Round 10 Feature Match: Galileo De Obaldia Soza vs. Luke Parkes

Welcome to the final Swiss Round of YCS Knoxville! For this final Feature Match of the Swiss Rounds, we have former Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Champion Galileo De Obaldia Soza from Panama Dueling against Luke Parkes from Sheffield. De Obaldia is using a Sky Striker Deck featuring Mystic Mine and Metaverse, whereas Parkes is using the Orcust-based Deck we saw in yesterday’s Feature Match. These two players are at Table 1, so they’re two of the best Duelists that YCS Knoxville has to offer. It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Parkes started off Duel 1 by Summoning Dark Grepher and using its effect to discard Orcust Knightmare and send Orcust Harp Horror from his Deck to his Graveyard.

He banished Harp Horror from his Graveyard to Special Summon Orcust Cymbal Skeleton from his Deck and then sent Grepher and Cymbal Skeleton to the Graveyard to Link Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton. He banished Cymbal Skeleton from his Graveyard to Special Summon Orcust Knightmare from his Graveyard and then used Galatea’s effect to return a banished Cymbal Skeleton to his Deck and Set Orcust Crescendo from his Deck. He Xyz Summoned Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star, used its effect to attach an extra Xyz Material, and then sent Knightmare and Dingirsu to the Graveyard to Link Summon a Galatea.

De Obaldia opened up with Foolish Burial Goods, Sky Striker Ace – Raye, Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones, Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole, and 2 copies of Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!. He activated Multirole and Parkes flipped Crescendo to banish it. Next, De Obaldia activated Foolish Burial Goods to send Metalfoes Fusion from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Hornet Drones to Special Summon a Sky Striker Ace Token to the field and then used the Token to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kaina. He activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! next, using its effect to add Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole to his hand and draw a Metaverse. He then used Kaina as a Link Material to Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari, and used Kagari’s effect to return Engage to his hand. He activated Multirole and then used Engage to add Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon from his Deck to his hand and draw a card. He used another Engage next, this time adding Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to his hand and drawing another card. He activated Shark Cannon to banish Harp Horror from Parkes’s Graveyard and then attacked Galatea with Kagari to destroy it. In Main Phase 2, he shuffled Metalfoes Fusion from his Graveyard into his Deck to draw a card. He used Kagari to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku and then Set Widow Anchor and Metaverse. In the End Phase, he Set Shark Cannon from his Graveyard with Multirole and added another Shark Cannon to his hand with Shizuku. He used the Shark Cannon to banish Orcust Knightmare from Parkes’s Graveyard.

Parkes used Terraforming to add Trickstar Light Stage to his hand and activated it to add Trickstar Candina to his hand. He used Light Stage’s effect to pin down a Shark Cannon on De Obaldia’s field and then used Twin Twisters to target Metaverse and Widow Anchor. De Obaldia Chained Metaverse to play Mystic Mine from his Deck and Parkes conceded.

Duel Two

Parkes started off Duel 2 by activating Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to add Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones from his Deck to his hand and then used Hornet Drones to Special Summon a Token to the field. He used the Token to Link Summon Kagari and used Kagari to return Hornet Drones to his hand. He activated Hornet Drones to Special Summon another Token and then Normal Summoned Trickstar Candina and used its effect to add Trickstar Light Stage from his Deck to his hand. He activated Light Stage to add Trickstar Corobane to his hand and then Link Summoned Knightmare Cerberus. He used the Cerberus to Link Summon Knightmare Mermaid and activated its effect. De Obaldia discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to try to negate its effect; Parkes Chained Called by the Grave to banish the Effect Veiler; and De Obaldia Chained Infinite Impermanence to negate the effect of the Mermaid! Parkes passed his turn.

De Obaldia drew a card and then had Mystical Space Typhoon, Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners!, Artifact Lancea, and Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole.

He activated Afterburners to destroy Candina and then passed.

Parkes drew a card and passed.

De Obaldia drew Lancea and passed.

Parkes activated Terraforming to add Black Garden to his hand and activated it. He Summoned Dark Grepher and used its effect to discard Cymbal Skeleton and send Orcust Knightmare to the Graveyard, prompting De Obaldia to Tribute Lancea from his hand to activate its effect. Parkes ended his turn.

De Obaldia drew Widow Anchor. He activated Multirole and used its effect to send his Token to the Graveyard. Then he Set Widow Anchor and Mystical Space Typhoon.

Parkes drew a card and De Obaldia Tributed another Lancea from his hand. Parkes activated Reinforcement of the Army to add Armageddon Knight to his hand and attacked directly with Dark Grepher for 700 points of damage. He Summoned Armageddon Knight in Main Phase 2 and activated its effect to send Harp Horror from his Deck to his Graveyard and Special Summon a Rose Token to De Obaldia’s field. Next, he Link Summoned Knightmare Phoenix, giving De Obaldia another Token, and used Knightmare Phoenix’s effect to destroy Multirole.

De Obaldia drew another Mystical Space Typhoon on his next turn and conceded, unable to make any effective plays.

De Obaldia chose to go second in Duel 3.

Duel Three

Parkes started off the Duel by activating Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones to Special Summon a Sky Striker Ace Token to the field. He used the Token to Link Summon Kagari and then used Kagari’s effect to return Hornet Drones to his hand. He activated it to Special Summon another Token and then Link Summoned Knightmare Cerberus. He used Cerberus to Link Summon Mermaid and then discarded Engage to activate Mermaid’s effect. De Obaldia discarded Effect Veiler from his hand to negate the Mermaid’s effect! Parkes passed his turn with only a Mermaid on his field!

De Obaldia drew a card and then had Sky Striker Ace – Raye, Terraforming, Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon, Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor, and Mystical Space Typhoon in his hand. He activated Terraforming to add Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero to his hand then activated it. He Summoned Raye and used Area Zero to target Raye. He Chained Raye’s effect to Special Summon Sky Striker Ace – Hayate and then added Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from the top of his Deck to his hand with Area Zero’s effect. Hayate attacked and destroyed Knightmare Mermaid, and Hayate’s effect send Area Zero from his Deck to his Graveyard. He activated Engage and Chained Mystical Space Typhoon to send Engage to the Graveyard to put 3 Spells into his Graveyard when the Engage resolved. He added Multirole to his hand and drew Upstart Goblin. He activated Upstart to draw Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! from his Deck and then used Hayate to Link Summon Kagari. He used Kagari’s effect to return Engage to his hand, and then activated Multirole followed by Engage. He added Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor from his Deck to his hand with Engage’s effect and then drew Effect Veiler. He used Kagari to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku and then Set 3 cards to his back row before passing his turn. In his End Phase, he Set Engage from his Graveyard with Multirole and added Engage from his Deck to his hand with Shizuku’s effect.

Parkes drew a card and conceded, unable and unwilling to fight through De Obaldia’s field.
