200th YCS Columbus: Round 2 Feature Match – Dustin Brown vs. Eric Mash

September 22nd, 2018

Dustin Brown from Jackson, Michigan is Dueling against Eric Mash from Mebane, North Carolina in this Round 2 Feature Match here in Columbus, Ohio! Brown and Mash are both excited to be competing in a tournament under the new Forbidden & Limited List, and both have a 1-0 record with their unconventional Decks. Brown is using a Danger! Deck made possible by Cybernetic Horizon, and his Deck features Shaddoll monsters. When Brown uses the effects of his Danger! monsters to force his opponents to discard a card from his hand, if they discard a Shaddoll monster, not only will he be able to Special Summon a Danger! monster from his hand and draw a card, but he’ll also get to activate the effect of his discarded Shaddoll monster! Mash is using a True Draco Deck, complete with a 15-card Extra Deck. It’s Danger! vs. True Draco here in Round 2! Let’s Duel!

Duel One

Brown won the die roll but opted to go second.

Mash started off Duel 1 by Setting 4 cards to his back row and activating Card of Demise to draw 3 cards.

He activated Dragonic Diagram and used its effect to destroy his face-down Disciples of the True Dracophoenix and add Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter to his hand. He activated True Draco Heritage next, and used its effect to draw a card. He then used its effect to gain a Normal Summon and Tributed it for Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior. He Set a card to his back row and then discarded Dinomight Knight from his hand in the End Phase due to the effect of Card of Demise.

Brown opened up with Fossil Dig, Double Evolution Pill, Shaddoll Beast, Danger!? Jackalope?, and 2 copies of Danger! Chupacabra!. He activated Fossil Dig, but Mash flipped Imperial Order to negate it. Brown Set his Double Evolution Pill and then revealed Chupacabra from his hand to activate its effect, but Chupacabra was randomly discarded and its effect couldn’t activate! Brown used another Chupacabra’s effect next, and that one was discarded too, also unable to use its effect. Mash activated the effect of his Jackalope next, and when it was randomly discarded from his hand, he Special Summoned Danger! Nessie! from his Deck in Defense Position. In the End Phase, Brown activated Waterfall of Dragon Souls to add Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster from his Deck to his hand.

Mash gave up 700 Life Points in his Standby Phase to keep Imperial Order on his field and then Tributed the Imperial Order to Summon Majesty Maiden. He activated the effect of his Dragonic Diagram next, targeting his face-down Waterfall for destruction. He Chained it to add Ignis Heat from his Deck to his hand and then added True Draco Apocalypse to his hand with the effect of his Diagram. He flipped Disciples of the True Dracophoenix and activated its effect to shuffle 3 cards back into his Deck and draw a card, and then used Pot of Duality, revealing 2 copies of True Draco Heritage and a Terraforming from the top of his Deck. He added the Heritage to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. He Set Apocalypse to his back row and then used an extra Normal Summon gained by Disciples to Tribute the Apocalypse and Summon Ignis Heat. He used Apocalypse’s effect to destroy Nessie, and then attacked directly with both copies of Ignis Heat and Majesty Maiden to wipe out all 8000 of Brown’s Life Points!

Some strong cryptid hunting by Eric Mash allows him to make short work of Dustin Brown and his Danger! monsters in Duel 1!

Duel Two

Mash started off Duel 2 by Setting a True Draco Heritage and Tributing it to Summon Ignis Heat. He Set another card to his back row and passed.

Brown opened up with Double Evolution Pill, Effect Veiler, Danger! Chupacabra!, Fossil Dig, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, and Red Reboot.

He activated Fossil Dig to add Souleating Oviraptor to his hand and then Normal Summoned it and activated its effect. Mash Chained the effect of Ignis Heat, and Brown Chained Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit to destroy the Ignis Heat! Mash added Disciples to his hand, and Brown sent Overtex Qoatlus from his Deck to his Graveyard. He used Qoatlus’s effect to add Double Evolution Pill from his Deck to his hand and then Set a Double Evolution Pill. He activated the effect of the Chupacabra in his hand next, and when Mash Chained Rivalry of Warlords, Brown Chained Red Reboot! Brown paid 4000 Life Points, Mash Set the Rivalry back face-down, and then Mash Set True Draco Apocalypse from his Deck. Chupacabra’s effect resolved, and Mash found the Chupacabra in his hand and randomly discarded it! Brown flipped his face-down Double Evolution Pill next, banishing the Chupacabra and Qoatlus from his Graveyard to Special Summon Overtex Qoatlus from his Deck. He attacked directly with his Oviraptor and Qoatlus to drop Mash down to 3500 Life Points and then ended his turn.

Mash Tributed his face-down Apocalypse to Summon Ignis Heat and used the Apocalypse’s effect to destroy Qoatlus. When it hit the Graveyard, Brown added Double Evolution Pill from his Deck to his hand. Mash activated Disciples of the True Dracophoenix next, and shuffled all 3 cards from his Graveyard back into his Deck to draw a card. Mash then activated Pot of Duality, revealing Ignis Heat, Rivalry, and True King’s Return from the top of his Deck. He added the True King’s Return to his hand and shuffled the other 2 cards back into his Deck. Mash Set 2 cards to his back row and then activated Card of Demise to draw 3 cards. He Set one of those cards to his back row and then attacked the Oviraptor with Ignis Heat to destroy it. In the End Phase, Mash discarded Red Reboot and Disciples from his hand due to the effect of Card of Demise.

Brown drew Card Destruction and activated a Spell; but Mash flipped Imperial Order to negate it! Brown promptly conceded, once again shut down by Imperial Order!

Cryptozoologist Eric Mash takes a quick 2-0 win over Dustin Brown thanks to some tactful cryptid hunting and strong plays with Imperial Order. Mash is moving on with a 2-0 record!
