Finals Feature Match: Alejandro Garcia Moreno vs. Angel Fernando Ovalle Rivera
It all comes down to this. Alejandro Garcia Moreno from Mexico is trying to earn his third trip to the World Championship, while Angel Fernando Ovalla Rivera from Panama is trying to join his countryman, Galileo Mauricio De Obaldia Soza, who earned his invite via the World Qualifying Point Playoff on Friday. We’ve seen both of them at the Feature Match table already, and the matchup is Danger! Thunder Dragon against Salamangreat.
Who will take home the coveted title of the 2019 Central America WCQ Champion?
Ovalle won the roll and chose to go first…It’s Time to Duel!
Duel One:
Ovalle began with Salamangreat Foxy, using its effect to add Salamangreat Circle to his hand which he then activated to get Salamangreat Gazelle. He Link Summoned Salamangreat Balelynx next, triggering the effect of Salamangreat Gazelle from his hand to Special Summon it. The effect of Salamangreat Gazelle activated next, sending Salamangreat Jack Jaguar to the Graveyard. He discarded Salamangreat Spinny to pump the ATK of his Salamangreat Gazelle, then Special Summoned it and overlayed both monsters for Salamangreat Miragestallio. He used the effect of Salamangreat Miragestallio to Special Summon Salamangreat Falco from his Deck, then Link Summoned Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He Special Summoned Salamangreat Jack Jaguar and added back Salamangreat Gazelle thanks to Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, then activated Salamangreat Sanctuary and Summoned another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf using the old one so he could add Salamangreat Circle ot his hand. He overlayed for Abyss Dweller before Setting two cards and ending his turn. During the End Phase, Garcia used Thunder Dragondark to add another copy of it to his hand.
Garcia drew for turn, prompting Ovalle to activate Abyss Dweller. Garcia activated Sekka’s Light, and Ovalle thought for a minute before negating it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Next, he Normal Summoned Batteryman Solar and used its effect to send Thunder Dragonhawk to the Graveyard before banishing both of his monsters for Chaos Emperor, the Dragon of Armageddon. This triggered his banish Thunder Dragon’s effect, letting him add the original Thunder Dragon to his hand. He then ditched it to grab two more copies before he activated Thunder Dragonroar to add Thunder Dragonhawk back to his hand. He discarded Thunder Dragonhawk to Special Summon Thunder Dragondark, which triggered the effect of Batteryman Solar to Special Summon a Token. Garcia paused a took a moment to consider his next play, before he ultimately chose to tribute his Batteryman Solar for Thunder Dragon Colossus. He activated the effect of Danger! Tsuchinoko, and Ovalle randomly discarded Thunder Dragon from Garcia’s hand and Danger! Tsuchinoko hit the field while drawing him an extra card. He tributed Thunder Dragondark next to summon another Thunder Dragon Colossus, and finally moved to Battle Phase. He declared an attack over both of the opposing monsters, then directly with the rest of his, leaving Ovalle at 2000 Life Points after everything. In Main Phase 2, he used all of his monsters but a Thunder Dragon Colossus to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread, drawing four cards from his Deck before returning three to the bottom. He banished Thunder Dragon Colossus next for White Dragon Wyverburster, then used it to Link Summon Guardragon Elpy. He used the Guardragon to Special Summon Omni Dragon Brotaur, then used its effect discarding Danger! Nessie to add Chaos Dragon Levianeer to his hand. He used Omni Dragon Brotaur next to Link Summon Guardragon Pisty, then Link Summoned Guardragon Agarpain and used it to Special Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss before banishing three monsters to Special Summon Chaos Dragon Levianeer. He got rid of both of the Set copies of Salamangreat Circle on Ovalle’s field, before Link Summoning Triple Burst Dragon and overlaying for Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison. He used the effect of Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison before passing the turn.
Ovalle drew and could do nothing against the massive field!
Garcia takes the first Duel in impressive fashion, fighting through an Abyss Dweller and managing to clear his opponent’s entire field before Setting up a massive one of his own. One more game like that and Garcia will earn an invite to the World Championship yet again!

