Honoring Our Champions In Attendance!

June 11th, 2016

With Central America’s most prestigious Championship on the line, the Central American WCQ has attracted a roster of phenomenal Duelists and decorated Champions, all looking to add a new trophy to their collection!  Nearly a dozen Champions are in the hunt here today, all of whom were honored in a ceremony this morning.

Juan Diego Arevalo Gonzalez is the Dragon Duel Champion from El Salvador, and Bryan Alexis García García is the Dragon Duel Champion from right here in Mexico.  They’ll be two of the top Duelists to watch in today’s Dragon Duel Championship.

National Champion Gerald Yagans South Chaves Duels for Costa Rica; Brian Dionicio Quinones Vargas represents the Dominican Republic; Walter Eligio Lopez Ramírez holds the Guatemalan title; and Rishi Nishant Doodhnath Tripathi Duels for Trinidad & Tobago.  All four will receive VIP treatment in the tournament here this weekend, receiving byes for the first two rounds of the tournament, VIP seating, and priority Feature Matches.

In addition to National Champions, a number of YCS Champions are also looking to win their way to Worlds and will be doing it in VIP style. Alejandro García Moreno, Alan Daniel Santacruz Guzman, Alejandro Vivaldo Reyes Suarez, and three-time YCS winner Angel Flores are all looking to win another Championship this weekend.

And returning from his Finals finish at the World Championship last year, three-time Panama National Champion, former World Champion, and reigning Central American Champion Galileo Maurico De Obaldia Soza is looking for his fourth trip to the World Championship.  We’ll see him in action in our first Feature Match of the Day when Round 1 kicks off.

It’s an incredible gathering of amazing Dueling talent all gathered under one roof, for one huge tournament!  Will we see a repeat Champion this weekend, or will a new star rise to steal the show and make his or her name?  And who will be the Dragon Duel Champion?  With 571 Duelists and 19 Dragon Duelists ready to throw down, anything could happen here in Guadalajara.  But for now, congratulations to our former Champions – truly an all-star list of competitors!
