drew Bottomless Trap Hole. He set it, used Golem’s effect for Shark, then attacked with Number 101: Silent Honor ARK into the Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, then both Golem and Shark wiped out the remaining of Perrotta’s Life Points!
