Dedicated Zoodiac Decks are the superstars here at YCS Seattle, taking a combined total of 25 spots in the Top 32. Those each have some rather different strategies within them, however. Pure Zoodiac Decks are the most common, with 11 Duelists placing with them. The 3 Artifact Zoodiac variants are pretty similar, but make room for Artifact Sanctum and Artifact Scythe to have an easier time stopping opposing Zoodiac combos. The Kaiju Zoodiac build had 9 Duelists representing it. This version helps to break through tough fields with Interrupted Kaiju Slumber, and uses a variety of Kaiju to always be able to activate Slumber. Nicholas Ramsammy used both Kaiju and Artifacts with Zoodiac, to get the best of both worlds. Finally, Mason Blake’s Kozmo Zoodiac Deck made the cut. He’s able to use Zoodiac Barrage to destroy his Kozmotown or any of his Kozmo machines, triggering their effects.
Infernoids are the next most common Deck, thanks to their amazing new Void cards and new Fusion Monster, Infernoid Tierra. That Grass Looks Greener allows them to load their Graveyard and start the Duel off with a huge advantage. Yueqi Zhu’s Lightsworn Zombie Deck also uses That Grass Looks Greener, putting a bunch of Lightsworn and Shiranui cards, Fairy Tail – Snow, and Mezuki in his Graveyard.
Rounding out the rest of the Decks, we have a Metalfoes Deck which uses a small Zoodiac engine. With Zoodiac Barrage, you can destroy your Metalfoes and put together big combos, and still play out the standard Zoodiac combo to get a Drident and another monster on the field. Paleozoic Frogs made the top cut, packing a set of Blaze Accelerator and Volcanic Scattershot for board wipes. Finally, one Burning Abyss Deck is showing that the strategy is never truly dead – That Grass Looks Greener gave the strategy a new tool, after all!
