YCS Minneapolis Wrap-Up!

October 17th, 2016

Another YCS is in the books!  Over the course of the weekend, we saw a wide variety of strategies and tactics; but in the end, Marcus Hayden from Joliet, Illinois and his Metalfoes Deck bested 768 other Duelists and became the champion of YCS Minneapolis!

During the 10 Swiss Rounds, we saw a wide array of strategies, including Majespecters featuring the newly released Ties of the Brethren, Blue-Eyes, Phantom Knight Burning Abyss, Herald of Perfection, Kozmo, Paleozoic, and even Fluffals!  In the end, the main tournament came down to a Metalfoes mirror-Match in which Marcus Hayden squared off against YCS newcomer Joel White with Hayden came out on top!

In the Dragon Duels, 13-year-old Rohan Motie and his Blue-Eyes Hieratic Deck defeated Tate Mack’s Amorphages to allow him to emerge as the Dragon Duel Champion of the weekend.

The weekend also saw host to a variety of Public Events, including Regional Qualifiers, Win-A-Mats, Generation Duels, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!!, 3 vs. 3, UDS Qualifiers, Structure Deck Tournaments, and the School Tournament Series!  There were plenty of Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME events in Hall D of the Minneapolis Convention Center, even for those who didn’t participate in the YCS Main Event.

That’ll do it for this weekend. You can find links to all of the coverage that took place throughout the weekend here!

The next Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series tournament will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on November 12th and 13th, followed by a Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series tournament in Anaheim, California on November 26th and 27th!
