Only four Duelists remain! We have Jose Osores, all the way from Peru! He’s the last Trickstar Duelist remaining in the tournament. His opponent is a SPYRAL Duelist, Valente Alonso Llerenas, from right here in San Diego. Only one Duelist can move on from here to the grand finals – it’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Llerenas won the dice roll and played first… and passed his turn.

Osores had a hand of Trickstar Light Stage, Trickstar Candina, Droll & Lock Bird, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, and Trickstar Lycoris. He drew a second Droll & Lock Bird. He started off with Candina, and Llerenas used PSY-Framegear Gamma. Osores used Lycoris’s effect to bounce Candina back to his hand and Special Summon Lycoris. Llerenas Special Summoned Gamma and PSY-Frame Driver in Defense Position. Candina’s effect was negated, though the card wasn’t destroyed since it had been put in the hand. Osores continued by playing Light Stage, using it to put another Lycoris in his hand. He attacked Gamma, and Driver was banished in the End Phase.

Llerenas used SPYRAL Super Agent in his hand, declaring monster, but Osores flipped over Solemn Strike on top of his Deck. Llerenas simply Normal Summoned the Super Agent and destroyed Lycoris in battle.

Osores played Candina again, and put Trickstar Reincarnation in his hand. He bounced Candina back to Special Summon Lycoris in Defense Position, then Set Strike and Reincarnation.

Osores drew another Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He used Light Stage to lock down one of Llerenas’s back row cards, then Normal Summoned Candina. He added Trickstar Lilybell to his hand, and Special Summoned it with its effect. Lilybell attacked directly, dealing 1000 total damage thanks to Light Stage, and put Lycoris back in Osores’s hand. Osores bounced Candina to the hand to Special Summon the same Lycoris in Defense Position. In the End Phase, LLerenas sent Double Summon to the Graveyard due to Light Stage.

Osores drew his third copy of Droll & Lock Bird. He used Light Stage on Llerenas’s remaining back row card. He Normal Summoned Ghost Ogre and Synchro Summoned Coral Dragon, and it destroyed Super Agent in battle. In Main Phase 2, he discarded a Droll with Coral’s effect, destroying Llerenas’s Set Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.  In the End Phase, Llerenas sent another Double Summon to the Graveyard because of Light Stage.

Osores drew Blackwing – Gofu the Vague Shadow. He played Candina, Llerenas used Ash Blossom, and Osores flipped Solemn Strike. Candina’s effect put Lycoris in his hand. He attacked directly with Coral and Candina, then Special Summoned Lycoris to end the first Duel!

Duel 2

Llerenas chose to play first this time. He Set one to his back row.

Osores had 2 Light Stage, Pot of Desires, Evenly Matched, Maxx “C”, and Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He played Light Stage and got Candina to his hand, then used Light Stage’s effect on Llerenas’s Set card. Osores played Candina, Llerenas used PSY-Framegear Gamma, and Osores used Maxx “C” to draw Dark Hole. He played Pot of Desires, and drew both Droll & Lock Bird and Trickstar Reincarnation! He played Dark Hole, Set Reincarnation and Evenly Matched, and in the End Phase Llerenas lost his Set SPYRAL GEAR – Utility Wire.

Llerenas played SPYRAL Resort, and added SPYRAL Quik-Fix to his hand. Osores responded with Droll & Lock Bird, Llerenas used PSY-Framegear Gamma, and Osores used Trickstar Reincarnation. The Chain resolved backwards – Reincarnation banished Llerenas’s hand and let him draw three new cards. Gamma was banished, and failed to resolve, and Droll resolved by locking down the rest of Llerenas’s searches for the turn. Llerenas Set one card in his back row. Resort shuffled Driver back into the Deck.

Osores drew another Candina. He had Light Stage freeze Llerenas’s Set card, then had Candina search for Lycoris. Candina attacked directly, then Osores bounced Candina to the hand to Special Summon Lycoris. Lycoris attacked directly as well, leaving Llerenas with 4200 Life Points. In the End Phase, Llerenas was forced to flip up SPYRAL MISSION – Rescue.

