It all comes down to this! Juan Israel Galvez Vallejo from Zelaya, Mexico and Pedro Benhumea Salto from Mexico City have made it to the Finals of the Central American World Championship Qualifier! One of these Duelists will earn an invitation to compete in the World Championship in Japan, while the other will not. A single Match will determine the fate of each of these Duelists, and the pressure on these players has never been higher. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

 

Galvez started off Duel 1 with My Body as a Shield, Zoodiac Barrage, Zoodiac Combo, and 2 copies of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit.

 

 

He activated Barrage and used its effect to destroy the Barrage and Special Summon Zoodiac Ramram from his Deck in Defense Position. He Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Broadbull over Ramram, and then used Broadbull’s effect to detach Ramram and add Zoodiac Ratpier from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Ratpier and activated its effect to send Zoodiac Whiptail from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Boarbow over Ratpier next, and then detached Ratpier to Special Summon another Ratpier from his Deck in Defense Position. Next, he Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Chakanine over Boarbow, and used Chakanine’s effect to Special Summon Ramram from his Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Drident over Chakanine, and used its effect to destroy Ramram and Special Summon Whiptail from his Graveyard. He combined Whiptail with Ratpier to Xyz Summon Daigusto Emeral, and then used Emeral’s effect to return a Ratpier to his Main Deck and a Boarbow and Chakanine to his Extra Deck. He drew Ramram from his Deck with Emeral’s effect. Next, Galvez Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Tigermortar over Broadbull, and used its effect to attach a Whiptail from his Graveyard to his Drident. He Set Zoodiac Combo and My Body as a Shield before ending his turn.

 

Benhumea Normal Summoned Zoodiac Ramram and then Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Hammerkong over it. He Xyz Summoned Broadbull next. Galvez used Drident’s effect to destroy it. Benhumea tried to use My Body as a Shield to protect it, but Galvez used his own My Body as a Shield to negate and destroy Benhumea’s copy of My Body as a Shield and protect his own Drident, assuring the Broadbull’s destruction. Next, Benhumea activated Zoodiac Barrage and tried to use its effect, but Galvez discarded Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his hand to destroy it! He Set a card to his back row before passing, and then Galvez activated Zoodiac Combo in the End Phase. Benhumea promptly conceded, seeing no way out of his situation.

 

 

Juan Israel Galvez Vallejo takes a quick victory in the first Duel! If he wins one more Duel, he’ll be representing Mexico in the World Championship!

 

Duel Two

 

Benhumea started off Duel 2 by activating Fire Formation – Tenki and adding Ratpier to his hand.

 

 

He Normal Summoned it and then Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Hammerkong over it. He detached Ratpier to Special Summon another Ratpier from his Deck next, and then Xyz Summoned Broadbull over Hammerkong. He detached Hammerkong from Broadbull to activate its effect and add Zoodiac Whiptail from his Deck to his hand. He Xyz Summoned Chakanine over Broadbull next, and used Chakanine’s effect to Special Summon Hammerkong from his Graveyard. Galvez discarded Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy Chakanine, and then Hammerkong was Summoned to the field. Benhumea Xyz Summoned Tigermortar next, and used its effect to attach an Xyz Material to Hammerkong. He Xyz Summoned Drident over Tigermortar and then passed his turn.

 

Galvez drew a card and then had 2 copies of Zoodiac Ramram, Zoodiac Ratpier, Zoodiac Whiptail, and Dimensional Barrier in his hand.  He Summoned Ramram and then attacked Drident; but Galvez attached Whiptail to the Drident, causing the Ramram to be banished from the Duel and the Drident to survive. Galvez Set a Dimensional Barrier before ending his turn. Benhumea activated Cosmic Cyclone to target Galvez’s face-down card in the End Phase, and rather than reveal his Dimensional Barrier, Galvez conceded.

 

 

Pedro Benhumea Salto takes a victory in Duel 2 as quickly as Galvez won Duel 1! One final Duel will determine which of these two competitors will be allowed to compete in the 2017 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship!

 

Duel Three

 

Galvez opened up Duel 3 with Solemn Strike, Zoodiac Barrage, My Body as a Shield, Unending Nightmare, and Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He activated Barrage and used its effect, but lost out on the effect to Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! He Set Unending Nightmare and Solemn Strike.

