Randall Jordan is here from Raleigh, North Carolina and is currently 5-2 with Altergeists! We haven’t seen this strategy at all today, and Jordan is hanging in there! His opponent is Dominic Oletti from Indianapolis, Indiana. He’s running Trickstars and also has a 5-2 record. Getting a 3^rd loss would put Day 2 contention in jeopardy. Who gets to keep their Day 2 hopes alive?  Let’s find out! It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Oletti won the roll and elected to go first. He started off with a Normal Summoned Trickstar Lycoris. He Set one and passed.

Jordan drew Altergeist Silquitous to add to his hand of Heavy Storm Duster, Torrential Tribute, Altergeist Meluseek, Mirror Force and Solemn Warning. He Normal Summoned Altergeist Meluseek. Using its effect, Meluseek attacked directly and he used its effect to send Trickstar Lycoris to the Graveyard. He Set 4 cards to his back row and passed.

Oletti Normal Summoned another Trickstar Lycoris and attacked Meluseek but was met with a Mirror Force. He passed but his face-down Trickstar Reincarnation was blown away by Heavy Storm Duster.

Jordan drew Pot of Duality. He used Meluseek to Link Summon Linkuriboh, and Jordan used Meluseek’s effect to add Altergeist Marionetter from Deck to hand. He Normal Summoned it, and then used its effect but Oletti Chained Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy it. Jordan Set Altergeist Manifestation. Next, Jordan attacked directly with Linkuriboh. He passed there.

Oletti drew and used the in-Graveyard effect of Trickstar Reincarnation to Special Summon Trickstar Lycoris. In the Battle Phase, Trickstar Lycoris attacked but Linkuriboh was Tributed to negate the attack.

Jordan drew Effect Veiler. He Normal Summoned Altergeist Silquitous. He activated Altergeist Manifestation to Special Summon the Meluseek in the Graveyard and then Chained Altergeist Silquitous to bounce Manifestation and Lycoris. Altergeist Silquitous attacked directly. He then Set Altergeist Manifestation and passed.

Oletti Normal Summoned Trickstar Lycoris but Jordan negated the Summon with Solemn Warning. Jordan activated Altergeist Manifestation in the End Phase to Special Summon Altergeist Meluseek.

Oletti Link Summoned with Altergeist Meluseek and Altergeist Silquitous to Summon Altergeist Hexstia. Altergeist Manifestation was added back to hand, and Meluseek allowed Jordan to add another Altergeist to his hand. He picked Altergeist Marionetter. He Normal Summoned Altergeist Marionetter and used the effect to Set Altergeist Protocol directly from the Deck. Next, Monster Reborn came down to Special Summon Altergeist Marionetter from his Graveyard. He attacked with all 3 to leave Jordan at 100 LP. (Jordan mentioned afterwards that he should have Reborned Trickstar Lycoris so that Oletti would take 200 damage in his Draw Phase to end the game.)  In Main Phase 2, Altergeist Marionetter was activated to Special Summon Altergeist Meluseek from the Graveyard. He Set 3 to the back and passed.

Oletti Normal Summoned Trickstar Candina and used the effect but Jordan negated it with Effect Veiler. Oletti then activated Raigeki but Oletti negated it with Hexstia, sending Altergeist Marionetter to the Graveyard. Oletti attempted to attack with Trickstar Candina but Jordan used the in-Graveyard effect of Linkuriboh to Special Summon itself and Oletti conceded as we moved to Duel 2.

Duel 2

Oletti elected to go first. He started off with Terraforming to add Trickstar Light Stage from Deck to hand. Trickstar Light Stage was activated and Trickstar Lycoris was added from Deck to hand. Next, he Normal Summoned Trickstar Candina and tried to use the effect to add another Trickstar card but was met with Jordan’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He Set one and passed.

Jordan drew a card and had a hand of Book of Moon, Unending Nightmare, Effect Veiler, Altergeist Silquitous, and Altergeist Meluseek. He Normal Summoned Altergeist Meluseek and attacked directly for 500. He used its effect to send Trickstar Candina to the Graveyard. He Set Book of Moon and Unending Nightmare and passed.

Oletti activated Trickstar Light Stage’s effect and targeted Unending Nightmare but it was chained to destroy it. Oletti then activated Trickstar Reincarnation which resolved, with Jordan banishing Altergeist Silquitous and Effect Veiler to draw Altergeist Marionetter and Torrential Tribute. Oletti then used the in-Graveyard Trickstar Reincarnation to bring Trickstar Candina back to the field. He then used the in-hand Trickstar Lycoris to bounce Trickstar Candina and Special Summon Trickstar Lycoris. Next, he Normal Summoned Trickstar Candina and used the effect to add another Trickstar Lycoris to hand. He then attacked with Trickstar Candina into Altergeist Meluseek, whose effect let Jordan add Altergeist Kunquery. Trickstar Lycoris attacked directly, then Trickstar Lycoris swapped places with Trickstar Candina, but that attack was stopped by Book of Moon.

