A full year of North American events all comes down to this! 1793 Duelists and 63 Dragon Duelists have gathered here in Fort Worth, Texas to compete in North America’s biggest tournament of the year! The top 4 Duelists of the WCQ and the top 2 Duelists of the Dragon Duel WCQ will be invited to compete in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship in Japan later this year for a shot at becoming world champion!

The competition will be fierce this weekend. Sky Striker Trickstar Decks have been dominating recent tournaments, but Gouki Decks, Mekk-Knight Decks, Altergeist Decks, Lightsworn Decks, Pendulum Decks, and even Burning Abyss Decks have met tremendous success recently. As prevalent as the Sky Striker cards appear to be, no one can predict which Duelist and Deck will ultimately triumph this weekend.

Complicating the tournament even further, for the first weekend ever, Battles of Legend: Relentless Revenge is legal for tournament play! Just released yesterday, this new set contains reprints of popular and powerful cards like Trickstar Reincarnation and Dragonic Diagram – but more importantly, it contains brand-new cards capable of shaking up this weekend’s tournament. Topologic Gumblar Dragon and Living Fossil, for example, have been making their way into Gouki Duelists’ Decks. The new Timelords and the Fairy Tale cards centered around the Golden Castle of Stromberg also have the potential to impact Duels this weekend.

All Duelists’ eyes are on first place, and each Duelist’s goal this weekend is to make it to this year’s World Championship. But there’s also lots of stuff for Duelists attending this weekend to do, even if they’re not qualified to participate in the North American WCQ or Dragon Duel WCQ!

Public Events will be held throughout the weekend. Everyone will be able to participate in these events. They include Starter Deck Tournaments, Structure Deck Tournaments, Battle City Tournaments, Ultimate Duelist Series Qualifiers, Win-A-Mat Tournaments, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!! Tournaments, 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! School Tournament Series. 2019 Regional Qualifiers will be held throughout the weekend as well, giving Duelists a first opportunity to qualify for next year’s North American World Championship Qualifier!

Special guests Greg Abbey and Oliver Wyman are also making an appearance this weekend! Greg Abbey voices Tristan Taylor, Yusei Fudo, and Jean-Claude Magnum in the animated Yu-Gi-Oh! series, while Oliver Wyman voices Zigfried Von Schroeder, Aster Phoenix, and an assortment of other characters. Both voice actors will be making announcements and signing autographs throughout the weekend. Tomorrow, they’ll even be engaging in a special Live Duel between Zigfried Von Schroeder and Jean-Claude Magnum. They might even show off some of the new cards in the upcoming Shadows in Valhalla booster set.
