Welcome to Round 5! We’re halfway done with Day 1, and this round’s Feature Match takes us to Table 71 where Jermaine Leach from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has an ABC Deck that heavily features Cyber Dragon support cards like Cyber Dragon Core and Cyber Repair Plant. His opponent is Turner Brattan from New Jersey with a True Draco Deck. They’re both 3-1 at the moment, but that won’t be the case after this match. it’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Brattan won the roll and elected to go first. He started off with Dragonic Diagram, setting a card then using Dragonic Diagram’s effect to destroy the Set Disciples of the True Dracophoenix to add True Draco Heritage from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Heritage to draw a card. Next, he activated Terraforming to add another copy of Dragonic Diagram from his Deck to his hand. Brattan activated the second copy, setting Typhoon and activating Dragonic Diagram to destroy Typhoon to add Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster from Deck to hand. He then activated Heritage’s extra Normal Summon ability and Tributed it for Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster. Next, Pot of Desires was activated, banishing the top 10 cards to draw 2 more. Upstart Goblin was activated next, drawing another card. He Set 2 to the back and passed.

Leach drew Swift Scarecrow, adding it to his hand of another Swift Scarecrow, Cyber Dragon, Monster Reborn, Effect Veiler, and Cyber Repair Plant. He passed.

Brattan activated Pot of Duality, revealing Amano-Iwato, Terraforming and Rivalry of Warlords. He added Amano-Iwato and shuffled the rest back into his Deck. He Normal Summoned Amano-Iwato and attacked with both of his monsters (Leach was unable to use Swift Scarecrow thanks to Amano-Iwato’s effect). Amano-Iwato bounced back to his hand in the End Phase.

Leach drew Gold Gadget. He Special Summoned Cyber Dragon then Normal Summoned Gold Gadget. He used both monsters to Link Summon Qliphort Genius. He then activated Cyber Repair Plant and Brattan chained Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster to add Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King from his Deck to his hand. Leach resolved Cyber Repair Plant, adding Galaxy Solider from his Deck to his hand. he activated it, discarding Effect Veiler. Leach then activated Galaxy Soldier’s other effect to add another Galaxy Soldier from his Deck to his hand. Leach activated Monster Reborn, Special Summoning Cyber Dragon from his Graveyard. After the chain resolved, Brattan activated True Draco Apocalypse, Tributing it and Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster to Tribute Summon Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King. True Draco Apocalypse’s Graveyard effect destroyed Leach’s Cyber Dragon. Leach then used Qliphort Genius’s effect to negate Galaxy Soldier’s and Dragonic Diagram’s effects until the end of the turn. In the End Phase, Brattan activated Master Peace’s effect to destroy Leach’s Galaxy Soldier.

Brattan Set 2 cards to the back then used Dragonic Diagram’s effect to destroy the newly Set Rivalry of Warlords to add Disciples of the True Dracophoenix. Disciples was activated and Brattan used the effect to shuffle True Draco Apocalypse, True Draco Heritage and Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster from the Graveyard back into his Deck to draw a card. He used Disciples of the True Dracophoenix’s other effect to Tribute it to Tribute Summon Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster, then activated True Draco Heritage and used the effect to draw a card. He then Normal Summoned Amano-Iwato and all of his monsters attacked to end the first Duel.

Duel 2

Leach elected to go first. He started with a hand of Cyber Dragon, Terraforming, Union Hangar, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Swift Scarecrow. He used Terraforming to add another Union Hangar and activate it to a C-Crush Wyvern from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned C-Crush Wyvern and used Hangar’s effect to equip B-Buster Drake from the Deck to C-Crush Wyvern.

Brattan drew to 6 cards in hand. He activated Pot of Duality, revealing 2 copies of True Draco Apocalypse and a Terraforming, revealing vital information that Brattan doesn’t have 2 copies in his hand. Brattan activated the Terraforming but Leach chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it. Brattan Set 4 cards then activated one of the sets, Card of Demise, drawing 2 cards. He activated another Terraforming, adding Dragonic Diagram from his Deck to his hand. he activated Dragonic Diagram and used the effect, destroying a Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King from his hand to add True King’s Return from his Deck to his hand. He Set 2 more to fill up his Spell/Trap Zones and passed.

