The first Championship of the weekend is about to be decided!  Every YCS weekend the winner of the Saturday Dragon Duel and the Sunday Dragon Duel go head-to-head to decide one final Champion, and that Match is now!  Matthew Kozlov is playing True King Dinosaurs, while Charley Ray Futch is piloting True Draco Zoodiacs, but was in the midst of bluffing Matthew in a bid to try and convince him he’s playing Chain Burn.

The winner of this Match claims a Dragon Duel Championship Trophy and a complete set of all three Darklord Prize Cards!  The stakes are high, and both Duelists understand how important this last set of Duels will be. Futch is no stranger to high stakes Dueling, as he’s fresh off of a Top 4 finish at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Dragon Duel World Championship in Tokyo, Japan. Will Matthew Kozlov be able to overcome this Dragon Dueling titan? We’re about to find out. It’s time to Duel!

Futch started the Match with a hand of Dragonic Diagram; Different Dimension Ground; two Terraforming; and Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter.  He activated Dragonic Diagram, destroyed Terraforming to search his Deck for True Draco Heritage, then searched for another Diagram with his second Terraforming.  He activated that Diagram, used it to destroy his True Draco Heritage, and got another Heritage for his troubles.  He activated the fresh Heritage, used its effect to draw Raigeki, and Tributed away the Heritage for Dinomight Knight.  He Set Different Dimension Ground to finish his turn.

Kozlov Normal Summoned Souleating Oviraptor and Futch added True King’s Return to the field with Dinomight Knight’s effect.  Kozlov sent Miscellaneousaurus to the Graveyard with Oviraptor, then Special Summoned Jurrac Aeolo.  Futch flipped Different Dimension Ground. Kozlov Tuned Oviraptor and Aeolo for Denglong, First of the Yang Zing, and his Synchro Materials were banished.  He activated Denglong’s effect to search for Nine Pillars of Yang Zing, Set it, and Set another card to his Spell and Trap Card Zone.

Futch topdecked Zoodiac Thoroughblade, activated Diagram’s effect to destroy his True King’s Return, searched for Heritage, and destroyed Denglong with Return’s effect.  Futch drew with True Draco Heritage, getting another True King’s Return, and attacked with Dinomight Knight for 2800 points of Battle Damage.  Futch Normal Summoned Thoroughblade in Main Phase 2, overlaid it with Zoodiac Boarbow, then Zoodiac Broadbull, and detached Boarbow to search for Zoodiac Whiptail.  He overlaid for Zoodiac Drident next, then Zoodiac Chakanine, detaching Drident to revive it with Chakanine’s effect.  He overlaid for Zoodiac Tigermortar next, attaching Boarbow to Drident, and finally overlaid Tigermortar into Zoodiac Hammerkong.  He Set True King’s Return, then ended his turn and detached Tigermortar for Hammerkong.

Kozlov searched his Deck for Miscellaneousaurus with Fossil Dig, then discarded it for its effect.  A second Fossil Dig got him another Miscellaneousaurus. Kozlov thought he could activate the next Miscellaneousaurus’s effect too, just to load his Graveyard, but was informed he could not.  He Normal Summoned Souleating Oviraptor, searched for Conductor Tyranno, and attacked with Oviraptor into Hammerkong. Futch dropped Whiptail, attaching it to win the battle and banish Oviraptor.

Kozlov pitched his next Miscellaneousaurus in Main Phase 2, then banished it to Special Summon Ultimate Conductor Tyranno.  He activated its effect to destroy Petiteranodon from his hand, turning the opposing monsters face-down.  He Special Summoned Megalosmasher X with Petiteranodon’s effect and ended his turn.

Futch drew Shuffle Reborn, activated Raigeki to wipe the field, and searched for Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King from his Deck by destroying Heritage with Diagram.  He flipped his Hammerkong and Dinomight Knight, Tributed Dinomight and Apocalypse to Summon Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King, then Flip Summoned Zoodiac Drident.  He overlaid Hammerkong with Zoodiac Broadbull, searched his deck for Zoodiac Whiptail by detaching Hammerkong, and overlaid for a second Drident.  He attacked with Master Peace, then attacked with Drident, adding one last Whiptail to make game!

Charley Futch takes the first win with authority, now just one Duel away from a Dragon Duel Trophy, a full set of Darklord Prize Cards, and the title of YCS Toronto Dragon Duel Champion!

Kozlov would begin the second Duel, getting things started with Blackwing – Gofu the Vague Shadow.

He played it into two Link Spiders, then Linked everything for Decode Talker!  He Normal Summoned Souleating Oviraptor next, and Futch let him search for Miscellaneousaurus.  He discarded it for its effect, banished it, and Futch cut him off with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

Futch had Pot of Desires; Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring; Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King; Zoodiac Ramram; and  True Draco Apocalypse. He Normal Summoned Zoodiac Ramram, Kozlov dropped Maxx “C”, and Futch responded with his second Ash Blossom.  Futch overlaid Zoodiac Ramram with Zoodiac Boarbow, Kozlov dropped Flying “C” to Futch’s field, and Futch banished ten cards to draw two with Pot of Desires.

Futch searched Dragonic Diagram with Terraforming, destroyed the Flying “C” to search Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter, and overlaid Boarbow with Zoodiac Broadbull.  He detached an Xyz Material to search for Zoodiac Whiptail, overlaid Zoodiac Chakanine, activated its effect to revive Ramram, and then overlaid Chakanine with Zoodiac Drident.  He played True Draco Heritage, Set a back row, used the extra Summon effect, and Tributed for Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King.  He tried to destroy Decode Talker with his True Draco Apocalypse effect, but Kozlov gave up his Oviraptor to keep Decode Talker on the table.

Futch Set True King’s Return, attacked Decode Talker with Master Peace, destroying it, and then made a direct attack with Zoodiac Drident, buffing it with Zoodiac Whiptail.  Futch ended his turn.

Kozlov drew for his turn, Futch flipped True King’s Return, and when Kozlov Summoned Souleating Oviraptor and used its effect, Futch blew it away with Master Peace’s effect.  Kozlov searched for Miscellaneousaurus, pitched it for its effect, banished from his Graveyard to Special Summon Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, and then banished Miscellaneousaurus to Special Summon Jurrac Aeolo. Then he fed the Aeolo to Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, turning the opposing Drident face-down.  He attacked Drident with Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, Drident was destroyed, and Conductor Tyranno was banished.

Futch Tribute Summoned Dinomight Knight on Kozlov’s turn, and when Futch drew and Kozlov processed that he had no cards left, Kozlov conceded.

Charley Ray Futch wins the Match, and becomes the Dragon Duel Champion of YCS Toronto!
