Round 11 Feature Match: Jesse Dean Kotton vs. David Keener III
It’s Round 11 and the final Round of Swiss! Both of the competitors at Table 29 are World Championship competitors and have records of 7-2-1. A loss here will eliminate a Duelist from contention while a win might let one of them sneak into Top 32 depending on how the rest of the field does. Jesse Kotton from Toronto, Ontario has a Gouki Deck while David Keener III from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has Sky Strikers. Who will keep their chances of Top 32 alive? It’s time to Duel!
Duel 1
Kotton won the roll and elected to go first. He started by Special Summoning Junk Forward then activated Instant Fusion to Special Summon Dragoness the Wicked Knight. He used both monsters to Xyz Summon M-X-Saber Invoker whose effect Special Summoned Gouki Suprex from the Deck. Both monsters were used to Special Summon Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights whose effect dumped Noble Arms – Arfeudutyr from the Deck to the Graveyard to Special Summon Gouki Octostretch. He also got Gouki Headbatt with Gouki Suprex’s effect. He then used Gouki Headbatt, discarding Gouki Suprex to Special Summon Headbatt. He then used Gouki Headbatt and Gouki Octostretch to Link Summon Knightmare Goblin. He used the Gouki effects to add Gouki Twistcobra and Gouki Re-Match from his Deck to his hand. He used Re-Match to Special Summon Gouki Octostretch and Gouki Headbatt from the Graveyard. He used both Goukis and Isolde to Link Summon Firewall Dragon. He then Link Summoned Knightmare Mermaid using Knightmare Goblin. After a slew of plays later that went too fast to properly record without slowing down the tournament to a crawl, Kotton achieved Extra Link:

Duel 2
Keener elected to go first. He started off with Pot of Desires, banishing the top 10 cards of his Deck but got hit with Kotton’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate the draw effect. Keener Set 3 cards and passed.
Kotton started off with Gouki Riscorpio and attacked for 2300.
Keener Normal Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye and used her to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. In the End Phase, Keener used her effect to add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Deck to his hand.
Kotton Tributed Keener’s Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku to Special Summon Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju to Keener’s field. He then Normal Summoned Gouki Twistcobra and used both Goukis to Link Summon Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights. He used both Goukis’ effects and Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights’s effect, but Keener Chained the Set Infinite Impermanence to negate Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights’s effects. The Gouki effects added Gouki Headbatt and Gouki Suprex from his Deck to his hand. He then activated Gouki Re-Match to Special Summon 2 Goukis, but Keener Chained his Set Called by the Grave to banish Kotton’s Gouki Riscorpio. Kotton continued by discarding Gouki Suprex to Special Summon Gouki Headbatt then both on-field Goukis were used to Link Summon another Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights. The Gouki effect added another Gouki Suprex to his hand. Kotton attempted to use Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights’s effect to Special Summon a Warrior from the Deck but Keener Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Kotton sent Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade to the Graveyard anyway as a cost. He then added Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade back to his hand by banishing 2 Warriors. He then Link Summoned Knightmare Unicorn and used its effect, discarding Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade to shuffle Keener’s Set Spell/Trap back to the Deck. Knightmare Unicorn was sent to the Graveyard to Link Summon Knightmare Mermaid then Kotton activated Soul Charge to Special Summon Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Gouki Headbatt, Gouki Twistcobra, Isolde, Two Tales of the Noble Knights and Knightmare Unicorn from the Graveyard! This is going to be a big turn coming up! Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Gouki Twistcobra were used to Xyz Summon M-X-Saber Invoker whose effect Special Summoned Gouki Suprex from the Deck. He then sent Knightmare Unicorn and M-X-Saber Invoker to the Graveyard to Link Summon Firewall Dragon! He then added back Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade from his Graveyard to his hand. Then he used Gouki Suprex and Gouki Headbatt to Link Summon Knightmare Goblin. He used the effects, discarding Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade and drawing Junk Forward and used Firewall Dragon to Special Summon Gouki Octostretch from his hand. He got the Divine Sword – Phoenix Blade back from the Graveyard then used the additional Normal Summon on Gouki Suprex. Gouki Octostretch and Gouki Suprex were used to Link Summon Knightmare Cerberus whose effect destroyed Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju while also adding Gouki Re-Match and drawing a card. He then used Firewall Dragon’s effect to add Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Gouki Octostretch and Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju from his Graveyard back to his hand. Some amount of plays later and we have another Extra Link. With Keener having no cards on the field.
Keener drew for turn and conceded once again.
