Top 4 Feature Match: Hani Yasser Jawhari vs. Mohammed Faisal Khan

We’re now in Top 4, and it’s a SPYRAL mirror match! Hani Yasser Jawhari is here from Louisiana and Mohammed Faisal Khan is here from Chicago. Besides playing for a spot in the Finals, there’s a little bit more on the line because Khan’s brother, Mohammed Imran Khan was placed in the opposite bracket and is in the other Top 4 match. If the brothers win, it will be the first time brothers will face each other in the finals of a YCS! Which of these Duelists will punch their ticket to the Finals and guarantee themselves a copy of the YCS Prize Card Number 89: Diabolosis the Mind Hacker?  We’re about to find out! It’s time to Duel!

 

Duel 1

Khan activated Terraforming to get SPYRAL Resort but Jawhari activated Droll & Lock Bird to stop any further searching this turn. He passed making no further plays.

Jawhari started off with SPYRAL Resort, Terraforming, Interrupted Kaiju Slumber, and SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red. He activated SPYRAL Resort and tried to use the effect but Khan activated Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy the Field Spell! Jawhari followed-up with Terraforming for SPYRAL Resort and it was activated, and its effect was used to add SPYRAL Quik-Fix from Deck to hand. Quik-Fix was Normal Summoned and its effect was used to add SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort from Deck to hand. He then activated Interrupted Kaiju Slumber, but Khan chained Maxx “C”! All monsters were destroyed, Jawhari Special Summoned Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju to his own field and Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju to Khan’s field while Khan drew a card. Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju attacked Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju and Khan took 800 damage going to 7200 LP. In the End Phase, Jawhari put the fallen Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju from the Graveyard back into the deck with SPYRAL Resort, a solid play with Interrupted Kaiju Slumber in the Graveyard.

Khan drew to 5 cards in hand. He activated SPYRAL Resort, using its effect to add SPYRAL Super Agent from Deck to hand. He activated the effect of SPYRAL Super Agent calling Spells, but Jawhari revealed his own copy of SPYRAL Super Agent off the top of the Deck, keeping Khan’s SPYRAL Super Agent in his hand. Khan Normal Summoned SPYRAL Quik-Fix, using its effect to add SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red to his hand. But, considering his plays, he decided to concede this game and go to game 2.

 

 

Duel 2

Khan elected to go first. He started with Terraforming to add SPYRAL Resort from Deck to hand. He activated it and used the effect to add SPYRAL GEAR – Drone from Deck to hand. Another Terraforming came down to add a second SPYRAL Resort to hand, that one was activated and used to add SPYRAL Super Agent to hand. SPYRAL GEAR – Drone was Normal Summoned and the effect was used to rearrange the top 3 cards of Jawhari’s Deck. Next, he used SPYRAL Super Agent’s effect, declaring Spells and revealing Double Summon off the top of Jawhari’s Deck. He sent both monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix! Khan tried to use the effect but Jawhari chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate that effect. He Set a card to the back and passed.

Jawhari drew the Double Summon. He activated One for One, discarding SPYRAL Sleeper to Special Summon SPYRAL Quik-Fix! SPYRAL Quik-Fix’s effect activated, adding SPYRAL GEAR – Drone to hand which was Normal Summoned and whose effect let Jawhari look at Khan’s top 3 cards: 2 SPYRAL Quik-Fix’s and a SPYRAL Resort. He decided to put the 2 SPYRAL Quik-Fix’s on top and SPYRAL Resort as the third card. He then sent his two monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon his own SPYRAL Double Helix! He used the effect, calling Monster, to add SPYRAL Sleeper from Graveyard to hand. Then, he used SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red to Special Summon SPYRAL GEAR – Drone, then used SPYRAL Quik-Fix’s effect, discarding Terraforming to Special Summon it. He used SPYRAL GEAR – Drone, SPYRAL Quik-Fix and SPYRAL Double Helix to Link Summon Borreload Dragon! On the Summon, Khan activated Artifact Lancea to prevent any further banishing this turn. Borreload Dragon attacked into SPYRAL Double Helix and its effect was used to steal SPYRAL Double Helix! SPYRAL Double Helix attacked directly. Jawhari Set Double Summon and in the End Phase, Khan flipped-up SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue and used it to add SPYRAL Super Agent back to hand.

 

 

Khan used SPYRAL Resort to add SPYRAL GEAR – Drone to hand, and it was Normal Summoned and Khan rearranged the top 3 cards. Khan activated SPYRAL Super Agent and called Monster, revealing Jawhari’s Maxx “C”! Khan sent SPYRAL Super Agent and SPYRAL GEAR – Drone to the Graveyard to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix! He then used SPYRAL Double Helix’s effect, calling Monster, to Special Summon SPYRAL Quik-Fix from the Deck. Its effect was used to add SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red from Deck to hand. SPYRAL Quik-Fix and SPYRAL Double Helix were used to Link Summon another SPYRAL Double Helix, and then SPYRAL Quik-Fix was Special Summoned from the Graveyard by discarding another SPYRAL Quik-Fix from hand! The Summoned SPYRAL Quik-Fix used its effect to add SPYRAL GEAR – Drone from Deck to hand. The discarded SPYRAL Quik-Fix was Special Summoned by discarding SPYRAL GEAR – Drone, and that SPYRAL Quik-Fix added SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort from Deck to hand. The 2 SPYRAL Quik-Fixes were used to Xyz Summon Sylvan Princessprite! Its effect was used, excavating SPYRAL Master Plan which was sent to the Graveyard. SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red came down next, which Special Summoned SPYRAL Master Plan from the Graveyard! Sylvan Princessprite and SPYRAL Master Plan were used to Link Summon Proxy Dragon! SPYRAL Master Plan’s effect activated in the Graveyard, adding SPYRAL Resort and SPYRAL Sleeper from Deck to hand. He activated SPYRAL Resort, adding SPYRAL Super Agent from Deck to hand. Next, SPYRAL Quik-Fix was activated, discarding SPYRAL Super Agent. Then the second one was activated, but that was enough to force a concession and we’re going into a decisive game 3!

