YCS Atlanta 2018 First-Timers!
Welcome to YCS Atlanta, 2018! There are 1143 Duelists competing this weekend, but not all of them are YCS veterans. Some of them are competing in a YCS event for the first time! Check out some of the YCS first-timers here at YCS Atlanta!
Kenneth Martinez
28-year-old Kenneth Martinez from Orlando, Florida has been playing the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME for about 3 years, but is competing in his first-ever YCS this weekend in Atlanta! He’s using a SPYRAL Deck, undaunted by the recent hit to SPYRALS on the February 5th, 2018 Forbidden & Limited List. Kenneth has been to a few Regional Qualifiers in the past, but none of those events were tournaments of this magnitude. He tested his Deck a lot with all of his friends to prepare for this event. Take a look at Kenneth holding up his favorite SPYRAL monster!
Jalen Jackson
19-year-old Jalen Jackson from Oxford, Alabama has been playing the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME for a couple of years, but never competed in a YCS event. This weekend is his first! He competed in 1 Regional Qualifier in his Dueling career, but the attendance this weekend makes the competition here much fiercer. Jalen is using a Paleozoic Frog Deck, enhanced by additional copies of Bottomless Trap Hole and Torrential Tribute thanks to the new Forbidden & Limited List.
Brian Breland
21-year-old Brian Brelend from Brooklyn, Mississippi has been Dueling for over 5 years, but never competed in a YCS event. This weekend, he is using a 60-card Zombie Lightsworn Deck with That Grass Looks Greener in it. Brian says it’s one of his favorite Decks, and thinks it’s a good choice for many of the Decks that he expects to see this weekend. Here’s Brian holding up his favorite Extra Deck monster that he uses: Black Rose Dragon!
Andrew Whitesides
16-year-old Andrew Whitesides from Marietta, Georgia has been Dueling for 3 years, but never competed in a YCS event! He’s excited by the number of players competing this weekend. “It’s really cool that so many people came out to play Yu-Gi-Oh!,” he says. “It’s a heart-warming feeling.” Andrew is using a Paleozoic Frog Deck this weekend, because he enjoys Setting 5 cards to his back row and passing his turn. Here’s Andrew holding up one of his key cards: Toadally Awesome!
We have YCS first-timers of all different ages and from all different places! How will our YCS first-timers fare in this weekend’s competition? Follow the event coverage to find out!
