Dragon Duel Finals Feature Match: Victor Alfonso Gonzalez Martinez vs. Luis Eduardo Porras Garcia De Jalon
Victor Alfonso Gonzalez Martinez from Monterrey, Mexico has battled through to the Dragon Duel WCQ Finals with his True Draco Deck, relying heavily on key Trap Cards like Summon Limit and There Can Only Be One to stun his opponents. He is facing off against Luis Eduardo Porras Garcia De Jalon from Mexico City, Mexico, who has brought Salamangreat to the Finals.
Only one match remains between both of these Dragon Duelists and not only the title of 2019 Central America WCQ Champion, but also the coveted ticket to the World Championship in Berlin, Germany!
Porras won the roll and chose for Gonzalez to go first.
Duel One:
Gonzalez began with Pot of Duality, and added True Draco Heritage to his hand. He activated Terraforming next to grab Dragonic Diagram, then activated it and tried to use its effect, but lost out to Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit! He Set the rest of his hand to the back row and ended his turn.
Porras drew and activated Salamangreat Circle, adding Salamangreat Fowl to his hand, before he Normal Summoned Salamangreat Foxy and used it to Link Summon Salamangreat Balelynx. He triggered both Salamangreat Gazelle and Salamangreat Foxy, but Gonzalez Flipped Summon Limit to stop both! He declared an attack with Salamangreat Balelynx and Set two cards to the back row before ending his turn.
Gonzalez drew and played True Draco Heritage before ending his turn. During the End Phase, Porras used Salamangreat Rage to destroy the Summon Limit!
Porras drew and Normal Summoned Salamangreat Gazelle, then activated its effect along with Salamangreat Fowl. He sent Salamangreat Spinny to the Graveyard with Salamangreat Gazelle and used its effect to Special Summon itself. He overlayed both monsters for Salamangreat Miragestallio, then used its effect to Special Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar from his Deck. Next he Link Summoned Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf using Salamangreat Balelynx and Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, then Link Summoned again using Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and Salamangreat Jack Jaguar for another Sunlight Wolf. He used its effect to add back Salamangreat Rage, then activated Salamangreat Jack Jaguar to Special Summon itself so he could trigger Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and add Salamangreat Gazelle back to his hand. He declared an attack with Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and Set the Salamangreat Rage before ending his turn.
Gonzalez drew and Flipped his face-down Disciples of the True Dracophoenix, and in response Porras activated Salamangreat Rage to destroy it along with True Draco Heritage. This triggered the effect of the True Draco Spell, costing Porras his Set Called by the Grave. Gonzalez pressed on with another True Draco Heritage, drawing a card, then tributed it for Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster. He followed that up with Disciples of the True Dracophoenix, shuffling back his True Draco cards to draw a card, then moved to Battle Phase. He declared an attack with Majesty Maiden on Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, but Porras protected his monster with Salamangreat Balelynx. Gonzalez Set two cards and ended his turn.
Porras drew and during the Draw Phase, Gonzalez Flipped There Can Only Be One! Gonzalez sent everything to the Graveyard but Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, then used its effect to add back Salamangreat Rage. This triggered the effect of Majesty Maiden so Gonzalez added Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter to his hand.
Gonzalez drew and Porras Flipped Salamangreat Rage to destroy his monster and his Disciples of the True Dracophoenix, triggering the effect of Majesty Maiden so he could add Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior. Gonzalez sprang into action and slammed down Inspector Boarder along a couple True Draco spells, tributing those away to Summon his True Draco monsters, and clear his opponent’s field.
Porras drew and Set a monster before ending his turn.
Gonzalez drew and activated Waterfall of Dragon Souls so he could add Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster, then Summoned it and moved to Battle Phase to end the Duel!
Gonzalez pulls off a huge victory thanks to Summon Limit and There Can Only Be One. He is only one Duel away from becoming the next Champion! However, Porras is going to do everything he can to make sure that doesn’t happen. Both Duelists drove straight to their Side Decks to prepare for the next game.
Porras chose to go first in the second Duel.
Duel Two:
Porras started with Salamangreat Circle, using it to add Salamangreat Gazelle to his hand. He Normal Summoned Salamangreat Spinny next, using it to Link Summon Salamangreat Balelynx and used its effect along with the Salamangreat Gazelle in his hand. He added Salamangreat Sanctuary and dumped Salamangreat Rage to the Graveyard, then brought back Salamangreat Spinny thanks to its own effect. He overlayed both monsters for Salamangreat Miragestallio, then used it to Special Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar. He Link Summoned Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf next using Salamangreat Balelynx and Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, then used Salamangreat Sanctuary so he could Link Summon another copy of Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He used it to add back Salamangreat Rage, then brought back Salamangreat Jack Jaguar so he could add Salamangreat Gazelle back. He Set two cards and ended his turn.
