Alejandro Garcia Moreno from Mexico City won the recent Ultimate Duelist Series Championship in Peru back in February, and is a former YCS Champion having won YCS Costa Rica in March of 2016. He’s was also Mexico’s National Champion in 2016, and is now looking to represent his country in this year’s World Championship! Garcia started the tournament with a 2-Round Bye thanks to his status as an Ultimate Duelist, but now he’s here and ready to Duel! Fernando Barraza de la Pena is also a local Duelist from Mexico City, and he’s looking to take Garcia down and remain undefeated! He’s not quite as experienced as Alejandro Garcia, but he has been on a winning streak recently. He won a Last Chance Qualifier yesterday with his Performapal Deck, earning an invitation to compete this weekend, and just took down his first two opponents with those same Performapals. He’s looking to take his third consecutive victory of the day against Alejandro Garcia in this Round 3 Feature Match, but Garcia will be doing everything he can to stop him. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Barraza Summoned Zoodiac Whiptail and upgraded it into Zoodiac Hammerkong and then Zoodiac Broadbull. He then used Broadbull’s effect to add Dragoons of Draconia to his hand. He Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Chakanine over Broadbull, and then used its effect to Special Summon Whiptail from his Graveyard in Attack Position. He activated Dragoons of Draconia in his Pendulum Zone next, and then followed up by activating Duelist Alliance! He used its effect to add Pendulum Rising from his Deck to his hand. He activated it, sending Whiptail to the Graveyard and Special Summoning Peformapal Pendulum Sorcerer from his Deck. Next, he used his Sorcerer’s effect to destroy Dragoons of Draconia and the Pendulum Sorcerer itself, allowing Barraza to add Performapal Guitartle and Performapal Lizardraw to his hand. He activated Guitartle in his Pendulum Zone and then activated Lizardraw, triggering Guitartle’s effect to draw a card. Next, he destroyed his Lizardraw and sent it to his Extra Deck face-up to draw another card. He activated Performapal Partnaga in his Pendulum Zone next, and then Pendulum Summoned one Pendulum Sorcerer from his hand, and a Pendulum Sorcerer and a Dragoons of Draconia from face-up in his Extra Deck. Next, he upgraded Chakanine into Zoodiac Tigermortar, and used its effect to detach Chakanine and throw a Whiptail from the Graveyard under Tigermortar as an Xyz Material. Finally, he upgraded Tigermortar into Zoodiac Drident. He then combined a Dragoons with a Pendulum Sorcerer to Xyz Summon Tornado Dragon and ended his turn.

Garcia opened up Duel 1 with Terraforming, Zoodiac Ratpier, Zoodiac Ramram, Zoodiac Whiptail, and 2 copies of True King’s Return. He Summoned Ratpier and activated its effect. Barraza discarded Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his hand to destroy Ratpier, and then Ratpier’s effect resolved to send Whiptail to his Graveyard. He Set both copies of True King’s Return before passing, and Barraza destroyed one of them with Tornado Dragon’s effect in the End Phase. True King’s Return activated to destroy Drident.

Barraza drew a card and then used Tornado Dragon’s effect to destroy the other face-down True King’s Return, and the Return’s effect activated to destroy Tornado Dragon. Next, Barraza Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker and activated its effect to add Performapal Silver Claw from his Deck to his hand. Next, he Pendulum Summoned Silver Claw and Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from his hand. He used Partnaga’s effect to increase Silver Claw’s ATK by 1500 ATK. He attacked directly with Silver Claw, causing its effect to activate and increase the ATK of all Performapals on the field by 300. Finally, Skullcrobat Joker, Pendulum Sorcerer, and Luster Pendulum attacked directly, finishing Garcia off!

Duel Two

Garcia opened up Duel 2 with Solemn Strike, Zoodiac Barrage, Dragonic Diagram, Unending Nightmare, and True King’s Return.

