Round 5 Feature Match: Ramon Humberto Jacquez vs. Randy Louis Richardson
Our Round 5 Feature Match features two Duelists from Dallas, Texas, and they’re both undefeated! Ramon Humberto Jacquez has a Trickstar Deck while Randy is piloting SPYRALs. Only one of them will remain undefeated after this round. Which one will it be? Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!
Duel 1
Jacquez won the roll and elected to go first.
He started off with a hand of 2 copies of Droll & Lock Bird, Cosmic Cyclone, Dark Hole, and Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju. He Set Cosmic Cyclone and passed.
Richardson started off by activating Cosmic Cylone, banishing Jacquez’s Set Cosmic Cyclone. He then activated Terraforming getting SPYRAL Resort, but Jacquez activated Droll & Lock Bird to prevent further Deck searching this turn. Jacquez then activated SPYRAL Super Agent declaring Monsters, revealing Trickstar Candina off the top of Jacquez’s deck! Foolish Burial came down next, sending SPYRAL Quik-Fix to the Graveyard and then Richardson discarded SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue from hand to Special Summon SPYRAL Quik-Fix from the Graveyard. Then, Richardson activated Machine Duplication to Special Summon 2 more SPYRAL Quik-Fix, both in Defense Position. Two of them were used to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix! SPYRAL Double Helix’s effect was activated to Special Summon SPYRAL GEAR – Drone from the Deck! (He called Monsters and Trickstar Candina was still on top of Jacquez’s Deck.) SPYRAL GEAR – Drone’s effect was activated, allowing Richardson to rearrange the top 3 cards of Jacquez’s Deck. Richardson then sent SPYRAL GEAR – Drone and Quik-Fix to the Graveyard to Link Summon Proxy Dragon and sent SPYRAL Resort from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon Quik-Fix from the Graveyard. He then used that SPYRAL Quik-Fix, SPYRAL Super Agent and Proxy Dragon to Link Summon Borreload Dragon! He then banished SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue from the Graveyard to Special Summon SPYRAL Super Agent from the Graveyard. Then, SPYRAL Super Agent and SPYRAL Double Helix were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Decode Talker! Finally, SPYRAL GEAR – Drone’s effect was activated in the Graveyard, banishing itself and Resort to add SPYRAL Super Agent from the Graveyard to the hand. Richardson Normal Summoned the Super Agent. All 3 monsters attacked and in Main Phase 2, he sent SPYRAL Super Agent and Decode Talker to the Graveyard to Link Summon Firewall Dragon.
Jacquez drew Cosmic Cyclone. He activated Dark Hole, and Richardson chained Firewall Dragon’s effect, sending his SPYRAL Super Agent in the Graveyard back to his hand. Jacquez Set Droll & Lock Bird and passed.
Richardson activated SPYRAL Super Agent declaring Spells, revealing Trickstar Trickstar Light Stage (this was a guaranteed successful call since Richardson used SPYRAL GEAR – Drone to rearrange the top 3 cards of Jacquez’s Deck, and Trickstar Light Stage was the second card). SPYRAL Super Agent came down, and the in-Graveyard SPYRAL Quik-Fix was activated, discarding Machine Duplication. SPYRAL Quik-Fix‘s effect activated, adding SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red to Richardson’s hand. SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red was activated Special Summoning SPYRAL Double Helix from the Graveyard! Its effect was used, declaring Spells, to Special Summon SPYRAL Master Plan from the Deck. SPYRAL Master Plan and SPYRAL Double Helix combined to Link Summon Gaia Saber, the Lightning Shadow. SPYRAL Master Plan used its effect to add Resort and SPYRAL Sleeper to Richardson’s hand. Gaia attacked into the face-down Droll & Lock Bird and the rest of the monsters attacked for game!
Duel 2
Jacquez elected to go first. He started with a hand of Trickstar Lycrois, Anti-Spell Fragrance, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and 2 copies of Scapegoat. He Normal Summoned Trickstar Lycoris, Set 2 Scapegoats and Anti-Spell Fragrance, and passed.
Richardson drew for turn and took 200 points of damage from Trickstar Lycoris. In the Standby Phase, Jacquez activated Anti-Spell Fragrance. Richardson Set a card to the back and a Field Spell before passing.
Jacquez drew another Anti-Spell Fragrance for turn. He attacked with Trickstar Lycoris, Set Anti-Spell Fragrance and passed.
