Top 4 Feature Match: Anderson Tsang vs. Ayinde Ross
Out of 717 Duelists, only four remain! We featured San Francisco’s Anderson Tsang earlier today, where he blew away his opponent in a swift 2-0 victory using his Infernoid Deck. He’s up against Ayinde Ross from Los Angeles, who is using a Metalfoes Deck. Metalfoes have had a very impressive showing at this event, thanks to the added consistency of Baobaboon.
Duel 1
Ross won the roll and chose to play first. He had a hand of 2 Metalfoes Goldriver, Metalfoes Counter, Baobaboon, and Flying “C”. He Summoned Baobaboon, drawing Metalfoes Volflame and putting Counter back into his Deck. He played Goldriver in his Pendulum Zone, destroying Baobaboon so he could Set Metalfoes Counter on the field, and Special Summoned two more Baobaboons. Each of the Baobaboon effects activated. He ended up drawing Storm and Summoner’s Art, and returning Storm and Goldriver to the bottom of the Deck. He Xyz Summoned M-X-Saber Invoker, Special Summoned Zoodiac Ramram, and upgraded it into Zoodiac Tigermortar. He turned that into Zoodiac Broadbull, and used it to add Dragoons of Draconia to his hand. He turned Broadbull into Zoodiac Drident, then used Summoner’s Art to add Qliphort Scout to his hand. He played it, and used it to get Qliphort Monolith to his hand. He had Drident destroy Scout, then played Volflame in his Pendulum Zone. He Pendulum Summoned Scout and Monolith, and used them to Xyz Summon Cyber Dragon Nova, then had that become Cyber Dragon Infinity! Goldriver destroyed Volflame to Set Metalfoes Combination from the Deck to the field.
Tsang played Upstart Goblin. He Special Summoned Speedroid Terrortop, using it to add Speedroid Taketomborg to his hand. He Special Summoned it, and Ross handed over his Flying “C”! Tsang continued by playing Fairy Tail – Snow, using its effect on Infinity, which negated and destroyed Snow. Tsang then played Future Fusion! Then, he used Left Arm Offering (banishing Zoodiac Thoroughblade and Infernoid Decatron), to get That Grass Looks Greener to his hand! He activated it, sending 22 cards to the Graveyard! Notable cards sent were Zoodiac Ratpier, Infernoid Onuncu, Infernoid Attondel, and Infernoid Sjette. Tsang then banished 6 cards from his Graveyard, along with the Flying “C” on his field, to Special Summon Fairy Tail – Snow. It used its effect, targeting Drident, and Drident destroyed Future Fusion before being turned face-down. Tsang Special Summoned Infernoid Onuncu from his Graveyard, and moved to the Battle Phase. Snow attacked and destroyed M-X-Saber Invoker. Terrortop destroyed Drident, then Onuncu attacked Infinity. Ross flipped Metalfoes Combination at the end of the turn.
Ross drew Metalfoes Silverd. He played Volflame, and Tsang negated it with Onuncu (Tributing Snow). He played Silverd next, destroying Combination to get Fullmetalfoes Fusion to the field, and Combination added Raremetalfoes Bismugear to his hand. He activated his earlier Counter and Special Summoned a Volflame. He Normal Summoned Dragoons of Draconia, then played Raremetalfoes Bismugear in his Pendulum Zone, and Pendulum Summoned Goldriver to the field. He had Bismugear destroy Silverd to Set Metalfoes Fusion to the field, then played it to fuse Goldriver and Dragoons for Metalfoes Mithrilium, bouncing away Onuncu. He used Metalfoes Fusion’s effect in the Graveyard, returning it to the Deck to draw Metalfoes Silverd. Finally, he moved to the Battle Phase. Mithrilium destroyed Terrortop in battle, and Volflame attacked directly. In Main Phase 2, he played Silverd in his Pendulum Zone.
Tsang played Void Vanishment, discarding Onuncu to get Void Feast to his hand. He Set it, his only remaining card.
