Round 6 Feature Match: Joshua Forbis vs. David Flores
Joshua Forbis from St. Louis, Missouri and David Flores from Houston, Texas are both currently 5-0 here at YCS Memphis! Forbis is using a 60-card Deck packed with Plants, Zombies, Dinosaurs, and more, featuring That Grass Looks Greener! Flores is piloting a more traditional Pendulum Magician Deck. One of these Duelists will advance in the tournament undefeated. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Flores activated Mythic Beast Master Cerberus in his Pendulum Zone and activated its effect, but Forbis discarded Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from his hand to negate it. Next, Flores activated Dragon Shrine to send Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm to his Graveyard. He activated its effect to Special Summon it and then used its effect to add Supreme King Gate Zero to his hand. He activated Pot of Desires next, banishing the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down to draw 2 cards. He Normal Summoned Purple Poison Magician and then combined it with Darkwurm to Link Summon Heavymetalfoes Electrumite. He used its effect, and Forbis Chained Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his hand to destroy Electrumite. Electrumite sent Mythical Beast Master Cerberus from his Main Deck to his Extra Deck face-up.
Forbis drew a card and then had Left Arm Offering, Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, and 2 copies of Pot of Desires in his hand. He activated the Pot of Desires to banish the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down and draw Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Souleating Oviraptor. He Normal Summoned the Oviraptor and used its effect to send Overtex Qoatlus to the Graveyard and then used the Qoatlus’s effect to add Double Evolution Pill to his hand. Forbis activated the Double Evolution Pill next, banishing Qoatlus and Ghost Ogre from his Graveyard to Special Summon Overtex Qoatlus from his Deck. Next, Forbis banished his hand to activate Left Arm Offering! He grabbed That Grass Looks Greener and then activated it! Forbis had 38 cards in his Deck, while Flores had 20, so That Grass Looks Greener sent the top 18 cards of Forbis’s Deck to his Graveyard.
Forbis banished 7 Spells from his Graveyard to Special Summon Fairy Tail – Snow and then combined Snow with Oviraptor to Xyz Summon Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn. He detached Snow from Minerva to send Lonefire Blossom, Mezuki, and Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard. Next, he banished Mezuki from his Graveyard to Special Summon Uni-Zombie in Attack Position and then attacked directly with Minerva, Uni-Zombie, and Qoatlus, dropping Flores down to 2000 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Forbis used Uni-Zombie’s effect to send Shiranui Spiritmaster from his Deck to his Graveyard and passed his turn.
Flores activated Instant Fusion, dropping down to 1000 Life Points to Special Summon Lyrilusc – Independent Nightingale to his Extra Monster Zone. He activated its effect to drop Forbis down to 7500 Life Points and then placed Harmonizing Magician in his open Pendulum Zone. That prompted Forbis to banish 7 cards from his Graveyard, including Shiranui Solitaire and Shiranui Spiritmaster, to Special Summon Fairy Tail – Snow from his Graveyard. He used Spiritmaster’s effect to destroy Harmonizing Magician, and Solitaire’s effect Special Summoned Spiritmaster. Flores conceded, unable to recover.

Duel Two
Flores started off Duel 2 by activating Master Cerberus in his Pendulum Zone and using its effect to destroy it and add Mythical Beast Jackal King to his hand.
He activated Jackal King in his Pendulum Zone and destroyed it to Special Summon Master Cerberus. Next, he Normal Summoned Harmonizing Magician and combined it with Master Cerberus to Link Summon Heavymetalfoes Electrumite. He used Electrumite’s effect to send Astrograph Sorcerer to his Extra Deck and then activated Pendulum Call by discarding another copy of Pendulum Call. He added Oafdragon Magician and Black Fang Magician to his hand. He activated Supreme King Gate Zero in his Pendulum Zone next and used Electrumite’s effect to destroy it and add Astrograph to his hand. He Special Summoned Astrograph and added Jackal King to his hand with the Sorcerer’s effect. He used the Electrumite’s effect to draw 1 card. Next, he activated Oafdragon Magician and Black Fang Magician in his Pendulum Zones. He used Oafdragon’s Pendulum Effect to add Harmonizing to his hand from the Extra Deck. Next, he Pendulum Summon Jackal King and Gate Zero from his Extra Deck Linked to Electrumite, and Pendulum Summoned Harmonizing Magician from his hand. He used Harmonizing Magician’s effect to Special Summon Black Fang Magician from his Deck and then combined Gate Zero and Astrograph Sorcerer to Xyz Summon Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon. He combined Electrumite and Absolute Dragon to Link Summon Zefra Metaltron next, and Special Summoned Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon Linked to Metaltron with the effect of Absolute Dragon. He Tuned Harmonizing with Black Fang, banishing the Black Fang, to Synchro Summon PSY-Framelord Omega. The PSY-Framelord Omega was Linked to Metaltron. Flores passed his turn.
Forbis opened up with Fossil Dig, Souleating Oviraptor, Giant Rex, Gem-Knight Garnet, Shiranui Spiritmaster, and Ultimate Conductor Tyranno. In the Standby Phase, Flores returned Black Fang from his Banished Zone to his Graveyard with Omega’s effect. Forbis Summoned Souleating Oviraptor and activated its effect to add Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju to his hand. He Summoned it to Flores’s field by Tributing his Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon and then Set Fossil Dig. He flipped it face-up immediately, adding 2 Spell Counters to Jackal King and allowing him to grab another Souleating Oviraptor from his Deck. Forbis thought for a while and then conceded, realizing he had no way out.
David Flores wins the second Duel after building an insurmountable field on his first turn!
Duel Three
Joshua Forbis opened up Duel 3 with Fossil Dig, Pot of Desires, Brilliant Fusion, Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, and Double Evolution Pill.
He activated Fossil Dig to add Souleating Oviraptor to his hand and then activated Brilliant Fusion; but Flores negated it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Next, Forbis activated Pot of Desires, banishing the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down to draw another Brilliant Fusion and a Called by the Grave. He Summoned the Oviraptor and used its effect to add Dogoran from his Deck to his hand. He Set Called by the Grave and passed his turn.
Flores drew a card and ended his turn without playing any cards.
Forbis drew Predaplant Orphys Scorpio and Summoned it. He discarded Dogoran to activate its effect and Special Summon Predaplant Darlington Cobra from his Deck. He used Darlington Cobra’s effect to add Brilliant Fusion to his hand. He then combined his two Predaplants to Xyz Summon M-X-Saber Invoker and used Invoker’s effect to Special Summon Heroic Challenger – Thousand Blades from his Deck. He combined Thousand Blades with Invoker to Link Summon Missus Radiant and then used Brilliant Fusion to send Gem-Knight Garnet and Performage Trick Clown from his Deck to his Graveyard and Special Summon Gem-Knight Seraphinite. He Special Summoned Trick Clown by giving up 1000 Life Points, and then Special Summoned Thousand Blades after he took the damage. Next, he combined Missus Radiant with Seraphinite and Thousand Blades to Summon Curious, the Lightsworn Dominion. He used Curious’s effect to send Snow from his Deck to his Graveyard and then sent Performage Damage Juggler and 2 other cards from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard with Curious’s effect. He banished the Damage Juggler to add Performage Hat Tricker from his Deck to his hand and then combined Trick Clown and Oviraptor to Xyz Summon Minerva. He used its effect to send 3 cards from the top of his Deck to his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Ultimate Conductor Tyranno from his hand. He activated Double Evolution Pill next, and Flores conceded, destined for defeat on that very turn! Flores revealed his hand consisting of The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode and a bunch of low-scale Pendulum Monsters and offered the handshake!
