It all comes down to this! Alexander Von Soto from Mexico City masterfully piloted his Blue-Eyes Deck to finals of this YCS, and now he’s Dueling against Guadalajara’s Adrian Madriz Espinoza and his Metalfoes Deck in a Match that will determine who becomes champion. The stakes have never been higher for these two Duelists, as only one of them will be able to claim a YCS title that will last a lifetime. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Madriz chose to go first and started off the Match by activating Summoner’s Art to add Qliphort Scout from his Deck to his hand.

He placed it in his Pendulum Zone and then paid 800 Life Points to activate its effect and add Qliphort Monolith from his Deck to his hand. He placed Metalfoes Steelen in his Pendulum Zone next, and used its effect to destroy his Scout and Set Metalfoes Counter from his Deck. He activated Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon in his Pendulum Zone next, and Pendulum Summoned Scout from his Extra Deck along with Monolith and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon from his hand. He combined Scout with Monolith to Xyz Summon Cyber Dragon Nova and then upgraded Nova into Cyber Dragon Infinity. He Normal Summoned Jowgen the Spiritualist next. He activated the effect of the Pendulum Dragon in his Pendulum Zone during his End Phase, destroying the Pendulum Dragon and adding Majespecter Raccoon – Bunbuku from Madriz’s Deck to his hand.

Von Soto opened up with Effect Veiler, The Melody of Awakening Dragons, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, Dragon’s Shrine, and Blue-Eyes White Dragon. He activated Dragon Shrine to send Dragon Spirit of White from his Deck to his Graveyard, and then sent The White Stone of Legend from his Deck to his Graveyard. He used the Stone’s effect to add a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from his Deck to his hand. He activated The Melody of Awakening Dragons by discarding a Blue-Eyes White Dragon next, and Madriz detached an Xyz Material from Infinity to negate it. Von Soto Set Phoenix Wing Wind Blast before ending his turn.

Madriz switched Jowgen into Defense Position and then Normal Summoned Majespecter Raccoon – Bunbuku. He used its effect to add Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin from his Deck to his hand and then activated Painful Decision. He sent Metalfoes Silverd from his Deck to his Graveyard and then added a copy to his hand. He destroyed his Jowgen with the effect of the Steelen in his Pendulum Zone and Set Metalfoes Counter from his Deck. He placed Silverd in his Pendulum Zone, and then Von Soto flipped Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, discarding Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon to target Steelen. Madriz Chained the effect of Infinity to try to negate the Phoenix Wing Wind Blast; but Von Soto discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate the effect of Infinity. Steelen returned to the top of Madriz’s Deck, leaving him unable to Pendulum Summon. Next, Madriz used Silverd’s effect to destroy Bunbuku and Set Metalfoes Fusion from his Deck. He activated Metalfoes Counter to Special Summon Metalfoes Volflame, and then direct attacks from Volflame, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and Cyber Dragon Infinity dropped Von Soto down to 1000 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Madriz combined Volflame with his Pendulum Dragon to Xyz Summon Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon.

Von Soto activated Trade-In to discard the last card in his hand – a Blue-Eyes White Dragon – and try to draw 2 cards; but Madriz activated the effect of Cyber Dragon Infinity to negate the Trade-In, prompting Von Soto to concede.

Duel Two

Von Soto opened up Duel 2 with The White Stone of Ancients, Return of the Dragon Lords, The White Stone of Legend, and 2 copies of Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

He revealed a Blue-Eyes White Dragon to Special Summon Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon and then Normal Summoned The White Stone of Legend. He Tuned his 2 monsters together to Synchro Summon Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon in Defense Position and used the effect of The White Stone of Legend to add a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Return of the Dragon Lords to Special Summon Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon from his Graveyard.

Madriz placed Silverd and Goldriver in his Pendulum Zones. He used Silverd’s effect to destroy Goldriver and Set Metalfoes Counter from his Deck. Next, he placed Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon in his Pendulum Zone and Normal Summoned Jowgen the Spiritualist. He discarded a card from his hand at random to try to destroy Spirit Dragon and Alternative White Dragon with Jowgen’s effect, and when Von Soto protected his monsters by banishing Return of the Dragon Lords from his Graveyard, Madriz activated Jowgen’s effect again to discard his other card in his hand and destroy them. He attacked directly with Jowgen, and in his End Phase, Madriz used the effect of his Pendulum Dragon have it destroy itself and add Bunbuku to Madriz’s hand.

Von Soto activated Dragon Shrine, sending Dragon Spirit of White and The White Stone of Ancients from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he banished The White Stone of Ancients from his Graveyard to add a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from his Graveyard to his hand.

Madriz switched Jowgen into Defense Position and then Summoned Majespecter Raccoon – Bunbuku. He activated its effect to add Kirin to his hand and then activated Pot of Desires. He banished the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down to draw 2 cards. He activated Qliphort Scout in his Pendulum Zone next, and used Silverd’s effect to destroy the Scout and Set Metalfoes Counter from his Deck. He attacked directly with Bunbuku, dropping Von Soto down to 6600 Life Points.

Von Soto drew Soul Charge and Set it. He was completely shut down by Jowgen the Spiritualist, which continued to prevent him from Special Summoning any monsters.

Madriz Tributed Bunbuku to Summon Kirin and attacked directly with Kirin, dropping Von Soto down to 4600 Life Points.

Von Soto drew Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, leaving 3 copies of Blue-Eyes White Dragon and 2 Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragons in his hand.

Madriz attacked directly with Kirin, dropping Von Soto down to 2600 Life Points.

Von Soto drew The Melody of Awakening Dragons and Set it face-down.