 

Benhumea Summoned Thoroughblade and activated the effect. Galvez tried to destroy Thoroughblade with Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, but Benhumea protected it with My Body as a Shield! Benhumea discarded Whiptail to draw a card. Next, Benhumea Xyz Summoned Hammerkong over Thoroughblade and attacked directly for 1600 points of damage. In Main Phase 2, he Xyz Summoned Chakanine over Hammerkong. He activated its effect, but Galvez flipped Solemn Strike and paid 1500 Life Points to negate it and destroy Chakanine! Galvez activated Zoodiac Barrage next, and Galvez flipped Unending Nightmare and paid 1000 Life Points to destroy the Barrage!

 

Galvez drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and then used his Barrage to have it destroy itself and Special Summon Ramram to his field. Benhumea Special Summoned Flying “C” to Galvez’s field when Ramram was Summoned. Benhumea Set My Body as a Shield and passed.

 

Benhumea drew a card and Set one card to his back row.

 

Galvez drew Dimensional Barrier and Set it.

 

Benhumea Set a card to his back row.

 

Galvez drew Zoodiac Whiptail. He Summoned it to the field and attacked directly for 1200 points of damage.

 

Benhumea Set another card to his back row and passed.

 

Galvez drew Zoodiac Combo. He attacked with Whiptail, Set the Combo, and then passed his turn.

 

Benhumea Set another card to his back row.

 

Galvez drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He switched Flying “C” to Attack Position and then attacked directly with Flying “C” and Whiptail, dropping Benhumea down to 2200 Life Points.

 

Benhumea Set a monster and passed.

 

Galvez drew a Whiptail and Summoned it. He attacked Benhumea’s face-down Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries with Whiptail, losing 600 Life Points and failing to destroy Benhumea’s Ghost Reaper. Galvez switched his Flying “C” into Defense Position and then ended his turn.

 

Benhumea activated Enemy Controller, Tributing his Ghost Reaper to target and take control of Whiptail. Galvez Chained Dimensional Barrier, and Benhumea attacked Galvez’s Whiptail with the one he took control of, destroying both monsters. He Set a monster and then passed his turn.

 

Galvez drew Fire Formation – Tenki and activated it! He searched his Deck for a copy of Thoroughblade to add to his hand and Summoned it to the field. He attacked Benhumea’s face-down Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring with Thoroughblade, flipping it face-up and costing him 100 Life Points in the battle.

 

Benhumea activated Cosmic Cyclone and paid 1000 Life Points to banish Unending Nightmare! He activated Zoodiac Barrage next, and activated its effect; but Galvez discarded Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his hand to destroy the Barrage.

 

Galvez drew another copy of My Body as a Shield and passed his turn.

 

Benhumea drew a card and passed.

 

Galvez drew Zoodiac Ratpier and Set My Body as a Shield.

 

Benhumea activated Fire Formation – Tenki; but Galvez discarded Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from his hand to stop it. Benhumea Set a monster before passing.

 

Galvez activated Fire Formation – Tenki to add Thoroughblade to his hand. He Summoned it and activated its effect to discard Ratpier and draw a card. He attacked a face-down Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to flip it face-up and passed.

 

Benhumea drew a card and passed.

 

Galvez drew My Body as a Shield and passed.

 

Benhumea drew Fire Formation – Tenki and activated it to search his Deck for Zoodiac Ratpier and add it to his hand. He Normal Summoned Ratpier and activated its effect to send Zoodiac Combo from his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Chakanine over Ratpier and detached Ratpier to Special Summon another Ratpier from his Deck. He Xyz Summoned Broadbull over Chakanine next, and used Broadbull’s effect to add Whiptail from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Tigermortar over Broadbull, and used its effect to swap its Xyz Material with a Thoroughblade. He then Xyz Summoned Boarbow over it and attacked directly thanks to Boarbow’s effect. He attached a Whiptail to Boarbow before landing the hit, dropping Galvez down to 200 Life Points!

 

 

Galvez drew a card and conceded, knowing he would be defeated by Boarbow next turn.

 

Thanks to Zoodiac Boarbow’s ability to score direct attacks, Pedro Benhumea Salto is the new Central American World Championship Qualifier winner! He will be representing Mexico in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship later this year!
