YCS Origins – Round 4 Feature Match: Cordero Spencer versus Tobias Eyre

June 18th, 2016

Welcome to Round 4! Chicago’s Cordero Spencer is currently undefeated with Majespecters, a Deck that saw success upon release but was quickly overshadowed by other Decks like Nekroz. Spencer has updated the Deck with newer cards from Breakers of Shadow, Pendulum Reborn and Majespecter Toad – Ogama. His opponent is Tobias Eyre, from West Virginia, and is using a Dracoslayer Performapal Deck. These are two Pendulum Decks with very different goals – which will emerage victorious?

Duel 1

Eyre won the dice roll and chose to play first. He played Terraforming to get Sky Iris, and activated it. He put Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer in his Pendulum Zone, and used Sky Iris to search out Performapal Odd-Eyes Unicorn. He put Unicorn and Performapal Odd-Eyes Light Phoenix in the Pendulum Zones. He Pendulum Summoned, playing a Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer each from his Extra Deck and his hand. He used their effects, destroying his Pendulum Scales to search for Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and Performapal Monkeyboard. He played the Joker, searching for Performapal Guitartle. He played Guitartle and Monkeyboard to his Pendulum Zones, and used each of their effects to draw a card and search out Performapal Secondonkey. He stacked Skullcrobat Joker and Pendulum Sorcerer for Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer in Defense Position. Its effect searched out Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer.

Spencer had a hand of Majespecter Raccoon – Bunbuku, Storming Mirror Force, Chaos Trap Hole, Solemn Strike, Majespecter Tempest, and Majespecter Cat – Nekomata. He played Bunbuku, putting Majespecter Toad – Ogama in his hand. He Set all his Trap Cards.

Eyre used Sky Iris, destroying his Monkeyboard to get Odd-Eyes Fusion! He played Performapal Lizardraw to the Pendulum Zone, and Guitartle’s and Lizardraw’s effects to draw some cards. He Normal Summoned Luster Pendulum, and moved to the Battle Phase. He attacked, right into Spencer’s Storming Mirror Force! Eyre had all his monsters bounced away, except the Defense Position Majester Paladin. In Main Phase 2, he played Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer to the Pendulum Zone, and Pendulum Summoned Lizardraw and Light Phoenix. Spencer negated their Summons with Solemn Strike! Eyre Set two to his back row.

Spencer drew Pendulum Reborn. He played Ogama, and Set Majespecter Tornado to his field. He Set Pendulum Reborn as well, and passed.

Eyre Normal Summoned Lector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord, and moved Majester Paladin to Attack Position. Majester Paladin attacked, and Spencer flipped Majespecter Tornado! He Tributed Ogama, and banished Lector Pendulum. Majester Paladin continued its attack, taking out Bunbuku. Spencer then flipped up his Pendulum Reborn, bringing Bunbuku back to the field! Its effect put another Bunbuku into Spencer’s hand. Eyre Pendulum Summoned Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and Luster Pendulum, and Spencer negated the Summon with Majespecter Tempest!

Spencer drew Pot of Duality. He Normal Summoned Bunbuku, and searched out another Ogama. He put Ogama and Nekomata in his Pendulum Zones, and Pendulum Summoned Bunbuku and Ogama from his Extra Deck! Ogama’s effect put Majespecter Tempest on the field. He stacked both Bunbuku for The Phantom Knights of Break Sword! Break Sword wiped out Majester Paladin in battle!

Eyre played Odd-Eyes Fusion! He combined Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon and Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon for Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon! He used its effect, and lost it to Spencer’s Majespecter Tempest! Eyre played Secondonkey, searching for Lizardraw. Eyre Pendulum Summoned Lizardraw and Magical Abductor. He used Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer’s Pendulum Effect to let his monsters win in battle against Spencer’s Phantom Knight, and attacked directly to leave Spencer with 1950 Life Points. Eyre still was sitting on 7850 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Eyre stacked Secondonkey and Abductor for Daigusto Emeral! He returned Luster Pendulum, Skullcrobat Joker, and a Pendulum Sorcerer to his Deck to draw a card. He played Upstart Goblin next, and passed.

Tobias Eyre

Spencer drew a second Pot of Duality. He played it, revealing Bunbuku, Chaos Trap Hole, and Storming Mirror Force. He chose Storming Mirror Force. He had no options but to Set Storming Mirror Force and Pot of Duality.