Richardson drew and took another 200 from Trickstar Lycoris. He flipped up the Set SPYRAL Resort and added SPYRAL Super Agent to hand, taking another 200 from Trickstar Lycoris. Richardson then flipped the Set One for One, discarding D.D. Crow, Jacquez chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, but Richardson chained PSY-Framegear Gamma from his hand! The Chain resolved with Richardson Special Summoning SPYRAL Quik-Fix, PSY-Framegear Gamma and PSY-Frame Driver! SPYRAL Quik-Fix’s added SPYRAL GEAR – Drone to hand, inflicting another 200 damage thanks to Trickstar Lycoris. SPYRAL GEAR – Drone’s effect let Richardson rearrange the top 3 cards of Jacquez’s Deck. SPYRAL GEAR – Drone and SPYRAL Quik-Fix were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix! Its effect was used, calling Traps and revealing Trickstar Reincarnation off the top, Special Summoning SPYRAL Master Plan from the Deck. SPYRAL Master Plan was used to add SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue to hand, and Trickstar Lycoris burned for another 200 points of damage. SPYRAL Super Agent’s effect was activated declaring Traps. SPYRAL Super Agent was Special Summoned, and its effect destroyed Jacquez’s face-down Scapegoat. SPYRAL Quik-Fix’s in-Graveyard effect was used to have it Special Summon itself, with Richardson discarding SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue. SPYRAL Quik-Fix’s effect added SPYRAL GEAR – Drone and (Trickstar Lycoris burned for another 200). SPYRAL Master Plan and SPYRAL Double Helix were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Decode Talker! SPYRAL Master Plan’s effect was used to add SPYRAL Resort and SPYRAL Sleeper to hand (Trickstar Lycoris burned for another 400 points of damage). He then Set a Field Spell over his active Resort. SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue was banished to Special Summon SPYRAL GEAR – Drone from the Graveyard, then SPYRAL GEAR – Drone and SPYRAL Quik-Fix were used to Xyz Summon Sylvan Princessprite! Its effect excavated SPYRAL Quik-Fix from the top of Richardson’s deck. SPYRAL Quik-Fix was activated by discarding SPYRAL GEAR – Drone and SPYRAL Quik-Fix was Special Summoned from the Graveyard! SPYRAL Super Agent and SPYRAL Princessprite were used to Link Summon Ib the World Chalice Priestess. PSY-Frame Driver and PSY-Framegear Gamma were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Proxy Dragon then it and Ib the World Chalice Priestess were sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior! Its effect was activated, sending SPYRAL Quik-Fix and Anti-Spell Fragrance to the Graveyard (SPYRAL Quik-Fix was banished instead), but Jacquez flipped up the second Anti-Spell Fragrance after the chain resolved, continuing the lockdown! Richardson pressed on by activating SPYRAL GEAR – Drone from the Graveyard, banishing it and resort to add SPYRAL Super Agent to his hand. He went into the Battle Phase and Decode Talker attacked into Trickstar Lycoris, and Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior attacked directly for 2500. Richardson then Set a card to the back row and passed, but Jacquez activated Scapegoat in the End Phase (leaving the Monster Zone Richardson’s Decode Talker was pointing to empty).
Jacquez drew Trickstar Reincarnation for turn. He used 2 Sheep Tokens to Link Summon Missus Radiant, then used another Token for Link Spider, then used both Link Monsters for his own copy of Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior. He Set Trickstar Reincarnation, then activated Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior, sending the face-down Trickstar Reincarnation and Richardson’s Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior to the Graveyard. He then activated Trickstar Reincarnation in the Graveyard, Special Summoning Trickstar Lycoris to the center Main Monster Zone. Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior attacked over Decode Talker and Trickstar Lycoris attacked directly, leaving Richardson at 2600 LP. In Main Phase 2, Jacquez sent Ningirsu and Trickstar Lycoris to the Graveyard to Link Summon Topologic Bomber Dragon to the left Extra Monster Zone and passed.
Richardson flipped the Set SPYRAL Resort and used its effect to add SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort from his Deck to his hand. He then flipped the Set SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red to Special Summon SPYRAL Double Helix from the Graveyard. SPYRAL Super Agent’s effect was activated declaring Monster, but Trickstar Light Stage was revealed, keeping SPYRAL Super Agent in hand. SPYRAL Double Helix’s effect was used next to declare Spells, and SPYRAL Super Agent was Special Summoned from the Deck and its effect was used to destroy Jacquez’s Anti-Spell Fragrance. SPYRAL Sleeper was Special Summoned by banishing 3 SPYRAL cards, and it was equipped with SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort from the hand. SPYRAL Sleeper’s effect targeted itself, Jacquez’s Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior and the last Sheep Token, and all of Richardson’s monsters attacked directly to end the match!