Ross drew Archfiend Eccentrick, and Tsang flipped Void Feast. He sent Vanishment to the Graveyard, and Special Summoned Infernoid Patrulea and Infernoid Harmadik in Attack Position, and Infernoid Decatron in Defense Position. Decatron sent Devyaty to the Graveyard to copy it. Ross played Eccentrick, destroying it with Silverd to get Combination. He played Metalfoes Fusion, but in his haste to finish his combo he also flipped Fullmetalfoes Fusion… and unfortunately, he had to play it out. He played out a Metalfoes Mithrilium, using his previous copy, and that one Special Summoned Volflame. Volflame, and Metalfoes Fusion failed to resolve. Tsang responded with Snow to turn Mithrilium face-down before it could use its effect. Ross played Bismugear and Pendulum Summoned Goldriver and Dragoons of Draconia. He went to the Battle Phase, sending his Dragoons to destroy Harmadik. Volflame destroyed Patrulea, and the second Volflame attacked directly. Tsang responded with Snow in Defense Position, turning Volflame face-down. In Main Phase 2, Ross used Bismugear to destroy Silverd, getting Metalfoes Counter to the field.
Tsang activated Pot of Desires, then Special Summoned Onuncu from the Graveyard. It wiped out Ross’s monsters, and the Mithrilium Special Summoned Volflame to the field. Tsang Normal Summoned another Snow and moved to the Battle Phase. Snow attacked and destroyed the Defense Position Volflame, Ross flipped Metalfoes Counter, and Onuncu Tributed Snow to negate and banish Counter. Tsang attacked directly with everything else, then Special Summoned Snow back to the field to attack again. In Main Phase 2, he used his 2 Snows to play Zoodiac Broadbull, which added Zoodiac Ratpier to his hand. He used Broadbull to play Zoodiac Boarbow, which became another Zoodiac Broadbull, then Zoodiac Tigermortar, and finally Zoodiac Drident in Defense Position!
Ross drew Maxx “C”, with no other cards except Bismugear in the Pendulum Zone. He Set Maxx “C”. Tsang had Drident destroy Bismugear, which let Ross get Metalfoes Steelen to his hand.
Tsang played Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn and had it attack, wiping out Maxx “C”. Onuncu attacked directly, leaving Ross with 750 Life Points. He used Drident’s effect to destroy itself, which put it and all of its Xyz Materials in the Graveyard. That allowed him to Special Summon Fairy Tail – Snow, which attacked to take this first Duel!
Duel 2
Ross chose to play first, and had a hand of Archfiend Eccentrick, Summoner’s Art, Performapal King Bear, Metalfoes Silverd, and Metalfoes Volflame. He used Summoner’s Art to get Qliphort Scout, and played it to get Qliphort Monolith. He played Silverd and destroyed Scout, putting Metalfoes Combination on the field. Eccentrick came next, and he had it destroy Combination to add Silverd to his hand. He played it, destroying his previous Silverd to Set Metalfoes Fusion on the field. He played Volflame in his Pendulum Zone, and Pendulum Summoned Monolith, Scout, Eccentrick, and Silverd! He stacked his Qliphorts for Nova, and then had that become Infinity once again. He stacked Eccentrick and Silverd for M-X-Saber Invoker, and it Special Summoned Zoodiac Ramram. He used Ramram for Tigermortar, and that for Broadbull. He had Broadbull add Dragoons of Draconia to his hand, then used Broadbull to play Drident in Defense Position. He activated Volflame’s effect next, destroying the Silverd in his Pendulum Zone to Set Metalfoes Counter on the field.
Tsang Normal Summoned Zoodiac Whiptail, and Ross’s Drident destroyed it. Tsang played Upstart Goblin, then Zoodiac Barrage. He had it destroy itself so he could Special Summon Zoodiac Thoroughblade, and used its effect, but Thoroughblade was negated and destroyed by Infinity. Tsang was waiting for that, and played That Grass Looks Greener! He sent 22 cards to the Graveyard, including Maxx “C”, Raigeki, Future Fusion, and several Infernoids. He Special Summoned Infernoid Harmadik from his hand, then Infernoid Devyaty from his Graveyard! Devyaty wiped out all of Ross’s Spell and Trap Cards, then attacked and destroyed Infinity. In Main Phase 2, Harmadik destroyed Drident with its effect.