He activated Dragonic Diagram, Set True King’s Return, and then used his Diagram’s effect to destroy True King’s Return and add True Draco Heritage from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Heritage and used its effect to draw Blackwing – Zephyros the Elite from his Deck. Next, he activated Zoodiac Barrage, Summoned Zephyros, and used Barrage’s effect to destroy Zephyros and Special Summon Ratpier from his Deck. He Xyz Summoned Hammerkong over Ratpier, and then used its effect to Special Summon another Ratpier from his Deck. He Xyz Summoned Broadbull over Hammerkong next, and used Broadbull’s effect to add Zoodiac Ramram from his Deck to his hand. He activated the effect of Zephyros the Elite in his Graveyard to return Diagram to his hand Special Summon Zephyros to his field. Next, he activated the Diagram and used its effect to destroy the Ramram in his hand and add Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King from his Deck to his hand. He used Ramram’s effect to Special Summon Ratpier from his Graveyard, and then Xyz Summoned Chakanine over Broadbull. He used Chakanine’s effect to Special Summon Ramram from his Graveyard, and then Tributed True Draco Heritage and Ratpier to Summon Master Peace. Next, he Xyz Summoned Tigermortar over Chakanine and used its effect to swap an Xyz Material with the Ratpier in his Graveyard. He combined Zephyros and a Ratpier to Xyz Summon Daigusto Emeral and then used its effect to return 3 cards to his Deck and draw Fire Formation – Tenki. Next, he Special Summoned another Ratpier from his Deck with the effect of Tigermortar, and Xyz Summoned Broadbull over Tigermortar. He Xyz Summoned Drident over Tigermortar, and then used Drident’s effect to destroy his Ramram and Special Summon another Ratpier from his Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned another Daigusto Emeral next, and used its effect to return another 3 cards from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He activated Fire Formation – Tenki next, adding Zoodiac Whiptail to his hand. He Set 2 cards to his back row before ending his turn.

Barraza activated Guitartle in his Pendulum Zone and then activated Partnaga in his other Pendulum Zone. He activated Guitartle’s effect, and Garcia flipped Unending Nightmare to destroy Guitartle; but Barraza Chained Twin Twisters from his hand to discard Pendulum Sorcerer and destroy Unending Nightmare and Garcia’s face-down Strike. Garcia Chained Drident’s effect to destroy Guitartle. Barraza Normal Summoned Ratpier next and activated its effect, but Garcia Chained Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his hand to destroy Ratpier. Ratpier’s effect resolved to send Ramram from his Deck to his Graveyard. Barraza activated Zoodiac Barrage next, and Garcia used the effect of Master Peace to destroy it. Barraza promptly conceded, completely outmatched by Garcia’s opening.

Garcia takes a crushing victory in Duel 2, and pushes the Match to a third and final Duel!

Duel Three

Barraza started off Duel 3 by activating Zoodiac Barrage and using its effect to destroy it and Special Summon Zoodiac Ratpier from his Deck.

Next, he Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Hammerkong over Ratpier, and Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Broadbull over Hammerkong. He used Broadbull’s effect granted by Ratpier to detach Ratpier and Special Summon a Ratpier from his hand, and then used Broadbull’s other effect to add Dragoons of Draconia from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker next, and activated its effect to add a Pendulum Sorcerer to his hand. Next, he Xyz Summoned Chakanine over Broadbull, and activated its effect to Special Summon Hammerkong from his Graveyard in Defense Position. He upgraded Chakanine into Tigermortar, and then combined Ratpier with Skullcrobat Joker to Xyz Summon King of the Feral Imps. He detached an Xyz Material from the King to add Performapal Partnaga to his hand and then activated Lizardraw in his Pendulum Zone. He activated Dragoons of Draconia in his other Pendulum Zone and then Pendulum Summoned Pendulum Sorcerer from his hand. He used its effect to destroy both of his Pendulum Scales and send them face-up to his Extra Deck, and add Guitartle and Lizardraw to his hand. He activated Guitartle, and then activated Lizardraw, triggering Guitartle’s effect to draw a card. Next, he used Lizardraw’s effect to send it to his Extra Deck and draw another card. He activated Tigermortar’s effect next, detaching an Xyz Material to attach Broadbull from the Graveyard onto Hammerkong. Next, he upgraded Tigermortar into Boarbow, and then Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Drident over Boarbow.

He Set 1 card to his back row before ending is turn.

