Round 4 Feature Match: Cameron Neal vs. Dean Arbuckle

March 2nd, 2019

Cameron Neal from Dallas, Texas is North America’s defending UDS Invitational Champion. Neal won North America’s most recent UDS Invitational in Kansas City, Missouri last August, and took home a Championship Belt featuring The Seal of Orichalcos. Now he’s back for a second one, this time using his Salamangreat Deck! He’s Dueling against Dean Arbuckle from Winston-Salem, North Carolina in a mirror-Match that is certain to be great. Both Duelists are currently undefeated, but only one of them can remain with a perfect record after this round is completed. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Neal opened up with Lady Debug, Artifact Scythe, Artifact Sanctum, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, and Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay.

He Normal Summoned Lady Debug and used its effect to add Salamangreat Gazelle to his hand. He then sent Lady Debug to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Balelynx and used its effect to add Salamangreat Sanctuary to his hand. He activated the Sanctuary and then used it to allow him to Link Summon another Balelynx using the one on his field as a Link Material. He Special Summoned Gazelle from his hand next and activated its effect, but lost out to Effect Veiler. Next, Neal sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and Set Artifact Sanctum.

Arbuckle Normal Summoned Lady Debug and activated its effect. Neal Chained Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to try to negate it, and Arbuckle Chained Called by the Grave to banish Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and resolve his Lady Debug’s effect. He added Gazelle to his hand. Next, he sent Lady Debug to the Graveyard to Link Summon Salamangreat Balelynx and activated its effect. Neal used the effect of Phantazmay to Special Summon it to his field, draw 2 cards, and return the Scythe from his hand to his Deck. Arbuckle added Salamangreat Sanctuary to his hand and then discarded Salamangreat Spinny from his hand to increase the ATK of Balelynx. He then used the effect of the Gazelle in his hand to Special Summon it to the field, and activated its effect to send Salamangreat Roar from his Deck to his Graveyard. He Special Summoned Spinny from his Graveyard and then Neal activated Artifact Sanctum! He Special Summoned Scythe from his Deck linked to Sunlight Wolf, and activated the effects of Scythe and Wolf. He returned a Gazelle from his Graveyard to his hand and stopped Arbuckle from Summoning any more monsters from his Extra Deck. Arbuckle passed his turn with no further play.

Neal Normal Summoned Salamangreat Gazelle and used its effect to send Fusion of Fire from his Deck to his Graveyard. He then sent Sunlight Wolf and Gazelle to the Graveyard to Link Summon another Sunlight Wolf and used its effect to return Fusion of Fire to his hand. He activated Salamangreat Circle next, adding Salamangreat Spinny from his Deck to his hand. He then discarded Spinny to increase the ATK of Balelynx and then Special Summoned Spinny back from the Graveyard. He then used Sunlight Wolf and Spinny as Link Materials to Link Summon Salamangreat Heatleo. He activated Fusion of Fire to fuse his own Heatleo with Arbuckle’s Gazelle and Summon Salamangreat Violet Chimera! He attacked Spinny with Scythe to destroy it, and then Violet Chimera attached Balelynx. Since Balelynx had gained 500 ATK earlier in the turn, Violet Chimera’s ATK were doubled to 8400! An attack over Balelynx dropped Arbuckle to just 600 Life Points, and then a direct attack from Phantazmay ended the Duel!

Cameron Neal wins the first Duel after a huge attack from Salamangreat Violet Chimera!

Duel Two

Arbuckle chose to let Neal go first in Duel 2.

Neal opened up with Artifact Sanctum, Salamangreat Circle, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Salamangreat Spinny, and Fusion of Fire. He activated Salamangreat Circle to add Salamangreat Gazelle to his hand and then Normal Summoned Spinny. He sent Spinny to the Graveyard to Link Summon Balelynx and used the effects of Balelynx and the Gazelle in his hand. Arbuckle Chained the effect of Phantazmay to Special Summon it and draw 2 cards before returning 1 card from his hand to his Deck. Neal Special Summoned Gazelle and added Salamangreat Sanctuary to his hand. He used his Gazelle’s effect to send Salamangreat Roar from his Deck to his Graveyard and then Special Summoned Spinny back from his Graveyard. He combined Spinny with Gazelle to Xyz Summon Salamangreat Miragestallio and used its effect to Special Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar from his Deck. He sent Balelynx and Miragestallio to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sunlight Wolf and then used Sanctuary to Link Summon a different Sunlight Wolf by sending the first one to the Graveyard. He used its effect to return Roar to his hand and then Special Summoned Jack Jaguar back from his Graveyard with its effect. He sent Jack Jaguar to the Graveyard to Link Summon a Balelynx behind Sunlight Wolf and then Set Artifact Sanctum and Salamangreat Roar before ending his turn.

Arbuckle activated Foolish Burial to send Spinny from his Deck to his Graveyard.

Next, he activated the effect of the Gazelle in his hand to Special Summon it to the field. He used its effect to send Salamangreat Roar from his Deck to his Graveyard. Then, he used Spinny’s effect to Special Summon it from his Graveyard, prompting Neal to flip Artifact Sanctum! Arbuckle Chained Super Polymerization, discarding Salamangreat Falco to fuse together Neal’s 2 Link Monsters and Summon Salamangreat Violet Chimera to his field. Neal Special Summoned Scythe from his Deck and activated its effect, and the discarded Falco’s effect allowed Arbuckle to Set Roar from his Graveyard. In his Battle Phase, Arbuckle attacked Scythe to destroy it. He attacked Miragestallio to try to destroy that too, but Neal banished a Balelynx from his Graveyard to protect it.  Neal dropped down to 5850 Life Points and Arbuckle Set a card to his back row before passing.

Neal drew Infinite Impermanence and then used the effect of his Miragestallio by detaching Spinny to Special Summon a Falco from his Deck. He then used the effect of a Gazelle in his hand to Special Summon it, and activated the effect of Gazelle to send Will of the Salamangreat from his Deck to his Graveyard. He sent Falco and Gazelle to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sunlight Wolf next, and used Falco’s effect to Set Will of the Salamangreat from his Graveyard. He then sent Sunlight Wolf and Miragestallio to the Graveyard to Link Summon Heatleo. He used Miragestallio’s effect to target Spinny and Heatleo’s effect to target a face-down Impermanence on Arbuckle’s field. He Chained the Impermanence to target Heatleo, and Spinny was banished from the Duel. Next, Neal Special Summoned Jack Jaguar from his Graveyard. He activated Fusion of Fire next, and Arbuckle instantly conceded!

Dean Arbuckle almost makes a comeback with Super Polymerization, but Cameron Neal seals the victory in the end with Fusion of Fire! UDS Invitational Champion Cameron Neal advances with a 4-0 record at the UDS Invitational – Winter 2019 here in Las Vegas!
