His opponent, Andrew Amaro-Olivo, is from right here in Sacramento and he’s got Pendulum Magicians with him. Who will keep their record at X-1?  Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Amaro-Olivo won the roll and elected to go first. He started with Oafdragon Magician and Chronograph Sorcerer in the Pendulum Zones and he activated Wavering Eyes to destroy both cards to burn Zhang for 500 and add Astrograph Sorcerer from Deck to hand. He then used Astrograph Sorcerer to Special Summon it and add Chronograph Sorcerer from Deck to hand. He activated Chronograph Sorcerer and used the effect to Special Summon Timegazer Magician from the Deck. Next, he used the two monsters to Link Summon Heavymetalfoes Electrumite. He used the effect to send Supreme King Gate Zero from the Deck to the Extra Deck. Next, Zhang put Mythical Beast Master Cerberus in the Pendulum Zone and then used Heavymetalfoes Electrumite’s effect to destroy Master Cerberus to add Astrograph Sorcerer and it was Special Summoned adding another Chronograph Sorcerer and draw a card with Heavymetalfoes Electrumite’s effect. Next, Oafdragon Magician and Chronograph Sorcerer were placed in the Pendulum Zones and he proceeded to Pendulum Summon Supreme King Gate Zero and Chronograph Sorcerer from the Extra Deck. He used both Sorcerers to Xyz Summon Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon and it was used along with Heavymetalfoes Electrumite to Link Summon Zefra Metaltron. Absolute Dragon’s effect Special Summoned Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon. He Set one card to the back row and passed.

Zhang drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for turn, adding to his hand of Gold Gadget, Union Hangar, A-Assault Core, B-Buster Drake and Dimensional Barrier. He activated Union Hangar and added C-Crush Wyvern from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned C-Crush Wyvern and used the effect of Union Hangar to equip B-Buster Drake to C-Crush Wyvern. He went into the Battle Phase and straight to Main Phase 2 where he used C-Crush Wyvern to Link Summon Clara & Rushka, the Ventriloduo. Amaro-Olivo used the effect of Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon to negate B-Buster Drake and Zhang used C’s effect to Special Summon A-Assault Core from his hand. Next, he used Clara & Rushka, the Ventriloduo and A-Assault Core to Link Summon Underclock Taker. He then banished the 3 Union Monsters from the Graveyard to Special Summon ABC-Dragon Buster from the Extra Deck! He used ABC’s effect to banish Amaro-Olivo’s Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon. He Set Barrier and passed.

In Amaro-Olivo’s Standby Phase, Zhang used ABC to banish his opponent’s Zefra Metaltron. He then used ABC’s other effect, Tributing it to Special Summon A-Assault Core, B-Buster Drake and C-Crush Wyvern from the Banished Zone. Union Hangar’s effect equipped A-Assault Core onto the C-Crush Wyvern. Still in the Standby Phase, Zhang activated Dimensional Barrier declaring Pendulums. Amaro-Olivo Normal Summoned Harmonizing Magician then used both Harmonizing Magician and Chronograph Sorcerer to Special Summon Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom. He then used Chronograph Sorcerer’s effect to put Timegazer Magician in the Pendulum Zone. He then used Oafdragon Magician’s effect to put Harmonizing Magician back into his hand. Then, Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom’s effect copied Heavymetalfoes Electrumite. The copied effect destroyed Oafdragon Magician and Chronograph Sorcerer returned from the Extra Deck back to his hand. Zhang used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate the copied draw effect. Amaro-Olivo used his Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom to attack A-Assault Core. He used A’s effect to add back B-Buster Drake and Amaro-Olivo decided to concede the Duel and go to the next one.

Duel 2

Amaro-Olivo elected to go first. He started with Mythical Beast Master Cerberus in the Pendulum Zone, followed by Duelist Alliance, adding Pendulum Call from his Deck to his hand. Next, he activated Mythical Beast Master Cerberus’s effect, adding Mythical Beast Jackal King from his Deck to his hand. After the Chain, he activated Astrograph Sorcerer, Special Summoning it and adding another Mythical Beast Master Cerberus from his Deck to his hand. Mythical Beast Jackal King was placed in the Pendulum Zone and its effect destroyed itself to Special Summon Mythical Beast Master Cerberus from the Extra Deck. Both it and Astrograph Sorcerer were used to Link Summon Heavymetalfoes Electrumite whose effect kicked Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm from the Deck to the Extra Deck. He next activated Pendulum Call, discarding Mythical Beast Master Cerberus to add Harmonizing Magician and Purple Poison Magician from his Deck to his hand. He activated both monsters as Pendulum Spells and Pendulum Summoned Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm and Mythical Beast Jackal King from the Extra Deck while also Special Summoning Black Fang Magician from his hand. Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm’s effect added Supreme King Gate Zero from his Deck to his hand. Heavymetalfoes Electrumite’s effect destroyed Black Fang Magician and added back Astrograph Sorcerer to his hand, whose effect let it Special Summon itself and add another Black Fang Magician to Amaro-Olivo’s hand. Next, Amaro-Olivo Set one card to the back row and passed.

Zhang drew Terraforming and activated it to add Union Hangar from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Dark Hole to clear the field. He then activated Union Hangar and added C-Crush Wyvern from his Deck to his hand. Zhang Normal Summoned Gold Gadget and used its effect to Special Summon Silver Gadget, whose effect Special Summoned C-Crush Wyvern. Union Hangar’s effect was activated but Amaro-Olivo Chained his Set Cosmic Cyclone to banish the Field Spell and prevent its effect from resolving. Zhang attacked with all 3 monsters to drop Amaro-Olivo down to 2600 LP. In Main Phase 2, Zhang used Gold Gadget and C-Crush Wyvern to Xyz Summon Tornado Dragon! He Set Torrential Tribute and passed.

In Amaro-Olivo’s Standby Phase, Zhang used Tornado Dragon to destroy Amaro-Olivo’s Harmonizing Magician. In the Main Phase, Amaro-Olivo Normal Summoned Purple Poison Magician and attacked into Tornado Dragon. Purple Poison Magician’s Pendulum Effect activated to boost the on-field Purple Poison Magician by 1200 points and destroy itself. The Monster Effect activated to destroy Silver Gadget and its effect Special Summoned Gold Gadget in Defense Position. In Main Phase 2, Amaro-Olivo activated Supreme King Gate Zero and Black Fang Magician in the Pendulum Zones. He Pendulum Summoned Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm from the Extra Deck. Amaro-Olivo activated Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm’s effect and Zhang Chained Torrential Tribute! Gold’s effect Special Summoned Silver Gadget from the Deck.

Zhang activated Terraforming and Amaro-Olivo extended the handshake!
