Top 32 Feature Match: Brenden Beckmann vs. Faisal Khan

Brenden Beckmann from Denver, Colorado is Dueling against Faisal Khan from Chicago, Illinois in a Top 32 Feature Match that pits SPYRALs against SPYRALs! Both Beckmann and Khan finished the Swiss Rounds with a 9-2 record, and now one of them will advance to the Top 16 while the other one is eliminated. It’s time to Duel!

 

Duel One

Beckmann opened up Duel 1 with Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries, Double Summon, SPYRAL Super AgentSPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort, and Dragon Ravine.

 

 

He activated the effect of the Super Agent in his hand guessing that there was a monster on top of Khan’s Deck, but revealed Terraforming, leaving the Super Agent in his hand. He Normal Summoned it instead and then activated Double Summon. He used his extra Normal Summon to get SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort on the field, prompting Khan to discard Maxx “C”. Next, Beckmann Link Summoned SPYRAL Double Helix, allowing Khan to draw a card. He used Double Helix’s effect calling Monsters, but revealed Machine Duplication from the top of Khan’s Deck. He ended his turn.

 

Khan activated Terraforming to add SPYRAL Resort to his hand and then Normal Summoned SPYRAL GEAR – Drone. He used its effect to rearrange the top 3 cards of Beckmann’s Deck and then Special Summoned Super Agent from his hand by revealing Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from the top of Beckmann’s Deck. Next, Beckmann pitched Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries from his hand to banish all copies of Double Helix from Khan’s Extra Deck. Khan activated SPYRAL Resort next, and used its effect to add SPYRAL Quik-Fix to his hand. He equipped his Super Agent with Last Resort and attacked Double Helix to destroy it. He attacked directly with Drone and then returned Maxx “C” to his Deck in the End Phase with SPYRAL Resort.

 

Beckmann drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, adding it to his hand of Dragon Ravine. He ended his turn without making a play.

 

Khan Normal Summoned Quik-Fix and used its effect to add SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red to his hand. Next, he activated Machine Duplication, but Beckmann discarded Ash Blossom from his hand to negate it. Khan used the effect of his Resort to add SPYRAL Master Plan to his hand and then combined Drone with Quik-Fix to Xyz Summon Sylvan Princessprite. He used its effect to excavate SPYRAL GEAR – Utility Wire and add it to his hand. Next, he discarded Master Plan from his hand to Special Summon Quik-Fix from his Graveyard and used Quik-Fix’s effect to add Drone from his Deck to his hand. He activated Big Red to Special Summon Master Plan from his Graveyard, and Beckmann conceded, knowing the Duel was over!

 

 

Beckmann strips Khan of his Double Helixes, but Khan manages to fight through the Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries to take the victory!

 

Duel Two

Beckmann opened up Duel 2 with SPYRAL Sleeper, One for One, SPYRAL GEAR – Utility Wire, SPYRAL Super Agent, and SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort. He activated One for One by sending Sleeper to his Graveyard but lost out to Khan’s Ash Blossom. Next, Beckmann tried to Special Summon Super Agent from his hand declaring “Monster”, but revealed the Spell Card Machine Duplication from the top of Khan’s Deck. He Normal Summoned Super Agent and Set his Utility Wire before passing.

 

Khan activated Raigeki to destroy the Super Agent and then Normal Summoned Drone and used its effect to rearrange the top 3 cards of Beckmann’s Deck.

 

 

Next, he activated Machine Duplication and Beckmann conceded.

 

 

Faisal Khan takes a lightning fast 2-0 victory to advance to the Top 16 with SPYRALs!