Llerenas used SPYRAL Resort, and Osores used Ghost Ogre to destroy it. Llerenas continued with Reinforcement of the Army, getting SPYRAL Super Agent to his hand. He played another Resort, this time adding SPYRAL GEAR – Drone to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, using its effect to reorder Osores’s next three cards. He used Super Agent next, revealing Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring on top of Osores’s Deck to Special Summon the Agent. Super Agent destroyed Evenly Matched. Super Agent destroyed Lycoris in battle, and Osores used Reincarnation’s effect in the Graveyard to bring Lycoris back to the field. The Life Points were 3000 to 7700, with Osores leading. Llerenas Link Summoned SPYRAL Double Helix, using its effect to Special Summon SPYRAL Master Plan. He used Master Plan and Double Helix to Link Summon Decode Talker, and used Master Plan’s effect to put SPYRAL Sleeper and SPYRAL Resort in his hand. He played the new Resort to get SPYRAL GEAR – Last Resort. Due to Lycoris and Light Stage, he was now down to 2000. He Special Summoned Sleeper and equipped it with Last Resort, using it to wipe out Lycoris and Light Stage, and survived its own destruction thanks to Last Resort. In the End Phase, he put PSY-Framegear Gamma back into his Deck due to Resort.

Osores drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He played Light Stage, and Sleeper destroyed it. Osores played Candina, adding Lilybell to his hand. He Special Summoned Lilybell, and Llerenas used Rescue to get Quik-Fix in his hand. Lilybell attacked directly, dropping Llerenas to 1200 Life Points. Lilybell put Lycoris back in his hand, and he Special Summoned it by bouncing Lilybell to the hand. He passed, hoping to survive another turn and win with Lilybell.

Llerenas took 200 damage from drawing a card. He used Sleeper to destroy Osores’s monsters, then played Super Agent and SPYRAL GEAR – Big Red to put down enough damage to end the Duel!

Duel 3

Osores began with a hand of Lycoris, Candina, Lilybell, Light Stage, and Solemn Strike. He played Candina, getting Trickstar Reincarnation. He Set his Trap Cards, then bounced Candina back to play Lycoris.

Llerenas entered his Battle Phase, and Osores knew he was about to get hit by Evenly Matched. He used Trickstar Reincarnation to banish Llerenas’s hand, hitting Evenly Matched, Reinforcement of the Army, Super Agent, Terraforming, SPYRAL Resort, and One for One. In Main Phase 2, Llerenas used Super Agent’s effect in his hand, calling monster, and revealed Droll & Lock Bird on top of Osores’s Deck. He Special Summoned Super Agent, and Osores destroyed it with Solemn Strike.

Osores drew Droll & Lock Bird. He played Candina, adding another Trickstar Reincarnation to his hand. He played Light Stage, and its effect was negated by Ash Blossom. He attacked directly with both monsters, dropping Llerenas to 2800 Life Points with battle damage and Light Stage’s effect. He Set Reincarnation.

Llerenas drew a card and took 400 total damage. Llerenas went to the Battle Phase, Osores flipped Trickstar Reincarnation, and Llerenas negated it with Ash Blossom. He then used Evenly Matched, banishing everything but Lycoris. Llerenas Set a monster and a back row card.

Osores drew Light Stage! He played it to get another Lycoris. He used Light Stage on Llerenas’s back row card, then Normal Summoned Lilybell. He Link Summoned Proxy Dragon, and the round timer ended. He sent Proxy to destroy Llerenas’s Set Last Resort. Then, Osores banished Reincarnation to Special Summon Lilybell. It attacked directly, and when it activated its effect, Llerenas used PSY-Framegear Gamma! Lilybell was negated and destroyed. However, that allowed Osores to banish his other Reincarnation and attack with Lilybell again! Llerenas dropped to just 400 Life Points! He got Lycoris into his hand with Lilybell’s effect, and Special Summoned it. Lycoris attacked and destroyed Gamma. In the End Phase, Llerenas had to send Utility Wire to the Graveyard. When Llerenas drew his card, Lycoris and Light Stage dealt the last 400 damage to win the Match!
