Round 11 Feature Match: Cristopher Geovany Ramos vs. Dean Arbuckle
This is the last round of Swiss! After this, we cut to the Top 32 and enter a Single Elimination playoff until only 1 Duelist is left standing. Until then, we have a Table 10 matchup between Cristopher Geovany Ramos from Houston, Texas and his Dinosaur Deck playing against Dean Arbuckle from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and his SPYRAL Deck. A 9-2 record has a very good chance of making the Top 32, but an 8-3 record is either unlikely or impossible to make Top 32. Which Duelist will come out of this Round 11 match victorious? Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!
Duel 1
Ramos won the roll and elected to go first. He started with Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, 2 copies of Terraforming, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit and True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher. He started off by activating Terraforming adding Dragonic Diagram to hand. He then activated the other Terraforming, adding another Dragonic Diagram to hand. He passed making no other plays.
Arbuckle started off with SPYRAL Resort and used its effect but Ramos cleared it with Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit! Arbuckle then Normal Summoned SPYRAL GEAR – Drone and used the effect to rearrange the top 3 cards of Ramos’d Deck. “This is a tough choice”, he lamented. He put the cards back and activated SPYRAL Super Agent declaring Monsters, revealing Ultimate Conductor Tyranno on top of the Deck, forcing the quick concession from Ramos.
Duel 2
Ramos elected to go first. He started with a hand of Terraforming, Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher, Giant Rex and Fossil Dig. He activated Fossil Dig, adding Souleating Oviraptor to hand, and Arbuckle activated Droll & Lock Bird to stop Deck-to-hand searching for the rest of the turn. Ramos then Normal Summoned Souleating Oviraptor and used its effect to send Miscellaneousaurus to the Graveyard, but Arbuckle banished it with D.D. Crow! He passed there.
Arbuckle drew and passed.
Ramos drew Anti-Spell Fragrance for turn. He activated Terraforming to add Dragonic Diagram to hand. He then Normal Summoned Giant Rex. He then Xyz Summoned Evolzar Dolkka! Dolkka then attacked for 2300. In Main Phase 2, Ramos Set Dragonic Diagram and Anti-Spell Fragrance and passed.
In Arbuckle’s Standby Phase, Ramos flipped-up Anti-Spell Fragrance. Arbuckle jumped to the end of the Battle Phase and activated Evenly Matched from his hand, forcing Ramos to banish all but 1 card face-down. He chose to keep Evolzar Dolkka on the field, banishing Anti-Spell Fragrance and the face-down Dragonic Diagram. Arbuckle activated Raigeki to clear Evolzar Dolkka from the field. He then Normal Summoned SPYRAL GEAR – Drone and used its effect to rearrange the top 3 cards of Ramos’s Deck. He then activated Machine Duplication to Summon 2 more copies of SPYRAL GEAR – Drone. He used 2 Drones to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix! He used its effect, declaring Traps, revealing Anti-Spell Fragrance off the top of Ramos’s Deck, and Arbuckle Special Summoned SPYRAL Master Plan and her effect added SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue to hand. SPYRAL Master Plan and the 3rd SPYRAL GEAR – Drone were used to Link Summon Ib the World Chalice Priestess! SPYRAL Master Plan’s effect activated in the Graveyard, adding SPYRAL Sleeper and SPYRAL Resort to hand. SPYRAL Resort was activated and its effect added SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort from Deck to hand. Arbuckle then equipped SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort to Sleeper, he Set a Spell/Trap and in the End Phase, SPYRAL Resort’s effect put a Droll & Lock Bird in Arbuckle’s Graveyard back into the Deck.
Ramos drew the Anti-Spell Fragrance that was stacked on top of the Deck. He Special Summoned Ultimate Conductor Tyranno by banishing Rex and Souleating Oviraptor. Giant Rex’s effect activated to Special Summon itself but Arbuckle chained Maxx “C”! After that, Arbuckle flipped SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue, then SPYRAL Sleeper was Chained targeting SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue and Ramos’s Ultimate Conductor Tyranno and Giant Rex. Ramos extended the handshake, unable to contest the field.
