Round 3 features the storied conflict between super-ancient dinosaurs and the zoo.

Kevin Chong is here from New York City with his Dinosaur Yang Zing Deck, while his opponent Matthew McGlynn from Arlington Virginia is 2-0 with his Zoodiac Deck. Who will prevail? We’re about to find out. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

McGlynn started off by activating Fire Formation – Tenki and adding Zoodiac Ratpier to his hand. He then Special Summoned Speedroid Terrortop in Defense Position. He activated the effect to search for Speedroid Taketomborg. He then activated Zoodiac Barrage destroying Fire Formation – Tenki to Special Summon Zoodiac Thoroughblade. He used Zoodiac Thoroughblade’s effect to discard Ratpier to draw a card. He Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Broadbull over Ratpier and used the effect but got hit with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He then Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Tigermortar and used the effect to swap materials, putting Ratpier under it. He then used Ratpier’s effect to Special Summon the other one from the Deck and then Special Summoned Speedroid Taketomborg and combined his monsters for M-X-Saber Invoker!  After a flurry of plays involving Lunalight Black Sheep, Fusion Substitute, Elder Entity Norden, and Daigusto Emeral, McGlynn ended his turn with a field of Daigusto Emeral, Zoodiac Drident (with 2 Xyz Materials), 3 Set cards, and a Zoodiac Barrage on his field.

Chong started off with Fossil Dig, Miscellaneousaurus, Souleating Oviraptor and Speedroid Terrortop. Chong drew Twin Twisters for turn. He activated it, discarding Souleating Oviraptor, hitting 2 copies of Fire Formation – Tenki. (McGlynn later confirmed that he had opened with all 3 copies of Tenki.)  Chong then Normal Summoned Souleating Oviraptor, searching for Miscellaneousaurus which was immediately activated. McGlynn Chained Zoodiac Drident’s effect to destroy Souleating Oviraptor. Chong then Special Summoned Speedroid Terrortop, searching for Speedroid Taketomborg. He then banished 2 Dinosaurs to Special Summon Ultimate Conductor Tyranno. Going into the Battle Phase, Ultimate Conductor Tyranno attacked into Daigusto Emeral then Zoodiac Drident. He then banished Miscellaneousaurus from the Graveyard to Special Summon Jurrac Aeolo from the Deck. He used Aeolo and Speedroid Terrortop to Synchro Summon Herald of the Arc Light and passed his turn holding Speedroid Red-Eyed Dice.

McGlynn Tributed Chong’s Ultimate Conductor Tyranno for Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju!  He then Special Summoned Speedroid Terrortop searching for Speedroid Taketomborg, and attacked into Herald of the Arc Light, destroying it. In Main Phase 2, he Special Summoned Speedroid Taketomborg and Xyz Summoned Totem Bird. He then used Zoodiac Barrage to Summon Whiptail, Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Tigermortar, and swapped materials to get Zoodiac Thoroughblade under it. Then, he Summoned Zoodiac Drident over the Tigermortar and detached Tigermortar to destroy Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju before passing. Chong’s draw for turn was no help and he scooped up his cards for the next game.

Duel 2

Chong started off with Souleating Oviraptor. He used the effect, but McGlynn chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Chong discarded Miscellaneousaurus to force the effect through, Special Summoning Jurrac Aeolo. He used both monsters to Synchro Summon Denglong, First of the Yang Zing!  He used the effect to search for Nine Pillars of the Yang Zing then used the second effect sending Chiwen, Light of the Yang Zing to the Graveyard; but McGlynn chained Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy Denglong. Denglong’s final effect Special Summoned Bi’an, Earth of the Yang Zing from the Deck. He Set Nine Pillars of the Yang Zing  before passing.

McGlynn Tributed Chong’s Bi’an, Earth of the Yang Zing for Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju!  McGlynn then activated Interrupted Kaiju Slumber, clearing the field and Special Summoning Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju to his own field and Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju to Chong’s field. He then Normal Summoned Speedroid Terrortop, searched for Speedroid Taketomborg, Xyz Summoned M-X-Saber Invoker, and Special Summoned Ratpier with Invoker’s effect. He Xyz Summoned a Zoodiac Xyz Monster over Ratpier next, followed by Broadbull, and then searched for a Lunalight Black Sheep and Special Summoned another Ratpier. He used Lunalight Black Sheep to search for Fusion Substitute, activating it to Fusion Summon Elder Entity Norden. He used Norden’s effect to Special Summon Ratpier, Xyz Summoned Tigermortar over Broadbull, and then Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Drident over Tigermortar. Drident destroyed the Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju with its effect, and then Elder Entity Norden and Ratpier combined to Xyz Summon Gagaga Samurai. That put enough damage on the field to take the Match!

McGlynn takes a quick win over Chong, moving on to a 3-0 record!
