Marco Antonio Islas Tinagero and Pedro Benhumea Salto are both local Duelists from Mexico City that have made it into the Top 64. Islas made it here with his ABC Deck, while Benhumea is using a more conventional Zoodiac Deck. We’re about to find out which one will prevail in this Top 32 Feature Match! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Islas opened with two copies of A–Assault Core, C–Crush Wyvern, Union Hangar, and Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo.

He activated Union Hanger to add B-Buster Drake to his hand, Set Fossil Dyna, and then ended his turn.

Benhumea Normal Summoned Zoodiac Ratpier and activated its effect to send Zoodiac Ramram from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Hammerkong over Ratpier, and then Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Broadbull over Hammerkong. He detached an Xyz Material from Broadbull to Special Summon Ratpier from his Deck and then used Broadbull’s effect to add Zoodiac Whiptail to his hand. Next, he Xyz Summoned Zoodiac Chakanine and used its effect to Special Summon Ramram from his Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned Boarbow over Chakanine and then Drident over Boarbow. He used Drident’s effect to destroy Ramram and then used Ramram’s effect to Special Summon a Ratpier from his Graveyard. He combined two Ratpiers to Xyz Summon Daigusto Emeral and then used its effect to send 3 monsters back to his Deck and draw a card. Next, he attached Whiptail to Drident and attacked Islas’s face-down Fossil Dyna. It flipped face-up, and then Benhumea activated Forbidden Chalice from his hand to negate its effect. Fossil Dyna was banished thanks to Whiptail, and Emeral attacked directly. Drident destroyed Union Hangar by giving up an Xyz Material and then Benhumea Set a card to his back row.

Islas drew Dark Hole. He Set a monster and activated Dark Hole, but lost out to My Body as a Shield!

Benhumea activated the effect of his Emeral to send Ratpier back to his Deck and Boarbow and Broadbull back to his Extra Deck and draw 1 card. Next, he activated Fire Formation – Tenki to add Ratpier to his hand. He Summoned Ratpier and used its effect to send Zoodiac Combo to his Graveyard, and then upgraded Ratpier into Hammerkong and Special Summoned another Ratpier from his Deck. He upgraded Hammerkong into Broadbull and then used Broadbull’s effect to add a Whiptail to his hand. He Xyz Summoned Chakanine over Broadbull, and used its effect to Special Summon a Ramram. He Xyz Summoned Boarbow and then Drident over Chakanine and used Drident’s effect to destroy Ramram and Special Summon a Ratpier from his Graveyard with Ramram’s effect. He Xyz Summoned Abyss Dweller and then attacked Islas’s face-down C-Crush Wyvern with Drident, banishing it. The rest of Benhumea’s monsters attacked Islas directly, and when Islas drew a card on his next turn, he conceded.

Duel Two

Islas opened Duel 2 with Thunder King Rai-Oh, Quaking Mirror Force, Book of Moon, Card of Demise, and Fossil Dyna. He Summoned Fossil Dyna, Set two cards to his back row, and then activated Card of Demise! He drew A-Assault Wyvern and B-Buster Drake, and then discarded both of them along with Rai-Oh in his End Phase.

Benhumea activated Dark Hole to clear the field and then Summoned Zoodiac Ramram.

He Xyz Summoned Hammerkong over it and then Xyz Summoned Broadbull. Islas flipped Book of Moon to put Broadbull face-down. Benhumea Set 2 cards to his back row before passing.

Islas drew and activated Union Hangar, but Benhumea flipped Cosmic Cyclone and gave up 1000 Life Points to banish it.

Benhumea Flip Summoned Broadbull and used its effect to add Ratpier from his Deck to his hand. He Summoned Ratpier and used its effect to send Zoodiac Combo to the Graveyard. He Xyz Summoned Chakanine over Broadbull, and used its effect to Special Summon Ramram from his Graveyard. Next, he Xyz Summoned Boarbow over Ratpier, and detached Ratpier to Special Summon another Ratpier from his Deck. He Xyz Summoned Broadbull over Boarbow, and then used Broadbull’s effect to add Zoodiac Thoroughblade from his Deck to his hand. He Xyz Summoned Drident next, and used it to destroy Ramram and Special Summon Ratpier from his Graveyard with Ramram’s effect. He combined his two Ratpiers to Xyz Summon Daigusto Emeral and activated its effect to send three monsters back to his Deck and draw a card. He Xyz Summoned Tigermortar next, and used its effect to attach Ramram to Drident as an Xyz Material. Emeral attacked directly, and Benhumea Set a card to his back row.

Benhumea Xyz Summoned Broadbull over Tigermortar and used its effect to add a Zoodiac Whiptail to his hand. Next, he activated Daigusto Emeral’s effect to send Broadbull and Boarbow back to his Extra Deck and Ratpier back to his Main Deck and draw a card. He activated Fire Formation – Tenki next, and when Islas Chained Imperial Order to try to negate it, Benhumea Chained Drident’s effect to destroy Imperial Order. Benhumea added Ramram to his hand with Tenki. Benhumea Summoned Thoroughblade next, and used its effect to discard Ramram and draw a card. Benhumea attacked, but all three of his Attack Position monsters were put face-down by Quaking Mirror Force.

Islas drew a card and Set it.

Benhumea Summoned Thoroughblade and activated its effect. He attacked directly with Thoroughblade. He used Tenki to add Ratpier to his hand and passed.

Islas drew a card and Set it to his back row.

Benhumea attacked with Thoroughblade, dropping Islas down to 2700 Life Points. Benhumea Set a card to his back row before passing.

Islas drew another Quaking Mirror Force and Set it.

Benhumea Tributed two of his face-down monsters to Summon Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju and then attacked. Islas flipped Quaking Mirror Force, and when Benhumea tried to destroy his own Thoroughblade with Drident’s effect to stop it from going face-down, Islas used Breakthrough Skill to negate Drident’s effect.

Islas drew a card and Set it.

Benhumea drew Gameciel and Tribute Summoned it by Tributing two more of his face-down monsters. He attacked directly with Gameciel.

Islas drew a card and Set it.

Benhumea attacked again with his Gameciel to finish Islas off!

Benhumea defeats Islas and his ABC Deck 2-0 to advance to the Top 16!