Gonzalez began with Terraforming, but Porras used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to stop it. Gonzalez luckily had another one, and it resolved letting him add Dragonic Diagram to his hand. He activated it, destroying a card from his hand, to add True Draco Apocalypse. He Set it and immediately tributed it for Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior, then triggered the effect of True Draco Apocalypse to try to destroy a Salamangreat, but got blocked by Salamangreat Balelynx. When he moved to Battle Phase, Porras used Salamangreat Rage to destroy the monster and Dragonic Diagram, but Gonzalez was able to add True Draco Heritage thanks to Ignis’s effect. He pressed on with the True Draco Heritage, using it to drqaw two cards, and then slammed down Dragon Diagram and used it to destroy the Heritage so he could search Disciples of the True Dracophoenix. He used that the shuffle back some True Draco cards to draw a card, then Set three cards and activated Card of Demise! He drew three new cards and activated Pot of Duality next, using it to find True Draco Heritage. He Set a card, now four Set back row total, and discarded his hand during the End Phase because of Card of Demise.
Porras began by Link Summoning Salamangreat Heatleo using Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, then used its effect to put True Draco Apocalypse back into the Deck. He followed that up with Will of the Salamangreat, but got blasted by Twin Twisters! He Chained the other Set card, Waterfall of Dragon Souls, to add Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter to his hand. Gonzalez then activated the effect of Will of the Salamangreat, which Gonzalez responded to with True Draco Apocalypse so he could Tribute Summon his Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior. Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf hit the field, and Gonzalez destroyed the opposing Salamangreat Sanctuary. Porras pressed on and brought back Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, shuffling back Salamangreat Sanctuary, then Link Summoned Salamangreat Balelynx. He activated its effect, which Gonzalez responded to with the effect of Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter, but Porras Flipped his Set Crackdown! Gonzalez used True Draco Apocalypse to destroy his own Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter, letting him activated another True Draco Apocalypse from his Deck. Porras pressed on and Link Summoned another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, then Special Summoned Salamangreat Fowl from his hand. He kept onward and Link Summoned Salamangreat Heatleo, using it to shuffle back one copy of True Draco Apocalypse before moving to Battle Phase and putting Gonzalez down to 5700 Life Points.
Gonzalez drew and tributed his True Draco Apocalypse for Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior, but Porras prevented the effect of True Draco Apocalypse from destroying his monster thanks to Salamangreat Balelynx. Porras flipped Salamangreat Rage next, destroying Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior, which triggered its effect so Gonzalez could activate True Draco Heritage. He used it to draw two new cards, then tributed for Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster and destroyed Will of the Salamangreat with True Draco Heritage. He Set a card before ending his turn.
Porras drew and activated the effect Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, which let Gonzalez add Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior to his hand. Next he Link Summoned Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze but Gonzalez had Summon Limit to stop its effect! Porras was forced to pass his turn.
Gonzalez drew and Tribute Summoned Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior using Summon Limit, then declared attacks with both of his monsters to leave Porras with 5150 Life Points. He Set a card before ending his turn.
Porras drew and slammed down Salamangreat Circle, adding Salamangreat Foxy to his hand, trigger Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster so Gonzalez could add Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect, triggering the Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior so Gonzalez could activate Disciples of the True Dracophoenix from his Deck, while Porras added Fusion of Fire. Porras brought back Salamangreat Spinny, then overlayed both for Salamangreat Miragestallio, but when he activated its effect he lost out to Infinite Impermanence. He still had Salamangreat Gazelle, which he triggered, to Special Summon itself and send Salamangreat Falco to the Graveyard. Porras Link Summoned Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf next, triggering the effect of Salamangreat Miragestallio to bounce back Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior. He pressed onward with Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, then triggered Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to add back Salamangreat Gazelle. He Link Summoned another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf next using both of his monsters, then used its effect to add back Will of the Salamangreat. He used Will of the Salamangreat to Special Summon back Salamangreat Falco and Salamangreat Jack Jaguar and overlayed them for Abyss Dweller before ending his turn.
Gonzalez drew, and during the Draw Phase Porras used Salamangreat Rage to destroy both of his cards. Gonzalez triggerd his Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster to add Majesty Maiden, the True Dracocaster, and Porras responded with Abyss Dweller. The Salamangreat Falco that he detached triggered, letting him Set Salamangreat Rage once again. Gonzalez Set his True Draco’s Return then tributed it for Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior, declaring an attack over Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf before ending his turn.
Porras drew and activated Salamangreat Rage, discarding Salamangreat Fowl to blow away the Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior. He declared an attack with Abyss Dweller to put Gonzalez down to 4000.
Gonzalez drew and Set Disciples of the True Dracophoenix, then tributed it for Ignis Heat, the True Dracowarrior to declare an attack over Abyss Dweller before he ended his turn.
Porras drew and gave his hand a long look before offering the handshake!
