Round 2 Feature Match: Bryan Bradshaw vs Andrew Eppard
For Round 2, we’ve got Andrew Eppard from Toledo, Ohio, piloting a Monarch Deck. He’s up against Bryan Bradshaw, from Indianapolis, Indiana. Bradshaw is using a unique Deck featuring Destiny HEROes, Masked HEROes, Brilliant Fusion, and even Sky Scourge Norleras!
Duel 1
Eppard started with Mithra the Thunder Vassal, Special Summoning it, and giving a Vassal Token to Bradshaw. He played Return of the Monarchs, then played Kuraz the Light Monarch! He searched out Ehther the Heavenly Monarch with Return, and had Kuraz destroy Return to draw a new card. Mithra’s effect let him Tribute Summon again, and he played Erebus the Underworld Monarch! Its effect sent Pantheism of the Monarchs and Tenacity of the Monarchs to the Graveyard, and shuffled away an E – Emergency Call from Bradshaw’s hand. Eppard banished Pantheism from his Graveyard, revealing three copies of The Monarchs Stormforth from his Deck. Bradshaw had no choice but to give him one of them. Eppard played Tenacity next, and added another Return of the Monarchs to his hand. He played Return and Set a card.
Bradshaw had a hand of Tuning, Allure of Darkness, Plaguespreader Zombie, Performage Trick Clown, and Reinforcement of the Army. In the Standby Phase, Eppard flipped The Monarchs Stormforth. Bradshaw played Reinforcement, getting Dark Grepher to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, and activated its effect. He discarded Plaguespreader Zombie to send Destiny HERO – Malicious to his Graveyard. He Set Tuning, and played Allure of Darkness. He drew another Allure and Upstart Goblin. With no DARKs in his hand, he lost all his cards! That triggered his Trick Clown’s effect, and he brought it to the field. He stacked Trick Clown with Dark Grepher, for Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer. That’s where Eppard chose to use the Ehther in his hand! He Tribute Summoned it, using Castel and Erebus as Tributes. Ehther sent The Prime Monarch to the Graveyard and Special Summoned Kuraz from the Deck, and Return gave Eppard an Erebus. Kuraz’s effect destroyed itself and Return, giving him two more cards. Bradshaw used Malicious from his Graveyard to get another Malicious in Defense Position, then flipped up Tuning. He got Quickdraw Synchron to his hand, and sent Destiny Draw from his Deck to the Graveyard. He put Quickdraw back on top of his Deck to bring Plaguespreader Zombie from his Graveyard! He tuned Plaguespreader to Malicious for PSY-Framelord Omega! Bradshaw passed his turn, and Eppard brought The Prime Monarch from the Graveyard.
Bradshaw used Omega’s effect to put Plaguespreader Zombie back in his Graveyard. Eppard activated Brilliant Fusion! He sent Gem-Knight Lazuli and Jack’s Knight to the Graveyard for Gem-Knight Seraphinite! Lazuli put Jack’s Knight back in his hand. He Tributed Seraphinite for Jack’s Knight, and used his spare Normal Summon to Tribute Jack’s Knight for Erebus! Its effect sent another Prime Monarch to the Graveyard to get rid of Omega! Eppard stacked both Prime Monarchs for Shark Fortress! With Shark Fortress, Ehther, and Erebus, Eppard took the first Duel!
Duel 2
Bradshaw began with E – Emergency Call, Allure of Darkness, Instant Fusion, Destiny HERO – Malicious, and Phantom of Chaos. He played Emergency Call to add Elemental HERO Shadow Mist to his hand. Allure gave him Mask Change and Gem-Knight Garnet, and he banished Phantom of Chaos. He Set Shadow Mist and Mask Change.
Eppard played The Monarchs Stormforth, and Tributed Shadow Mist for Jack’s Knight. Shadow Mist’s effect put Destiny HERO – Diamond Dude in Bradshaw’s hand. Jack’s Knight attacked directly, and Eppard Set two cards to finish.
Bradshaw drew A Hero Lives! He played it, and Eppard used Maxx “C”. Bradshaw Special Summoned Shadow Mist, and its effect put Mask Change in his hand. He played Diamond Dude next, and its effect hit Destiny Draw! Bradshaw Set Mask Change.
Eppard played Brilliant Fusion, and Bradshaw Chained Mask Change! He swapped Shadow Mist out for Masked HERO Dark Law! Due to Dark Law’s effect, Brilliant Fusion banished Lazuli and Edea the Heavenly Squire from Eppard’s Deck, for Gem-Knight Seraphinite. He stacked Jack’s Knight and Seraphinite for Number 61: Volcasaurus! Its effect wiped out Dark Law, and Eppard then upgraded Volcasaurus for Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger! Gaia Dragon attacked Diamond Dude, ending the Match! Bradshaw wasn’t able to use his second copy of Mask Change, because his Extra Deck was so tight on space that he only had one Dark Law.
Andrew Eppard is the victor, with Monarchs!