Leach drew Evenly Matched. Leach used B-Buster Drake’s effect to Special Summon itself and tried to use Hangar’s effect to equip but Brattan chained Cosmic Cyclone to banish the Field Spell. Leach activated the other Hangar in his hand, adding A-Assault Core from his Deck to his hand. He used B-Buster Drake and C-Crush Wyvern to Link Summon Qliphort Genius. After the Summon, Leach used C-Crush Wyvern’s effect and B-Buster Drake’s effect in a chain. B-Buster Drake’s effect added C-Crush Wyvern from the Deck to the hand while C-Crush Wyvern Special Summoned another C-Crush Wyvern from his hand. Leach then used Union Hangar’s effect to equip B-Buster Drake from the Deck to C-Crush Wyvern. He then Normal Summoned A-Assault Core, then used Qliphort Genius, and the 2 other monsters to Link Summon Borreload Dragon. Leach then used B-Buster Drake’s effect to add A-Assault Core from his Deck to his hand. He then banished A-Assault Core, B-Buster Drake and C-Crush Wyvern from his Graveyard to Special Summon ABC-Dragon Buster from his Extra Deck. He used ABC-Dragon Buster’s effect, discarding another A-Assault Core to banish one of Brattan’s Set cards, but Brattan chained Forbidden Chalice to negate the effect. Leach then banished another A-Assault Core, B-Buster Drake and C-Crush Wyvern to Special Summon another ABC-Dragon Buster. Leach went into the Battle Phase and attacked with the 3400 ATK ABC-Dragon Buster. The second ABC-Dragon Buster attacked and Brattan tried to activate True King’s Return but Leach chained ABC-Dragon Buster’s effect discarding Swift Scarecrow to banish True King’s Return. Finally, Borreload Dragon attacked to send the match to a third and final Duel!

Duel 3

Brattan elected to go first. He started off with Dragonic Diagram. He Set 4 cards and flipped a Set Card of Demise. After the 3 draws, Leach activated Droll & Lock Bird, preventing any further drawing or searching this turn, putting Brattan in an awkward spot of not having Dragonic Diagram’s effect available. Brattan Tributed a Set Disciples of the True Dracophoenix to Tribute Summon Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster. In the End Phase, Brattan discarded another Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster.

Leach activated Terraforming and Brattan chained Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster to add Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior from his Deck to his hand while Leach added Union Hangar. Leach activated the Field Spell but Brattan chained Typhoon to destroy it. Leach then Normal Summoned Cyber Dragon Core, using its effect to add Cyber Repair Plant from Deck to hand. Leach then activated Cosmic Cyclone to banish Brattan’s Dragonic Diagram.

Brattan Tributed Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster to Tribute Summon Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior. Brattan then activated Pot of Desires, banishing the top 10 cards to draw 2 more. He activated Terraforming, adding Dragonic Diagram from his Deck to his hand. He activated the Field Spell, setting a card then using Dragonic Diagram to destroy the Set True Draco Heritage to add Disciples of the True Dracophoenix from his Deck to his hand. He activated Disciples of the True Dracophoenix, using it to send 2 copies to Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster and another Disciples of the True Dracophoenix back to his Deck to draw a card. Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior attacked and destroyed Leach’s Cyber Dragon Core. Brattan then Set a card and passed.

Leach drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for turn, adding to his hand of Union Hangar, Cyber Repair Plant and A-Assault Core. He activated Union Hangar, Brattan chained Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior and Leach chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate Ignis Heat. Leach added C-Crush Wyvern to his hand. When the chain resolved, Brattan activated True Draco Apocalypse and used its effect, Tributing Disciples of the True Dracophoenix and Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior to Tribute Summon Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King. Brattan used Disciples of the True Dracophoenix’s effect to destroy Leach’s Union Hangar. Leach then used Cyber Repair Plant to add Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju from his Deck to his hand (Jizukiru is in fact a LIGHT Machine). He Tributed Brattan’s Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King to Special Summon Jizukiru to Brattan’s field. Leach then used the effect of Cyber Dragon Core in his Graveyard to Special Summon another one from his Deck. He then sent Jizukiru and Cyber Dragon Core to the Graveyard to Special Summon Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. He then Normal Summoned C-Crush Wyvern and used both monsters to Link Summon Qliphort Genius. He then used C-Crush Wyvern’s effect to Special Summon A-Assault Core. Leach then activated Genius’s effect, negating A-Assault Core and Brattan’s True Draco Apocalypse. Both monsters attacked directly.

Brattan used Dragonic Diagram to destroy True Draco Apocalypse to add True Draco Heritage. True Draco Apocalypse’s effect activated to destroy A-Assault Core. Leach’s A-Assault Core let him add C-Crush Wyvern from his Graveyard to his hand. Brattan then activated True Draco Heritage and used its effect to draw a card. He then used the Tribute Summon effect of True Draco Heritage, Tributing it to Tribute Summon Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster. Majesty Maiden attacked and destroyed Leach’s Genius.

Leach drew Pot of Desires, which was activated, banishing the top 10 cards of his Deck. Brattan chained Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster to add Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King from his Deck to his hand. Leach drew Anti-Spell Fragrance and Droll & Lock Bird. He then banished Cyber Dragon Core to Special Summon the original Cyber Dragon in Defense Position. He Set C-Crush Wyvern and Anti-Spell Fragrance and passed.

In Brattan’s Standby Phase, Leach activated the Set Anti-Spell Fragrance and Brattan chained Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster to add another copy of Maiden from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Raigeki which was Set since turn 1. He then used Dragonic Diagram to destroy the Set Terraforming to add Disciples of the True Dracophoenix. He activated Disciples and used the effect to Tribute Summon the second Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster. Disciple’s effect destroyed Leach’s Anti-Spell Fragrance and both Maiden’s attacked for game!
