Welcome to Round 6! Kevin Lu, from Ottowa, Ontario, is packing a 60-card Deck that mixes Zoodiacs and True Draco cards, along with a suite of Plant cards including Lonefire Blossom, Baobaboon, and the new Predaplants from Maximum Crisis. He’s up against Tej Trivedi, from Ridgewood, NJ, also using a True Draco Zoodiac Deck. Although their overall strategy is the same, their Decks are very different in content and number of cards.

Duel 1

Lu won the die roll and chose to play first. He began with a hand of 2 Droll & Lock Bird, Baobaboon, True Draco Heritage, and Maxx “C”. He Summoned Baobaboon, drew Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio, and put a Droll & Lock Bird on the bottom of his Deck. He Set Heritage before passing.

Trivedi activated Terraforming, adding Dragonic Diagram to his hand, and Lu used Droll & Lock Bird. Trivedi Normal Summoned Zoodiac Whiptail, Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Boarbow, then Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Drident. Drident’s effect destroyed Baobaboon, and its effect Special Summoned two more copies of Baobaboon. However, Lu couldn’t use their effects due to his own Droll & Lock Bird. Trivedi Set a back row card, then played True Draco Heritage and used it to immediately Tribute Summon Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King! He Tributed Drident and the True King’s Return he’d just Set, and Return destroyed a Baobaboon. Master Peace destroyed the last Baobaboon in battle, dropping Lu to 6250 Life Points.

Lu drew Brilliant Fusion and activated it. Trivedi responded with Master Peace’s effect, destroying Brilliant Fusion. He played Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio, discarding Maxx “C” to Special Summon Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra, which added Instant Fusion to his hand. He stacked his plants for M-X-Saber Invoker in Defense Position, and Invoker Special Summoned Zoodiac Ratpier. Lu Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Tigermortar, and Special Summoned another Ratpier. He used Tigermortar to play Zoodiac Broadbull, and added Lunalight Black Sheep to his hand. He discarded Black Sheep to put Fusion Substitute in his hand. He turned Broadbull into Zoodiac Chakanine, and had it detach Broadbull, then Special Summon the same Broadbull. Fusion Substitute combined Chakanine and Broadbull into Elder Entity Norden, which Special Summoned Ratpier to the field. He combined Norden and a Ratpier to Summon Daigusto Emeral, and used it to shuffle back Maxx “C”, Black Sheep, and Chakanine to let him draw a new card: Zoodiac Barrage! He activated it, having it destroy itself to Special Summon Whiptail. He combined Whiptail and Ratpier for another Broadbull, which added Black Sheep to his hand again. He used that to get another Fusion Substitute. He banished his first copy of Fusion Substitute to shuffle back Norden and draw Terraforming! He activated it to get Dragonic Diagram to his hand. He played Fusion Substitute, combining Emeral and Invoker into Norden, and revived Ratpier again. He Xyz Summoned another Emeral, and used it to shuffle back his first Emeral, Ratpier, and Broadbull so he could draw Imperial Order! He used Fusion Substitute from the Graveyard again, this time drawing Maxx “C”. He played Dragonic Diagram, then Instant Fusion. Norden hit the board again, and revived Baobaboon. Lu used Dragonic Diagram to destroy Baobaboon, adding his own Master Peace to his hand. He flipped up True Draco Heritage, and Tributed it and Norden to Summon Master Peace. Heritage’s effect destroyed Trivedi’s Dragonic Diagram. He upgraded his Broadbull into Drident before finally moving to the Battle Phase. Lu crashed his Master Peace into Trivedi’s, destroying both monsters. Drident (with a Whiptail attached) attacked directly. Lu Set Imperial Order to finish his turn.

Trivedi played Dragonic Diagram, and used its effect. When Lu flipped Imperial Order, he conceded the first Duel!

Lu goes off with a ridiculous turn, dropping multiple Elder Entity Nordens and drawing a bunch of cards to put together a tough field. Trivedi will have to win two in a row if he wants to remain undefeated.

