We’re now in Top 16!  We’re bringing you a Feature Match between Isabella Martinez from Cincinnati, Ohio playing Blue-Eyes, Dueling against Joel White from Griffith, Indiana playing Metalfoes.  Only one of these Duelists will advance to the Top 8, and that Duelist will be one step closer to becoming a YCS Championship.  It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Martinez won the roll and elected to go first.

Martinez started off with Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Return of the Dragon Lords, The Melody of Awakening Dragon, Dragon Shrine, and Pot of Desires.  She started off by activating The Melody of Awakening Dragon, discarding Blue-Eyes White Dragon and adding Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon and Blue-Eyes White Dragon to her hand.  She then activated Pot of Desires, banishing 10 cards to draw another Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon and Vanity’s Emptiness.  She Special Summoned Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, then activated Dragon Shrine, sending Dragon Spirit of White and The White Stone of Ancients to the Graveyard.  She then activated Return of the Dragon Lords, Special Summoning Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and combined her two Level 8 monsters to Xyz Summon Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy!  She Set Vanity’s Emptiness and in the End Phase used Ancient’s effect to Special Summon Dragon Spirit of White from her Deck.

White Set 2 Spell/Trap Cards and Normal Summoned Jowgen the Spiritualist!  The effect was activated, randomly discarding Guiding Ariadne.  Martinez used Return of the Dragon Lords from the Graveyard to save both Dragons.  White used Jowgen the Spiritualist’s effect again, randomly discarding another Ariadne and destroying both monsters.  White then flipped up the Set Painful Decision, sending Metalfoes Steelen and adding another copy to his hand.  He then activated Metalfoes Steelen and the third Ariadne to the Pendulum Zone and used Metalfoes Steelen to destroy Ariadne and set Metalfoes Counter from the Deck.  Ariadne’s effect revealed three copies of Solemn Strike, one of which was added to White’s hand.  He then activated Pot of Desires, banishing 10 cards to draw 2 more.  He Set another card and then attacked with Jowgen the Spiritualist for 200 points of damage.

Martinez drew The White Stone of Ancients.  She Normal Summoned The White Stone of Ancients and attacked Jowgen the Spiritualist, dealing 400 damage.  White activated Metalfoes Counter when Jowgen the Spiritualist was destroyed by battle, Special Summoning Metalfoes Goldriver from the Deck.  In Main Phase 2, Martinez attempted to Special Summon Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon by revealing Blue-Eyes White Dragon from her hand, but White flipped-up Solemn Strike to negate the Summon.  She then used the effect of The White Stone of Ancients in her Graveyard, banishing it to add the fallen Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon back to her hand.

White drew to 3 cards in hand.  He used Metalfoes Steelen’s effect, destroying the Metalfoes Goldriver to set Metalfoes Combination from the Deck.  He then Special Summoned Blackwing – Gofu the Vague Shadow from his hand, then Normal Summoned Metalfoes Silverd, and then Synchro Summoned Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer!  He activated its effect to Special Summon Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his Deck, then used the other effect to destroy Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and shuffle the face-down Vanity’s Emptiness back into the Deck.  White then banished Metalfoes Counter from the Graveyard to add the Metalfoes Silverd in the Extra Deck back to his hand, which was then activated to set up for a huge Pendulum Summon that put enough damage on the field to end the first Duel!

Duel Two

Martinez elected to go first in Duel 2.  She started with a hand of Soul Charge, Anti-Spell Fragrance, 2 copies of Pot of Pot of Desires, and Twin Twisters.  She activated one of the Pot of Desires, banishing the top 10 cards to draw Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dragon Spirit of White.  She Set all of the Spells and Traps and then ended her turn.

In White’s Draw Phase, Martinez activated Anti-Spell Fragrance.  In the Main Phase, White Special Summoned Blackwing – Gofu the Vague Shadow, Special Summoned 2 Vague Shadow Tokens, and then Normal Summoned Metalfoes Steelen, which was tuned with Blackwing – Gofu the Vague Shadow to Synchro Summon Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer!  He attacked directly with Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer, and then White Set one card before passing his turn.

Martinez drew another Blue-Eyes White Dragon.  She looked over her face-down cards and slipped-up the second Pot of Desires, banishing another 10 cards to draw The Melody of Awakening Dragon and another Anti-Spell Fragrance.  She activated the Set Twin Twisters, discarding Dragon Spirit of White to destroy White’s face-down Solemn Warning and her own Anti-Spell Fragrance.  She then activated The Melody of Awakening Dragon adding a Blue-Eyes White Dragon and a Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon from her Deck that now contains only 8 cards, to her hand.  She Special Summoned Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon and used its effect to destroy Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer.  She flipped the face-down Soul Charge, Special Summoning the Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dragon Spirit of White in the Graveyard, putting her at 3150 LP.  She Set the second copy of Anti-Spell and passed.

In White’s Draw Phase, she flipped Anti-Spell Fragrance up, once again locking down Spell Cards.  In the Main Phase, White Normal Summoned Majespecter Raccoon – Bunbuku and used its effect to add Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin to his hand.

Martinez drew Vanity’s Emptiness for her turn.  She attacked Majespecter Raccoon – Bunbuku with Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, and attacked with Dragon Spirit of White and Blue-Eyes White Dragon to clear the field.  In Main Phase 2, she set Vanity’s Emptiness and passed.

White drew for turn with his Life Points at his 6200 to Martinez’s 3150.  He Set a monster and a back row and passed.

Martinez drew Twin Twisters.  She used Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon to destroy the face-down Metalfoes Goldriver, then used Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon and Dragon Spirit of White to Xyz Summon Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon, then Xyz Summoned Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon on top of it!  She attacked with both monsters to send this match to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

White elected to go first in Duel 3.  He started with Metalfoes Silverd and Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin in the Pendulum Zones.  He used Metalfoes Silverd’s effect to destroy Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin and Set Metalfoes Counter from the Deck.  He then activated Archfiend Eccentric in the Pendulum Zone and Pendulum Summoned Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin from the Extra Deck and Jowgen the Spiritualist from the hand!  He Set 2 cards and passed.

Martinez started with a hand of The Melody of Awakening Dragon, Return of the Dragon Lords, Galaxy Soldier, Trade-In, Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, and Sage with Eyes of Blue.  She Normal Summoned Sage with Eyes of Blue and tried to use its effect, but ran into a Solemn Strike!  White was down to 6500 LP.  She continued by activating The Melody of Awakening Dragon, discarding Galaxy Soldier to add Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon to her hand.  At this point, time in the round was called.  Life Points will be checked in 3 more turns.  She then activated Trade-In, discarding Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon to draw another Sage with Eyes of Blue and Anti-Spell Fragrance.  She set Anti-Spell Fragrance and Return of the Dragon Lords then passed.

White started turn 1 of overtime.  He Normal Summoned Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and switched Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin to Attack Position.  Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer attacked for 1850 points of damage and Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin attacked directly, bringing Martinez down to 4150 Life Points.

Martinez drew Twin Twisters for turn.  She Normal Summoned Sage with Eyes of Blue and used its effect to add The Fabled Catsith to her hand.  She then activated Twin Twisters, discarding The Fabled Catsith to destroy the Archfiend Eccentric in the Pendulum Zone and the face-down Metalfoes Counter.  The Fabled Catsith’s effect then destroyed Jowgen the Spiritualist.  She Special Summoned Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, then used Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon’s effect to destroy Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer.  Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin‘s effect was Chained to return the Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon to Martinez’s hand, and that was enough for her to extend the handshake!
