NA WCQ Day 1 Wrap-Up!

July 10th, 2016

The first 8 Swiss Rounds are finally finished! 2239 Duelists came to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to compete for the honor of representing North America in this year’s World Championship, but only six of them will leave with invitations to do so.

The field of Decks is diverse, with Burning Abyss Decks, Monarch Decks, and Pendulum-based Decks leading the pack. But it’s anyone’s guess which six Duelists – and which six Decks – will be on top at the end of the weekend.

Competitors will experience four more Swiss Rounds tomorrow morning, followed by a cut to the Top 64 and single-elimination rounds that will whittle the field down to a single North American champion!

The weekend’s 55 Dragon Duelists competing in the North American Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier have already been cut down to just 16, all of whom will compete in tomorrow’s single-elimination rounds. At the end of those rounds, a champion will be crowned. The top three Duelists in this weekend’s Dragon Duel WCQ will receive an invitation to compete in this year’s Dragon Duel World Championship in Orlando, Florida, so the stakes have never been higher for many of the kids in this weekend’s competition.

Tomorrow’s Dueling action will be intense. You can follow the action here on the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME coverage blog, as well as on Twitch and YouTube.
