Welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Denver, Colorado!

We’re here in the Centennial State for the first YCS under the March 31, 2017 Forbidden & Limited List! Zoodiac monsters had been running rampant in recent tournaments, but the new Semi-Limitation on Zoodiac Ratpier may stifle the Zoodiac monsters’ proliferation this weekend. Pendulum-based strategies also took a hit under the new Forbidden & Limited List, with Majespecter Unicorn – Kirin reaching Forbidden status. The new Limitation on Maxx “C” and the Forbidding of Vanity’s Emptiness are also certain to have an impact this weekend, as Duelists will need to modify their Decks to accommodate their new statuses.

But amidst all of the loss for Duelists brought by the new Forbidden & Limited List, there’s also a ton of gain. The new Duelist Saga booster set came alongside the Forbidden & Limited List on March 31st, adding lots of cool new cards to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME, including Legacy of the Duelist, Elemental HERO Honest Neos, Chaos Scepter Blast, and Cosmic Blazar Dragon.

But perhaps the greatest impact on the Dueling world that was brought by Duelist Saga and the new Forbidden & Limited List is the six old cards that were previously Forbidden and that are now legal for Duelists to use in their Decks. Rescue Cat; Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier; Brain Control; Future Fusion; Imperial Order; and Sangan were all printed with slightly different text from their old versions, and are now allowed in Duelists’ Decks. The erratas to these cards, mostly brought by Duelist Saga, weaken each them. Nevertheless, they are all still incredibly powerful, and certain to have a big impact on this weekend’s tournament. Nostalgic Duelists are ecstatic to be able to include these classic cards in their Decks once again, while newer Duelists are thrilled to finally experience what it is like to wield the power of these six incredible cards.