Duel 2

Trivedi began the second Duel by Normal Summoning Zoodiac Ratpier and using its effect to send Zoodiac Ramram to the Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Boarbow, and Special Summoned another Ratpier. He turned Ratpier into Broadbull, and its effect was negated by Lu’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Trivedi played Terraforming to add Dragonic Diagram to his hand. He activated it, having it destroy a Ramram from his hand to add True King’s Return to his hand. Ramram’s effect Special Summoned Ratpier to the field. He used Broadbull to Xyz Summon Zoodiac Chakanine, and had it Special Summon Ramram to the field. He used Chakanine to Xyz Summon Zoodiac Hammerkong, and that for Zoodiac Drident. Since Ramram was being affected by Chakanine it couldn’t be used for an Xyz Summon, so Trivedi destroyed Ramram with Drident, and Ramram’s effect Special Summoned Ratpier. He used his two Ratpier to Xyz Summon Broadbull, and added Lunalight Black Sheep to his hand. He used that to get Fusion Substitute, combining Broadbull and Boarbow into Elder Entity Norden. Norden brought Ramram back, and he Xyz Summoned Daigusto Emeral. He used it to recycle Broadbull, Hammerkong, and Ratpier and draw a card. He used Fusion Substitute next, putting back Norden to draw another card. He Set one card to his back row.

Lu had a hand of Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King, Performage Trick Clown, Zoodiac Whiptail, Speedroid Taketomborg, and Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio. He played Scorpio, discarding Trick Clown to Special Summon Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra. Trick Clown hit the field and dealt 1000 damage to Lu, and he added Brilliant Fusion to his hand with Cobra. He combined his Predaplants into Invoker, but lost it to Trivedi’s Drident. Lu played Brilliant Fusion next, sending Gem-Knight Garnet and Fairy Tail – Snow to the Graveyard, to Fusion Summon Gem-Knight Seraphinite in Defense Position. He used his extra Normal Summon to play Zoodiac Whiptail, and used it to Xyz Summon Broadbull. He used its effect to add Lunalight Black Sheep to his hand, and used that to get Fusion Substitute. Broadbull was upgraded into Chakanine, which brought Broadbull back to the field. Lu combined them into Norden with Fusion Substitute, and Special Summoned Whiptail with Norden’s effect. He used Trick Clown and Norden to Xyz Summon Emeral, shuffling back Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and 2 Xyz Monsters to draw Speedroid Terrortop with Emeral’s effect. He used Fusion Substitute’s effect in the Graveyard, but Trivedi used D.D. Crow to banish Norden! Lu turned Whiptail into Zoodiac Tigermortar and then Tigermortar into Drident. He sent Drident to attack Trivedi’s Drident, banishing it thanks to Whiptail. Emeral attacked Trivedi’s Emeral, and both monsters were destroyed. Drident destroyed Dragonic Diagram with its effect, and Lu ended his turn.

Trivedi Special Summoned Speedroid Terrortop, then Special Summoned Speedroid Taketomborg. He Xyz Summoned M-X-Saber Invoker, and Lu responded by Special Summoning Fairy Tail – Snow from his Graveyard! Snow’s effect turned Invoker face-down. Trivedi Normal Summoned Whiptail, and Lu’s Drident destroyed it immediately.

Lu drew Raigeki. He used his bonus Normal Summon and Tributed Seraphinite and Brilliant Fusion for Master Peace, then Normal Summoned Terrortop! He added Taketomborg to his hand, and Special Summoned it. He turned Drident into Broadbull, adding Ratpier to his hand. Next, he stacked his Speedroids for Mechquipped Angineer. Broadbull became Chakanine, which returned Whiptail to the field. Chakanine became a new Drident. Lu activated Raigeki, and Trivedi flipped True King’s Return… with nothing to use it with.

Kevin Lu is the victor, with his hybrid True Draco Plant Zoodiac Deck!