Jordan drew Raigeki! He Normal Summoned Altergeist Marionetter and the effect was used to Set Altergeist Manifestation from the Deck. Raigeki came down next, clearing Oletti’s field. Jordan’s Altergeist Marionetter attacked directly for 1600. In Main Phase 2, Marionetter’s effect was used to send itself to the Graveyard to Special Summon Altergeist Meluseek, and that was used to Link Summon Linkuriboh. The effect of Altergeist Meluseek was activated but Oletti’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring shut it down. Jordan Set Altergeist Manifestation and Torrential Tribute before passing.

Oletti drew to 4 in hand. He activated Trickstar Light Stage but Jordan chained Unending Nightmare to destroy it. He then Normal Summoned Trickstar Candina and her effect was used to add Trickstar Reincarnation to hand. He Set one to the back and went to the Battle Phase, then into Main Phase 2, then the End Phase. In the End Phase, Jordan activated Altergeist Manifestation to Special Summon Altergeist Meluseek.

Jordan drew Monster Reborn! He attacked with Altergeist Meluseek directly. Oletti activated Trickstar Reincarnation, forcing Oletti to banish his two cards to draw Effect Veiler and Solemn Judgment! Altergeist Meluseek’s effect sent Trickstar Candina to the Graveyard and Linkuriboh attacked directly. Next, Altergeist Meluseek was sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon another Linkuriboh! Altergeist Meluseek’s effect triggered but Oletti used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it.

Oletti used Trickstar Reincarnation’s effect to Special Summon Trickstar Candina again, and activated Raigeki! Jordan was forced to activate Solemn Judgment to protect his monsters. Trickstar Candina attacked a Linkuriboh but its effect negated the attack.

Jordan drew Solemn Warning. He Set it and passed.

Oletti Normal Summoned Trickstar Lilybell but Jordan activated Torrential Tribute to clear the field.

Jordan drew and activated Pot of Desires, banishing 10 cards to draw Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Chaos Hunter. With 1050 LP, he was dangerously close to losing if he activated Unending Nightmare. He Normal Summoned Effect Veiler… and attacked directly… but then used Linkuriboh’s effect to Special Summon it and attack. In the End Phase, Oletti flipped Scapegoat!

Oletti used two of those Sheep Tokens to Link Summon Missus Radiant. Missus Radiant attacked into Linkuriboh but it negated the attack.

Jordan drew Dark Hole and activated it! He Set Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and passed.

Oletti Set a back row and passed.

Jordan drew Altergeist Meluseek and Normal Summoned it. It attacked directly but Oletti activated Cosmic Cyclone on the Set Solemn Warning. The attack went through brining Oletti to 3300 LP.

Oletti drew to 2 cards in hand. He Set a back row and a monster and passed.

Jordan drew Altergeist Protocol. He Flip Summoned Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring then used it and the face-up Altergeist Meluseek to Synchro Summon… Herald of the Arc Light?! He used Altergeist Meluseek’s effect to add Altergeist Marionetter to hand but it got banished by Trickstar Reincarnation! The 3 cards got banished and he drew Altergeist Manifestation, Heavy Storm Duster and Altergeist Silquitous. He Set two back row cards and Normal Summoned Altergeist Silquitous. He passed there.

Oletti used Trickstar Reincarnation’s effect to Special Summon Trickstar Lilybell from the Graveyard. When going into the Battle Phase, Jordan activated the Set Altergeist Manifestation to Special Summon Altergeist Meluseek. On resolution, Jordan activated Linkuriboh to send Altergeist Meluseek to Special Summon Linkuriboh. Altergeist Meluseek’s effect added Altergeist Marionetter with just 5 cards left in Deck. Lilybell attacked directly but Linkuriboh negated the attack. In the End Phase, Heavy Storm Duster blew away Oletti’s Set Mind Crush. He then activated Altergeist Manifestation’s in-Graveyard effect to add another Altergeist Manifestation from his Graveyard to his hand.

Jordan drew Bottomless Trap Hole. He Normal Summoned Altergeist Marionetter. He activated the effect but there were no valid picks left in the Deck. (2 Pot of Duality, Torrential Tribute, and Bottomless Trap Hole were in his Deck.)  Altergeist Manifestation’s effect sent Altergeist Silquitous to the Graveyard to Special Summon Altergeist Meluseek from the Graveyard. Altergeist Meluseek’s effect sent Oletti’s Set Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to the Graveyard. The rest of the monsters attacked, then Linkuriboh swapped in, leaving Oletti at 1100 LP to Jordan’s 1050. It wasn’t enough to cover the difference. Oletti wins Duel 2, forcing the Match to end in a Draw.

Both players have a record of 5-2-1 going into Round 9, which will be played tomorrow at 9 AM Eastern Time!