 

 

Duel 3

Jawhari elected to go first. He started with a hand of SPYRAL Super Agent, SPYRAL Resort, Foolish Burial, Double Summon and D.D. Crow. He activated SPYRAL Resort, using its effect to add SPYRAL Quik-Fix. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect to add SPYRAL GEAR – Drone from Deck to hand. Double Summon came down next, and Jawhari Normal Summoned SPYRAL GEAR – Drone which let him rearrange the top 3, making them SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red, Double Summon and SPYRAL Sleeper. After the Chain resolved, Khan activated Maxx “C”! This forced Jawhari to think about whether he wanted to continue the sequence. He elected to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix to the Left Extra Monster Zone and Khan drew a card for Maxx “C”. He used the effect of SPYRAL Double Helix but Khan chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to stop it. In the End Phase, he used SPYRAL Resort to put the SPYRAL GEAR – Drone in his Graveyard back into the Deck.

 

 

Khan started off by Normal Summoning SPYRAL Quik-Fix, using its effect to add SPYRAL GEAR – Drone from Deck to hand. Next, Double Summon was activated, letting Khan Normal Summon SPYRAL GEAR – Drone, whose effect let Khan rearrange the top 3 cards of Jawhari’s Deck. Both monsters were used to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix! Its effect was activated, calling Spells and revealing Terraforming from the top of Jawhari’s Deck to Special Summon SPYRAL Master Plan from the Deck! SPYRAL Double Helix and SPYRAL Master Plan were used to Link Summon another SPYRAL Double Helix! Master Plan’s effect added SPYRAL Super Agent and SPYRAL Resort from Deck to hand. He then activated SPYRAL Super Agent from hand, declaring Spells again, Special Summoning SPYRAL Super Agent from hand. SPYRAL Super Agent’s effect destroyed Jawhari’s SPYRAL Resort. Khan then played his own SPYRAL Resort then asked Jawhari “you’re at 8000?”, clearly thinking about the possibility of ending the Duel this turn. Khan used SPYRAL Quik-Fix’s effect from the Graveyard, discarding SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort to Special Summon SPYRAL Quik-Fix. Its effect was activated, adding SPYRAL GEAR – Drone from Deck to hand. SPYRAL Resort’s effect was used to add SPYRAL Sleeper from Deck to hand, then SPYRAL Quik-Fix and SPYRAL Double Helix were used to Link Summon Decode Talker, then SPYRAL Sleeper was Special Summoned by banishing 3 SPYRAL cards, then SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red was activated targeting SPYRAL Double Helix but Jawhari chained D.D. Crow to banish SPYRAL Double Helix from the Graveyard! SPYRAL Sleeper attacked into SPYRAL Double Helix then Decode Talker and SPYRAL Super Agent attacked directly, leaving Jawhari at 2400 LP. Khan sent SPYRAL GEAR – Drone back to the Deck in the End Phase for SPYRAL Resort.

Jawhari drew Terraforming which he activated to add SPYRAL Resort. Khan activated Droll & Lock Bird right after. Jawhari activated SPYRAL Resort and began counting cards. He then activated SPYRAL Super Agent, blind calling Spells but revealing Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. SPYRAL Super Agent was then Normal Summoned. SPYRAL Quik-Fix was Special Summoned discarding Foolish Burial, then both monsters were used to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix. Its effect was used, calling Monsters, letting Jawhari Special Summon SPYRAL GEAR – Drone. SPYRAL GEAR – Drone’s effect was used, letting him rearrange the top 3 cards. He then used SPYRAL GEAR – Drone’s effect to boost SPYRAL Super Agent to 3900 ATK, and SPYRAL Super Agent attacked and destroyed SPYRAL Sleeper. SPYRAL Sleeper’s effect activated, destroying all other cards Khan controlled and Special Summoning a SPYRAL Super Agent from Deck! SPYRAL Super Agent’s effect destroyed Jawhari’s SPYRAL Resort. Jawhari passed with just a SPYRAL Double Helix on his field.

Khan drew and Normal Summoned SPYRAL GEAR – Drone, whose effect let him rearrange the top 3 cards of Jawhari’s Deck, then Khan sent SPYRAL GEAR – Drone and SPYRAL Super Agent to the Graveyard to Link Summon SPYRAL Double Helix and he used its effect, called Monsters and revealed Droll & Lock Bird, which let him add SPYRAL Sleeper from Graveyard to hand. That was enough damage to end the Match!

 

 

Khan moves on to the finals! Khan’s brother also won his Top 4 match, leading to a brother vs. brother Finals for the first time in YCS history!