Duel Two:
Ovalle Normal Summoned Salamangreat Foxy, chose not to use its effect, then Link Summoned Salamangreat Balelynx. He activated its effect, which prompted Garcia to respond with Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, but Ovalle stopped it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. He activated Salamangreat Sanctuary, used Salamangreat Foxy to bring itself back by discarding Salamangreat Falco, then ditched Salamangreat Spinny from his hand to pump up hi smonster. He Special Summoned back Salamangreat Spinny, then used it and the other Level 3 to overlay for Salamangreat Miragestallio, using it to Special Summon Salamangreat Gazelle. Salamangreat Gazelle sent Salamangreat Jack Jaguar to the Graveyard before he Link Summoned Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, bringing back Salamangreat Jack Jaguar and then Salamangreat Falco by bouncing his own Salamangreat Gazelle. He overlayed both monsters for Abyss Dweller before ending his turn with no back row.
Garcia drew and Ovalle used Abyss Dweller. Garcia activated Danger! Tsuchinoko, and Ovalle managed to hit it out of his hand! Garcia then Normal Summoned Denko Sekka and crashed it into Abyss Dweller before ending his turn.
Ovalle drew and though for a moment, then used the effect of Salamangreat Jack Jaguar to Special Summon itself by shuffling back Salamangreat Foxy. He then used Salamangreat Falco to Special Summon itself by bouncing Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, before he Normal Summoned Flame Bufferlo and used it along with Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to summon another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He activated the effect of the Bufferlo, prompting Garcia to respond with Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, but he had another Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it. Ovalle then before Special Summoned Salamangreat Gazelle because of the Salamangreat he discarded, using it to send Salamangreat Rage to his Graveyard. He overlayed for Salamangreat Miragestallio and then Special Summoned Salamangreat Fowl from his Deck before moving to Battle Phase and declaring his attacks. He left Garcia with 3000 Life Points before Link Summoning another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and Xyz Summoning Abyss Dweller during Main Phase 2. He Set a card and ended his turn.
Garcia drew, and Ovalle activated both Abyss Dweller and Artifact Lancea! Garcia Normal Summoned Denko Sekka, then activated Danger! Tsuchinoko. Ovalle discarded Chaos Dragon Levianeer from Garcia’s hand and Danger! Tsuchinoko was summoned letting him draw a card. He activated Danger! Nessie next, Ovalle hit Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, and the Nessie came down while drawing another card. Garcia thought for a moment, but ultimately conceded!
A lucky hit on Danger! Tsuchinoko completely dismantles Garcia’s strategy, as Ovalle is able to lock him out with Abyss Dweller and Artifact Lancea. Just one Duel stands in the way of deciding our Central America WCQ Champion!

Duel Three
Garcia started off with Thunder Dragon, using it to add two more copies to his hand. He activated Danger! Nessie next, Ovalle hit a Thunder Dragon from Garcia’s hand, so Nessie came down and drew a card. He activated Danger! Tsuchinoko next, and Ovalle managed to snipe it from his hand! The Danger! Tsuchinoko Special Summoned itself and then he used it to Tribute Summon Thunder Dragonroar. He used both of his monsters to Link Summon Beat Cop from the Underworld, then activated the effect of Thunder Dragonroar to Special Summon Thunder Dragondark. He sent Thunder Dragondark to the Graveyard to Special Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus , then the effect of Thunder Dragondark triggered and let him add Thunder Dragonhawk to his hand. He activated Thunder Dragonhawk next, Special Summoning Thunder Dragonroar from his Graveyard. He used that to Special Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus , then overlayed both for Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison. He activated its effect but was hit with Effect Veiler! With no plays left, he passed the turn.
Ovalle drew and Normal Summoned Flame Bufferlo, using it to Link Summon Salamangreat Balelynx. Garcia used Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, Special Summoning it and sculpting his hand, while Ovalle searched for Salamangreat Balelynx and activated the Bufferlo’s effect to discard a Salamangreat Spinny and draw some cards. He Special Summoned Salamangreat Gazelle because a Salamangreat hit the Graveyard, then used the effect of Salamangreat Gazelle to send Salamangreat Rage to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Salamangreat Spinny next, then overlayed for Salamangreat Miragestallio and used it to Special Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar. Ovalle thought for a moment before using Salamangreat Miragestallio and Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to Link Summon another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf, but had the effect of his Salamangreat Miragestallio negated by Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay. He Link Summoned another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf and then brought back Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, using the Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to add back Salamangreat Gazelle and Salamangreat Rage. He Link Summoned Salamangreat Heatleo next, then activate Salamangreat Sanctuary and Reincarnation Link Summoned another Salamangreat Heatleo. He used its effect to reduce the attack of Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, then destroyed it by battle and left Garcia with 5700 Life Points. He moved to Main Phase 2, Set two cards, and ended his turn.