Ross drew Baobaboon. He used M-X-Saber Invoker’s effect to bring Zoodiac Whiptail to the field. He upgraded it into Drident, and had it use its effect to destroy Devyaty. He played Baobaboon, drawing Metalfoes Steelen and returning Bear to the Deck. He played Steelen in his Pendulum Zone, destroying Baobaboon to Set Metalfoes Fusion on the field. Baobaboon Special Summoned two more copies of itself, and each used their effects. He drew another Steelen and put it on the bottom of the Deck, then he drew Mystical Space Typhoon and put it on the bottom as well. At this point, the round timer ended – that first Duel had just been too long. Ross continued, banishing Metalfoes Counter to add Silverd to his hand, and activated it. It destroyed Drident to put Metalfoes Combination on the field. He used his two Baobaboon to Xyz Summon The Phantom Knights of Break Sword, and used it to destroy Combination and Harmadik. Finally, he Pendulum Summoned all of his Metalfoes back to the field and attacked directly to even the score!
Duel 3
Now that we were in the End of Match procedures, the Duelists would need to be very careful. Only three turns would be played out from this point.
Ross won the roll and is playing first. He had a hand of Summoner’s Art, Eccentrick, Steelen, Silverd, and Volflame. He played Summoner’s Art for Qliphort Scout, and that for Qliphort Monolith. He played Silverd and destroyed Scout, getting Metalfoes Combination on the field. Eccentrick came down and destroyed Combination, and Ross got another Silverd in his hand. He played Volflame, destroyed the first Silverd, and got another Combination. Steelen came next, destroying Volflame to put Fullmetalfoes Fusion on the field. He activated Silverd, and Pendulum Summoned Volflame, Scout, Eccentrick, Monolith, and Silverd! That let him play Cyber Dragon Nova, then Cyber Dragon Infinity. He then played M-X-Saber Invoker, Special Summoned Zoodiac Ramram, and used that to play Tigermortar, then Broadbull. He added Dragoons to his hand. Silverd destroyed Steelen to put Metalfoes Fusion on the field. He flipped it, fusing his Dragoons and Volflame into Metalfoes Mithrilium. Then, he used Metalfoes Fusion’s effect in the Graveyard, and drew Steelen. He played it, destroying Silverd to get Metalfoes Counter on the field. He upgraded Broadbull into Drident to finish his insane first turn. He had managed to open up with Infinity and Drident in each Duel of this Match!
Tsang played That Grass Looks Greener, and Infinity negated it – but Tsang had a second copy! He sent a ton of Infernoids and a Fairy Tail – Snow to the Graveyard! He Special Summoned Infernoid Onuncu from his hand, and activated its effect to blow away Ross’s monsters! Ross Chained Drident’s effect to destroy Onuncu, but still lost everything. His Mithrilium’s effect activated, and he Chained Metalfoes Counter – he Special Summoned Volflame and Silverd to the field in Defense Position. Tsang simply banished three more Infernoids, and brought Onuncu back to the field again! Ross flipped Fullmetalfoes Fusion, but Onuncu negated it by Tributing itself, and Ross lost his monsters again. Tsang continued, playing Zoodiac Barrage and having it destroy itself to get Zoodiac Thoroughblade on the field. He used it to play Tigermortar, then Broadbull, and had Broadbull add Zoodiac Ratpier to his hand. He Special Summoned Infernoid Seitsemas from the Graveyard, then Normal Summoned Zoodiac Whiptail. He attacked directly with Whiptail and Seitsemas. Broadbull attacked, and Tsang used Whiptail’s effect to attach it to Broadbull, powering it up. Finally, he Special Summoned Fairy Tail – Snow from his Graveyard to finish the Match! He managed to deal 8450 damage in a single turn!
