Welcome to the final round of Swiss! This Match is for national pride, with two Duelists who traveled from other countries to compete! We’ve got Jeffrey Louang from San Diego, California, packing a True Draco Deck. Louang traveled here with several other American players including Barrett Keys and Johnny Site Li, but Louang is outplacing them all with his True Draco Deck. His opponent is Paulo Robert Goncalves da Silva, from Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil! Goncalves is using Pendulum Magicians today. Each of these Duelists has one loss so far, so a win here is required if they want to guarantee a spot in the Top 16. It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Goncalves won the roll and chose  to play first, and began with Pot of Desires! He Normal Summoned Performapal Skullcrobat Joker to search for Black Fang Magician. He played Star Pendulumgraph, Wisdom-Eye Magician, and Oafdragon Magician in his back row. With Wisdom-Eye and Star Pendulumgraph, he got Double Iris Magician on the field and Harmonizing Magician in his hand. He Pendulum Summoned Wisdom-Eye from the Extra Deck, along with Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, Purple Poison Magician, and Harmonizing Magician from his hand! Harmonizing Special Summoned another Purple Poison, then Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer destroyed Double Iris to put Skullcrobat Joker in his hand. Double Iris’s effect let him search for Time Pendulumgraph. He used Wisdom-Eye and Harmonizing for PSY-Framelord Omega, and banished it along with Cosmic Cyclone from Louang’s hand. He stacked his pair of Purple Poisons for Timestar Magician! He used it to search out Astrograph Sorcerer. He put Black Fang in his Pendulum Zone, then used Oafdragon to get Wisdom-Eye to his hand. He Set one to his back row to finish his impressive turn!

Louang started with True Draco Apocalypse, True Draco Heritage, Disciples of the True Dracophoenix, Terraforming, and Card of Demise. He Set Heritage, then Apocalypse. Goncalves flipped Time Pendulumgraph, targeting his Black Fang, and used Timestar to protect it (by sending a Double Iris to the Graveyard). That allowed Time Pendulumgraph to send both Apocalypse and Heritage to the Graveyard! Louang triggered the effects of both cards, but couldn’t use Apocalypse to due Time Pendulumgraph’s protection effect. Heritage destroyed Star Pendulumgraph. Louang continued with Terraforming for Dragonic Diagram. He Set Disciples, then activated Diagram to destroy Disciples. He added True Draco Heritage to his hand, and destroyed Time Pendulumgraph with Disciples. He activated Heritage to draw Cosmic Cyclone and Spellbook of Knowledge. He Set everything and used Card of Demise to draw Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King, Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster, and Skill Drain! He used Heritage to Tribute Summon Majesty Maiden, sending her to destroy Timestar in battle (thanks to the boost from Diagram). Louang Set Skill Drain, and had to discard Master Peace in the End Phase.

Goncalves returned Omega to the field. He stacked Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer with Skullcrobat Joker for Number 103: Ragnazero! He detached Joker for Ragnazero’s effect, and Louang flipped Skill Drain! Goncalves used Oafdragon to get Double Iris in his hand. He used Black Fang’s Pendulum Effect, and Louang flipped Cosmic Cyclone to banish Black Fang first. Goncalves played Wisdom-Eye, using its effect to put another Black Fang on the field! He then used Astrograph Sorcerer in his hand! He Special Summoned it and got another Wisdom-Eye to his hand. The new Black Fang halved the ATK of Majesty Maiden and destroyed itself, and Special Summoned Purple Poison from the Graveyard. He played Wisdom-Eye in his back row, and Pendulum Summoned two Double Iris from his hand! Louang couldn’t survive all of Goncalves’s monsters!

Goncalves needed only two turns! That’s the power of Pendulum Magicians! Louang chose to play first for the next Duel.

Duel 2

Louang began with Master Peace, Cosmic Cyclone, Dimensional Barrier, True Draco Apocalypse, and Unending Nightmare. He Set all his Spell & Trap Cards. “Yes! The last one not being Demise makes me happy,” Goncalves laughed.

Goncalves began with Zaphion, the Timelord! Louang knew he was going to lose everything, so he made as much use of his cards as possible. He flipped Apocalypse, and Tributed it and Unending Nightmare for Master Peace. When Zaphion attacked, Louang flipped Dimensional Barrier declaring Pendulums.. Zaphion’s effect shuffled Cosmic Cyclone back in the Deck, and Goncalves passed.

Louang had nothing but Master Peace… but he drew Spellbook Magician of Prophecy! He played it to get Spellbook of Secrets, and that to get Spellbook of Knowledge. He activated that, sending Spellbook Magician to the Graveyard to draw Dragonic Diagram and True King’s Return! He activated Diagram and Set Return. Diagram destroyed Return to add Heritage to his hand, and he activated it to draw Card of Demise! He drew Heritage, Diagram, and Apocalypse! He played the new Diagram, which let him destroy Heritage to get Majesty Maiden. He played his second Heritage and Tributed it for Majesty Maiden. He Set Apocalypse and passed his turn.

Zaphion shuffled itself back into the Deck, and Louang used Majesty Maiden to search for another Master Peace. Goncalves played Star Pendulumgraph, Wisdom-Eye Magician, and and Double Iris Magician in his back row. Wisdom-Eye activated, and Louang used Master Peace to destroy Star Pendulumgraph. Goncalves got Purple Poison Magician to the field, then Pendulum Summoned Wisdom-Eye from the Extra Deck, along with the rest of his hand: a Black Fang Magician and two more Purple Poisons! He stacked Wisdom-Eye with Black Fang for Number 103: Ragnazero, and Louang flipped True Draco Apocalypse. He Tributed Majesty Maiden and Apocalypse for Master Peace, and used the effect of Apocalypse to destroy a Purple Poison. Goncalves responded with Ragnazero to destroy the first Master Peace, letting him draw a card. Finally, the destroyed Purple Poison destroyed Diagram. Louang was left with nothing but the Master Peace he’d just Summoned. Goncalves used the effect of Double Iris on Purple Poison, and searched out Star Pendulumgraph, which he activated. He Normal Summoned Skullcrobat Joker to get Black Fang in his hand. He played it in his back row, and used it to halve the ATK of Master Peace! He Special Summoned another Black Fang from the Graveyard, and used his Pendulumgraph to get his third Black Fang to his hand. Ragnazero attacked Master Peace, and Louang used its effect to destroy Skullcrobat Joker. Ragnazero won the battle, and Black Fang and Purple Poison attacked directly. Louang had no cards and 4175 Life Points.

Louang drew Disciples of the True Dracophoenix! He returned True King’s Return, True Draco Apocalypse, and Majesty Maiden to the Deck… and he drew True Draco Apocalypse. He Set it.

Goncalves played Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, and attacked with it. Louang flipped Apoc, destroying Disciples to halve the ATK of Goncalves’s monsters. The destroyed Disciples took out Star Pendulumgraph. Goncalves continued to attack with everything, and used the Pendulum Effect of Purple Poison to win despite his weakened monsters!