Garcia drew and moved through his phases, but when he activated Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison his opponent negated it with Infinite Impermanence. Garcia banished two DARKs and a LIGHT from his Graveyard to Special Summon Chaos Dragon Levianeer, then triggered all of his Thunder Dragons along with Chaos Dragon Levianeer. Ovalle responded with Salamangreat Rage, destroying all three of Garcia’s monsters. Garcia Special Summoned Thunder Dragondark, added Thunder Dragonduo, and got to sculpt his hand thanks to Thunder Dragonroar, Thunder Dragondark and Thunder Dragonhawk respectively, then activated Sekka’s Light to draw two cards, then banished it to shuffle back Danger! Mothman and draw another. He banished two monsters from his Graveyard for Thunder Dragonduo next, then Danger! Tsuchinoko hit the field along with Chaos Dragon Levianeer. He used all of his monsters to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread and Ovalle immediately picked up his hand and activated both Effect Veiler and Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay in response! Garcia pressed on, Special Summoning White Dragon Wyverburster from his hand and used it to Link Summon Guardragon Elpy. He used the effect of White Dragon Wyverburster to add Black Dragon Collapserpent to his hand, then Special Summoned it. He used it to Link Summon Guardragon Pisty, searching White Dragon Wyverburster from the Black Dragon Collapserpent. He used the effect of his Guardragon Elpy to Special Summon Omni Dragon Brotaur, then sued Omni Dragon Brotaur to add Chaos Dragon Levianeer by discarding White Dragon Wyverburster. He used Saryuja Skull Dread and Omni Dragon Brotaur to Link Summon Guardragon Agarpain, then used its effect to Special Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss. He used all three of his Guardragons to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread, then banished those same three monsters for Chaos Dragon Levianeer. He moved to Battle Phase, declared an attack with Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss over Salamangreat Heatleo, Saryuja Skull Dread over Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, and finally directly with Chaos Dragon Levianeer leaving Ovalle with 3400 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, he used Saryuja Skull Dread and Chaos Dragon Levianeer to Link Summon Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres and end his turn.
Ovalle drew to three cards and Normal Summoned Salamangreat Falco. This prompted Garcia to use his Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres to bounce it away and Special Summon Eclipse Wyvern from his Deck. He activated Salamangreat Spinny, then Special Summoned Salamangreat Gazelle and sent Salamangreat Foxy to the Graveyard. He activated Salamangreat Foxy, discarding Salamangreat Falco, to Special Summon it. Salamangreat Falco triggered letting him Set Salamangreat Rage before he Link Summoned Salamangreat Balelynx with Salamangreat Foxy. He shuffled back a Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to Special Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, then used both monsters to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He activated Salamangreat Spinny next to Special Summon itself, then added back Salamangreat Spinny thanks to Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. Salamangreat Miragestallio came down next, and he moved to Battle Phase to attack over Eclipse Wyvern. This triggered both its effect along with Omni Dragon Brotaur, banishing Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair while Omni Dragon Brotaur brought itself back. Ovalle attack with Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf over Omni Dragon Brotaur, then in Main Phase 2 Link Summoned another Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to bounce away the Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss.
Garcia drew and was forced to pass his turn!
Ovalle shuffled back Salamangreat Miragestallio to Special Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar, then triggered the effect of Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. He activated Salamangreat Circle for Salamangreat Spinny, then Normal Summoned Salamangreat Jack Jaguar and ditched Salamangreat Spinny to Special Summon Salamangreat Gazelle. He brought back Salamangreat Spinny and attacked with everything for game!
Angel Fernando Ovalle Rivera fights tooth and nail with his Salamangreat Deck to claim the 2019 Central America WCQ as his own!