Eyre used Emeral again, returning Light Phoenix, Pendulum Sorcerer, and Majester Paladin to the Deck to draw a card. He used Sky Iris to destroy the Pendulum Sorcerer in his Pendulum Zone, searching for Light Phoenix. He played Phoenix to his Pendulum Zone, and drew a card with Guitartle. He Normal Summoned Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, using it and Lizardraw to play Dinoster Power, the Mighty Dracoslayer in Defense Position! Eyre Pendulum Summoned Lizardraw, Master Pendulum, and Pendulum Sorcerer! Sorcerer destroyed Light Phoenix to let him search out Skullcrobat Joker. Eyre stacked Pendulu Sorcerer and Master Pendulum for Diamond Dire Wolf! Diamond Dire Wolf destroyed itself and Spencer’s Set Pot of Duality – Spencer’s bluff had worked! He still had Storming Mirror Force to stay in the Duel this turn. Eyre moved to the Battle Phase, and had his LIzardraw and Emeral bounced away by Storming Mirror Force. Eyre knew it was there, and had to force it out. In Main Phase 2, he used his Dinoster Power to bring back Master Pendulum.

Spencer drew Upstart Goblin, and that let him draw Drowning Mirror Force! He Set it.

Eyre Normal Summoned Skullcrobat Joker, adding Secondonkey to his hand. He stacked Master Pendulum and Skullcrobat Joker for Daigusto Emeral. Emeral put Diamond Dire Wolf, Lizardraw, and Pendulum Sorcerer back into the Deck, and Eyre drew a card. He played Pendulum Sorcerer to the Pendulum Zone, and drew a card with Guitartle. He Pendulum Summoned Secondonkey and Master Pendulum, and Xyz Summoned Diamond Dire Wolf yet again! Diamond Dire Wolf destroyed itself and Spencer’s Drowning Mirror Force!

R4 G1 End

That was the opening he was waiting for! His monsters attacked, taking the first Duel!

Duel 2

Spencer chose to play first, with a hand of Drowning Mirror Force, Rivalry of Warlords, 2 Card of Demise, and Pendulum Reborn. He Set everything, and activated a Card of Demise. He drew Pot of Duality, Bunbuku, and Pendulum Reborn. He used Pot of Duality, revealing Majespecter Tempest and 2 Majespecter Fox – Kyubi. He took Tempest. Bunbuku came next, getting Nekomata. He put Nekomata in the Pendulum Zone, and Set Tempest. In the End Phase, he discarded Pendulum Reborn due to Card of Demise.

Cordero Spencer

Eyre played Magical Abductor to his Pendulum Zone, and used Terraforming. He searched out Sky Iris, and activated it. He played Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer to his Pendulum Zone, and used Magical Abductor’s effect to add Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer to his hand. Eyre used Sky Iris, destroying Abductor to get Light Phoenix to his hand. He Normal Summoned a Magical Abductor next, and attacked directly. After the attack, Spencer brought Bunbuku back with Pendulum Reborn, adding another Bunbuku to his hand. Eyre moved to Main Phase 2, using Master Pendulum to destroy Nekomata. He then played Guitartle to his Pendulum Zone, right as the round timer ended! Eyre continued, and Pendulum Summoned Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer from his hand. Spencer negated the Summon with Majespecter Tempest. Eyre Set one to his back row. Eyre had 6000 Life Points, while Spencer had 7500. In five turns, the Duel would be decided by who had the highest Life Points.

Spencer drew Majespecter Fox – Kyubi, and Normal Summoned it – right into Eyre’s Solemn Warning! Spencer played Bunbuku in the Pendulum Zone, and flipped Card of Demise. He drew Magic Drain, Pendulum Reborn, and Archfiend Eccentrick. He played Eccentrick to the Pendulum Zone, and it destroyed Master Pendulum. He Set his Trap Cards to finish.

Eyre played Light Phoenix to the Pendulum Zone, and drew with Guitartle. He Pendulum Summoned Master Pendulum (in Attack Position) and Magical Abductor (in Defense Position) from his Extra Deck, and Spencer flipped Rivalry of Warlords. Eyre kept his two Abductors, and Normal Summoned a third!

So many abductions...

He moved to the Battle Phase, and lost his Attack Position Abductors to Drowning Mirror Force! Spencer then used Pendulum Reborn to bring Nekomata to the field. In the End Phase, Nekomata searched out Ogama.

Spencer drew Mystical Space Typhoon. He Normal Summoned Ogama, and put Majespecter Tornado on the field.

Eyre drew, now on his final turn. He activated Sky Iris, and Spencer destroyed it first with Mystical Space Typhoon. Eyre played Mystical Space Typhoon on his own Light Phoenix, but Spencer negated it with Magic Drain! Eyre Set a monster. He tried attacking with Magical Abductor, but lost it to Majespecter Tornado. Spencer was up on Life Points, and won the Duel in the end of Match procedures. Each Duelist had one win now, so this Match was a Draw!