Garcia opened up Duel 3 with Torrential Tribute, True King’s Return, Zoodiac Thoroughblade, Fire Formation – Tenki, and Cosmic Cyclone. He drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit for his turn. He activated Cosmic Cyclone and gave up 1000 Life Points to banish Garcia’s face-down Duelist Alliance. Next, he activated Tenki and used its effect to add Ramram to his hand. He Summoned Thoroughblade next, and declined to activate its effect. He Xyz Summoned Hammerkong over Thoroughblade, and then Barraza activated his Drident’s effect to destroy Hammerkong. Garcia Set Torrential Tribute and True King’s Return, and then Hammerkong gave up an Xyz Material in the End Phase.

Barraza activated Partnaga in his Pendulum Zone and then activated the effect of his Guitartle; but Garcia discarded Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his hand to destroy Guitartle and send it face-up to the Extra Deck. Next, Barraza Xyz Summoned Broadbull over Hammerkong and used its effect to add Thoroughblade to his hand. He Summoned Thoroughblade next and activated its effect; but Garcia flipped Torrential Tribute to clear the field! After all monsters went to the Graveyard, Thoroughblade’s effect resolved to allow Barraza to discard Ramram and draw 1 card. Barraza activated Deck Lockdown before ending his turn.

Garcia drew Zephyros the Elite and then Normal Summoned Zoodiac Ramram. He Xyz Summoned Boarbow over it, and then Xyz Summoned Chakanine and used its effect to Special Summon Thoroughblade in Attack Position. Barraza discarded Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his hand to destroy Chakanine, and then Thoroughblade hit the field.

Garcia drew Terraforming and then Xyz Summoned Broadbull over Thoroughblade. He Xyz Summoned Tigermortar over Broadbull, and then used Tigermortar’s effect to swap the Broadbull Material with Hammerkong. Next, he upgraded Tigermortar into Chakanine, and used its effect to Special Summon Ramram from his Graveyard in Attack Position. He upgraded Chakanine into Drident, and used its effect to destroy Deck Lockdown. He activated Terraforming next, adding Dragonic Diagram to his hand, and then activated it; but Barraza flipped Magic Deflector to negate it. Zephyros attacked Barraza’s face-down Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, and Garcia lost 200 Life Points in the battle.

Barraza drew and activated Duelist Alliance. He added Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer to his hand and then Normal Summoned it to the field. He used Partnaga’s effect to increase the ATK of Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit by 300 and then attacked Drident with Luster Pendulum; but Drident’s effect activated to destroy Luster Pendulum.

Garcia drew Maxx “C”. He used Drident’s effect to destroy Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, and Barraza Chained the effect of his on-field Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy Drident. Garcia used his Diagram to destroy his own Zephyros and add Master Peace to his hand. He then Special Summoned Zephyros from the Graveyard by returning Diagram to his hand. He then upgraded Ramram into Broadbull, and used its effect to add Ratpier to his hand. He then reactivated Diagram and its effect to destroy the Ratpier and add True Draco Heritage to his hand. He upgraded Broadbull into Tigermortar, used its effect to grab a Ratpier as an Xyz Material, and then Special Summoned a Ratpier from his Deck. He combined Ratpier with Zephyros to Xyz Summon Daigusto Emeral and then used his Emeral’s effect to return 3 cards to his Deck and draw a Whiptail. He Xyz Summoned Chakanine over Tigermortar next, and used its effect to Special Summon Ramram from his Graveyard in Defense Position. He upgraded Chakanine into Drident, and then used Drident’s effect to destroy Ramram. He used Ramram’s effect to Special Summon Ratpier from his Graveyard, and then Normal Summoned Whiptail. He combined Whiptail with Ratpier to Xyz Summon Tornado Dragon, and used his Dragon’s effect to destroy Barraza’s last remaining card: the Partnaga in his Pendulum Zone. Next, Garcia Set True King’s Return and used the effect of Heritage to Tribute Return and Drident for Master Peace. He activated Barrage next, and destroyed Tenki to Special Summon Whiptail from his Deck. Whiptail, Tornado Dragon, Daigusto Emeral, and Master Peace attacked directly, finishing Barraza off!
