Round 6 Feature Match: Jake Valliere versus Luciano Greco

July 10th, 2016

Jake Valliere is currently 4-1 in the Main Event with probably the most awesome deck we could find: Blue-Eyes. Valliere’s strategy utilizes Kaijus to deal with opposing resilient threats, in addition to crazy combos to easily summon Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon. His opponent, Luciano Greco, is 4-1 with an Odd-Eyes Magician Pendulum Deck. With Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin and a slew of powerful Magician Pendulums, Greco is looking to come out of the gate big and end the Duel quickly. Can Dragons manage to defeat Pendulums? Or will the tournament mainstay crush the Blue-Eyes dream?

Greco won the roll and chose to go first.

Duel One:

Greco started with Igknight Reload, sending back Dragonpulse Magician and Oafdragon Magician to draw three cards. He Normal Summoned Majespecter Raccoon – Bunbuku and added Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin to his hand, then followed it up with Summoner’s Art to add Dragonpit Magician before he placed it in his Pendulum Scale along with Wisdom-Eye Magician. He used Wisdom-Eye to destroy itself and get Oafdragon Magician into his Pendulum Scale, before he Pendulum Summoned Oafdragon Magician and Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin. He triggered the effect of Oafdragon Magician to add back Wisdom-Eye Magician before ending.

Valliere opened a hand with Dragon Spirit of White, Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Silver’s Cry, Soul Charge, and Jet Synchron before he drew Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju. He tributed away Greco’s Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin to give him Gameciel, then Normal Summoned Jet Synchron and crashed into Greco’s Monster. Next, he discarded Dragon Spirit of White to Special Summon Jet Synchron and activated Silver’s Cry to bring it back! This gave him the Synchro Materials to summon Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon before ending his turn.

Greco drew and Normal Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and used it to add Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon to his hand. He put Wisdom-Eye Magician in his Pendulum Scale, then used its effect to get another Oafdragon to his Pendulum Scale. He then Pendulum Summoned Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin and tried to use its effect, but Valliere Chained his Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon! The Majespecter Raccoon – Bunbuku was added back to Greco’s hand as Azure Eyes Silver Dragon was Special Summoned for Valliere. Greco switched Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju to Defense Position and overlayed Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin and Oafdragon Magician for Photon Strike Bounzer!

Valierre & Field

Valliere drew Dragon Spirit of White, then tried to activate the effect of Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon but it was negated by Photon Strike Bounzer. He then activated Soul Charge and used it to Special Summon Dragon Spirit of White and Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon. Dragon Spirit of White triggered and banished Greco’s Oafdragon Magician.

Greco drew and placed Wisdom-Eye Magician in his Pendulum Zone, and then used it to get Dragonpulse Magician from his deck. He Pendulum Summoned Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon before using the effect of Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin to return his Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and Valliere’s Dragon Spirit of White. He then Normal Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker once again and used its effect to add Performapal Odd-Eyes Light Phoenix to his hand before he ended.

Valliere drew a blank and couldn’t beat Greco!

Bunch of Pendulums

Repeated use of Wisdom-Eye Magician allows Greco to pull far ahead and defeat Valliere’s Dragons! Can Valliere fight back and win two more Duels?

Valliere chose to go first.

Duel Two:

Valliere opened with a hand of Dragon Spirit of White, Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Terraforming, Silver’s Cry, and Drowning Mirror Force. He used Terraforming to add Dragon’s Ravine to his hand, then used it to send his Dragon Spirit of White to the Graveyard so he could add Dragunity Corsesca. Next, he Special Summoned Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon and brought back Dragon Spirit of White with Silver’s Cry, and overlayed both for Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon, then stacked Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon on top of it! He used its effect to send The White Stone of Legend, The White Stone of Ancients, and Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon. The White Stone of Legend triggered and let him add Blue-Eyes White Dragon to his hand, then used the effect of The White Stone of Ancients to add Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon back to his hand. He Special Summoned it and Normal Summoned Dragunity Corsesca and tuned them for Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon! He Set Drowning Mirror Force before he ended.

Greco

Greco started with Mystical Space Typhoon on Valliere’s Set Drowning Mirror Force then activated Sky Iris. He placed Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon into his Pendulum Zone, then used the effect of Sky Iris to destroy it so he could add Odd-Eyes Fusion to his hand. He activated the Fusion Spell, which prompted Valliere to respond with the effect of Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon to Special Summon Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon. Odd-Eyes Fusion resolved and Greco Special Summoned Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon! His actions were halted by the effect of Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon though, and he was forced to end.

Valliere drew Drowning Mirror Force for turn and activated the effect of Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon, prompting Greco to negate it with Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon. He declared attacks with both of his mighty Dragons, then used the effect of Dragon’s Ravine to discard his Blue-Eyes White Dragon and send The White Stone of Ancients to the Graveyard.  He Set Drowning Mirror Force and during the End Phase, used the effect of The White Stone of Ancients to Special Summon Dragon Spirit of White and banish Greco’s Sky Iris!

Greco drew and with no way to clear the Dragons, conceded!

Azure

Valliere draws well enough to go off and show the true power of his Dragons! Can Greco’s Pendulums keep up in the final Duel?

Greco chose to go first.

Duel Three:

Greco started with Terraforming to add Necrovalley and then tried to Normal Summon Performapal Skullcrobat Joker but lost out to Valliere’s Effect Veiler. He activate Necrovalley before he ended his turn.

Valliere opened with a hand of Terraforming, The White Stone of Legend, The Melody of Awakening Dragon, and Silver’s Cry before he drew Effect Veiler. He activated Terraforming and used it to add Dragon’s Ravine, then  activated Melody of Awakening Dragon to discard Silver’s Cry and add two copies of Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon to his hand. He Special Summoned one Malefic thanks to Greco’s Necrovalley, then declared an attack over his Performapal Skullcrobat Joker. He Normal Summoned The White Stone of Legend next and Synchro Summoned Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon. The White Stone of Legend triggered and added Blue-Eyes White Dragon to his hand, then he activated Dragon’s Ravine and discarded Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon to send The White Stone of Ancients down to his Graveyard. During the End Phase, he used the effect of The White Stone of Ancients to Special Summon Dragon Spirit of White from his deck and banish Necrovalley.

Greco drew and activated Odd-Eyes Fusion to Special Summon Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon. He activated Performapal Monkeyboard to add Performapal Odd-Eyes Light Phoenix, then placed Performapal Odd-Eyes Unicorn in his Pendulum Zone so he could Special Summon the Light Phoenix from his hand before he ended.

Valliere drew Return of the Dragon Lords, then activated the effect of the Special Summoned Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon and used the effect of Dragon Spirit of White to Special Summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon from his hand. He overlayed both for Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon, and then stacked Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon. He moved to Battle Phase and declared attacks over Greco’s Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon and Performapal Skullcrobat Joker, then moved to Main Phase 2 and used the effect of Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon to destroy Greco’s Performapal Odd-Eyes Unicorn. He then activated Return of the Dragon Lords to Special Summon Dragon Spirit of White from his Graveyard, then stacked Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon on top! He used the effect of Number 95: Galaxy-Eyes Dark Matter Dragon to send Dragon Spirit of White, The White Stone of Ancients, and Dragunity Corsesca to his Graveyard. During the End Phase, he used the effect of The White Stone of Ancients to Special Summon Dragon Spirit of White from his hand.

Greco drew and conceded to the mighty Dragon army!
