This Round 6 Feature Match showcases two California judges! Carlo Marzan, from Vacaville, is using an ABC Deck. He’s up against Peter Duong, from San Jose, using a Deck he affectionately calls Thunder Buddies – it uses Thunder King Rai-Oh and The Ascended of Thunder, as well as other controlling cards like Inspector Boarder to lock down the opponent. Marzan and Duong both judge events in this area, so they’re already familiar with each other – and they couldn’t be happier that their Feature Match put them together.

Duel 1

Duong chose to play second. Marzan began with a Set monster and four back row cards.

Duong had a hand of Evenly Matched, Raigeki, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, Effect Veiler, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Pot of Desires. Marzan flipped Anti-Spell Fragrance in the Standby Phase. Duong went into the Battle Phase, and activated Evenly Matched! Marzan banished everything but one of his back row cards! Desires came next, giving Duong a Thunder King Rai-Oh and another Evenly Matched. He played Rai-Oh, and lost it to Marzan’s Solemn Warning.

Marzan drew and played his only card – B-Buster Drake. He attacked directly.

Duong drew another Rai-Oh. He Normal Summoned it and destroyed Buster Drake in battle.

Marzan passed.

Duong drew Scapegoat. He attacked with Rai-Oh and Set Scapegoat.

Marzan drew to two cards in hand. He played Foolish Burial, and Duong negated it with Ash Blossom. Duong flipped Scapegoat in the End Phase.

Duong drew another Effect Veiler. He used two Sheep Tokens to Link Summon Missus Radiant, then used another token to play Link Spider. He went to the Battle Phase, and wiped out Marzan’s remaining Life Points! That first turn Evenly Matched made things unevenly matched!

Duel 2

Marzan played first again, starting off with Union Hangar to add B-Buster Drake to his hand. He Normal Summoned Gold Gadget and Special Summoned Buster Drake. He tried to use Union Hangar, but lost it to Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He Set two to his back row.

Duong had a hand of Eater of Millions, Honest, Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries, and Scapegoat; he drew Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju. He Set Scapegoat.

Marzan used Gold Gadget and Buster Drake to play Qliphort Genius, and Buster Drake put A-Assault Core in his hand. He activated Union Hangar and got C-Crush Wyvern, then used Union Hangar to equip it with a new Buster Drake. He used Crush Wyvern and Qliphort Genius to play Decode Talker, and Buster Drake’s effect added another Assault Core to his hand. Decode Talker attacked directly. Marzan Set a third back row card, and Duong flipped Scapegoat in the End Phase.

Duong drew Evenly Matched. He used two Sheep Tokens to play Missus Radiant, then the others for Linkuriboh and Link Spider. He used all three of his Link Monsters to play Borreload Dragon, and Marzan flipped Solemn Judgment. Duong passed his turn.

Marzan Normal Summoned Assault Core and used Union Hangar to equip it with Crush Wyvern from the Deck. On the resolution of that effect, Duong used Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries! He banished ABC-Dragon Buster from his Extra Deck, banishing all copies of Marzan’s boss monster! He attacked with Assault Core and Decode Talker, leaving Duong with just 1000 Life Points. Duong used Evenly Matched at the end of the Battle Phase, banishing everything but Decode Talker. Marzan Set a card in his back row.

Duong drew Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He banished five cards from his Extra Deck to Special Summon Eater of Millions, and had it banish Decode Talker. In the End Phase, Marzan flipped Set Rotation! He put Union Hangar on his side of the field, and gave Duong a useless Dragon Ravine.

Marzan flipped up Union Hangar and added Buster Drake to his hand. He Normal Summoned it, and Duong destroyed Union Hangar with Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit.

Duong drew his third Evenly Matched. He Normal Summoned Honest. Eater of Millions attacked and banished Buster Drake, and Honest attacked directly. He Set Evenly Matched and bounced Honest to his hand.

Marzan Set a monster.

Duong drew Interrupted Kaiju Slumber and played it, wiping out Marzan’s Set A-Assault Core and his own Eater of Millions. He Special Summoned Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju to Marzan’s side and Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju to his own side. He attacked with Jizukiru, then used Honest to dish out enough damage to win the Match!
