It’s Round 6, and we have two undefeated Michigan Duelists here! Jeff Jones is using a Pendulum Magician Deck, a strategy that’s shown to be very popular this weekend. The newest Forbidden & Limited List left the strategy largely untouched, and even gave them three copies of Wavering Eyes to play with if they so desire. He’s up against Zachary Poling’s Infernoid Deck! Infernoids dropped in popularity after That Grass Looks Greener was Limited over the summer, but this weekend’s it’s proving that it is still a Deck not to be trifled with. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Jones won the roll and chose to play first. He began with a hand of 3 Wisdom-Eye Magician, Harmonizing Magician, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He played two of his Wisdom-Eyes, using their effects to put Oafdragon Magician and Black Fang Magician in his Pendulum Zones, and used Oafdragon to get a Wisdom-Eye back to his hand. He Pendulum Summoned a Wisdom-Eye from his Extra Deck, along with a Wisdom-Eye and Harmonizing Magician from his hand, and Harmonizing Special Summoned Double Iris Magician. He Tuned Harmonizing to Wisdom-Eye for PSY-Framelord Omega, banishing it and Void Imagination from Poling’s hand. He then Xyz Summoned Timestar Magician, which added Performapal Skullcrobat Joker to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, adding Purple Poison Magician to his hand.

Poling used Raigeki, and Jones used Timestar to protect Skullcrobat Joker, sending Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer to the Graveyard. Poling played Infernoid Harmadik and had it destroy Skullcrobat Joker.

Jones drew Pot of Desires and returned PSY-Framelord Omega to the field in his Main Monster Zone. He played Pot of Desires, but Poling had Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Jones used Oafdragon to get Harmonizing back to his hand. He Pendulum Summoned Wisdom-Eye from his Extra Deck, and Purple Poison, Wisdom-Eye, and Harmonizing from his hand! He used Harmonizing’s effect to Special Summon a Black Fang Magician to the field as well. He Tuned Harmonizing to Wisdom-Eye for Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer! Poling picked up his cards, knowing this Duel was over.

Jones takes a commanding first Duel! Poling chose to play first in the second Duel.

Duel 2

Poling started off with Pot of Desires. He used One for One, discarding Infernoid Onuncu, to get Infernoid Decatron. Decatron sent Harmadik to the Graveyard, then Poling played Fairy Tail – Snow. He Xyz Summoned Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn, detaching Snow to send Dimensional Barrier, Infernoid Patrulea, and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to the Graveyard. He Set two cards to his back row to finish.

Jones had Pot of Desires, Astrograph Sorcerer, Wisdom-Eye Magician, Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, Purple Poison Magician, and Duelist Alliance. He played Pot of Desires to draw Double Iris Magician and Time Pendulumgraph. He played Wisdom-Eye in his Pendulum Zone, then used Duelist Alliance to get Star Pendulumgraph. He played Purple Poison in his other Pendulum Zone, then activated Star Pendulumgraph. Poling Chained Twin Twisters to destroy Star Pendulumgraph and Wisdom-Eye, discarding another Twin Twisters. That allowed Jones to activate Astrograph Sorcerer in his hand, and Poling flipped up Dimensional Barrier to block the Summons of Pendulum Monsters this turn! Jones Normal Summoned Double Iris Magician, and sent it to attack Minerva. Poling Special Summoned Fairy Tail – Snow from his Graveyard, turning Double Iris face-down. Jones Set Time Pendulumgraph to finish his turn.

Poling used Minerva, sending another Snow, Ash Blossom, and Heavy Storm Duster to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Onuncu from his Graveyard, banishing three Infernoids from his Graveyard. He attacked with Snow to destroy Double Iris. Jones used the effects of Double Iris and Astrograph Sorcerer, and added Time Pendulumgraph and another Double Iris to his hand. Onuncu attacked the Astrograph Sorcerer, and Jones flipped up Time Pendulumgraph. Onuncu Tributed Snow to negate and banish it. The attack from Onuncu continued, and Jones used the effect of Purple Poison in his Pendulum Zone! It boosted Astrograph’s ATK, then destroyed itself, taking Minerva down with it. Minerva’s effect sent Void Feast, Void Vanishment, and Infernoid Devyaty to the Graveyard. Onuncu’s attack was still going, and it now lost the battle against the boosted Astrograph.

Jones drew Wisdom-Eye Magician. He played it and Double Iris in his Pendulum Zone, and Wisdom-Eye was traded in for Oafdragon Magician. He used it to get Purple Poison back in his hand, then Pendulum Summoned Purple Poison and Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer from his hand, and Wisdom-Eye from the Extra Deck; but Poling flipped Solemn Strike! Astrograph attacked directly, and Jones Set Time Pendulumgraph.

Poling had no cards other than the one he just drew. He Set it in his back row.

Jones drew Performapal Skullcrobat Joker! He got Wisdom-Eye Magician back with Oafdragon, then played Joker to get Black Fang Magician. He Pendulum Summoned Black Fang from his hand and Double Iris from his Extra Deck, and moved to the Battle Phase. Poling used Snow in his Graveyard, bringing it back in Attack Position and turning Astrograph face-down. Jones flipped up Time Pendulumgraph, destroying Snow and his Black Fang, and he Special Summoned Purple Poison with its effect. His Magicians attacked, ending the Match!
