Round 12 Feature Match: Ed Acepcion vs. Peter Duong

February 25th, 2018

I hope you’re not sick of seeing Ed Acepcion’s Magical Musketeers yet, because he’s back for yet another Feature Match! We wanted to cover Peter Duong’s Thunder Buddies Deck (which we saw yesterday) again, and it just so happened that he’s paired against Acepcion. With two of the most surprising rogue Decks in the tournament facing off, we just had to give them a Feature Match!

Duel 1

Duong won the die roll and played first. He had two copies of Effect Veiler, Inspector Boarder, Dark Hole, and Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries. He Normal Summoned Inspector Boarder.

Acepcion played Magical Musketeer Kidbrave. He entered the Battle Phase and used Magical Musket – Desperado to destroy Inspector Boarder. Kidbrave’s effect discarded another Kidbrave to draw two cards. Duong wasn’t able to use Effect Veiler since Acepcion had entered the Battle Phase! Kidbrave attacked directly.

Duong drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He Set Ghost Reaper, a mostly useless card in this matchup.

Acepcion played Magical Musketeer Doc and attacked with it, failing to destroy Ghost Reaper. He played Desperado behind Kidbrave, destroying Ghost Reaper. Kidbrave’s effect discarded Magical Musket – Fiendish Deal to draw two cards, and Kidbrave attacked directly.

Duong drew Thunder King Rai-Oh. He played Dark Hole and sent Rai-Oh to attack directly.

Acepcion played Pot of Desires. He Set a monster.

Duong drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Rai-Oh destroyed Acepcion’s Set Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit.

Acepcion Set a monster.

Duong drew Raigeki. He attacked with Rai-Oh, but couldn’t beat Magical Musketeer Caspar’s 2000 DEF. He destroyed it with Raigeki in Main Phase 2 and Set an Effect Veiler.

Acepcion played Magical Musketeer Starfire. He entered the Battle Phase and sent Starfire to attack Rai-Oh, then used Magical Musket – Cross-Domination to win the battle. Starfire’s effect brought Caspar to the field in Defense Position.

Duong drew a new Thunder King Rai-Oh. He Flip Summoned Effect Veiler, and Normal Summoned his second Veiler. He Link Summoned Akashic Magician and activated its effect, but Acepcion had Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy it!

Acepcion sent Caspar and Starfire to attack directly, leaving Duong with just 500 Life Points.

Duong drew Scapegoat. He Normal Summoned Rai-Oh and attacked, and Acepcion had Cross-Domination to win the battle and the Duel!

Duel 2

Duong chose to play second this time. Acepcion played Kidbrave.

Duong had Scapegoat; Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju; Thunder King Rai-Oh; Evenly Matched; Honest; and Juragedo. He started with Rai-Oh, then Tributed Kidbrave to play Gameciel on Acepcion’s side. He attacked with Rai-Oh and used Honest to destroy Gameciel. He Set Scapegoat to finish.

Acepcion played Starfire and Raigeki, and Special Summoned Caspar. Duong flipped Scapegoat in the End Phase, and Acepcion used Magical Musket – Last Stand to negate it! Caspar’s effect put Fiendish Deal in his hand.

Duong drew Honest. He passed.

Acepcion played Doc and switched Caspar to Attack Position. All three monsters attacked, leaving Duong with 1600 Life Points. Duong played Evenly Matched, and Acepcion played Last Stand to negate it, then used Caspar to get Cross-Domination.

Duong drew Denko Sekka, and Acepcion played Fiendish Deal behind Doc, allowing Doc’s effect to put Last Stand in his hand! “OK, gimme a second…” Duong said, needing a moment to ponder the situation. “No worries. I’m the threat. You have to answer me,” Acepcion said, ominously. Duong played Denko Sekka and moved to the Battle Phase. He used Juragedo from his hand, and Acepcion responded with Desperado to destroy Denko Sekka! Duong had no way to survive next turn!

Ed Acepcion wins, with Magical Musketeers!
