We featured Jose Carlo Carrillo Toscano on Friday during the WQP Playoff, and after a disappointing finish there, he chose to change Decks and managed to go undefeated in Swiss with a perfect 10-0 record! His opponent is Aldo Augosto Montalvan Izquierdo, and they will be facing off in a Danger! Thunder Dragon mirror match in the Top 64.

Carrillo’s Deck change has paid off so far, will his success continue in the Top Cut?

Carrillo won the roll and chose to go first.

Duel One:

Carrillo began with Danger! Bigfoot, his opponent hunted for it but found Omni Dragon Brotaur so it was discarded, and Danger! Bigfoot Special Summoned itself and Carrillo drew a card. He followed that up with Danger! Nessie, Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay was discarded, and Danger! Nessie hit the field and Carrillo drew another card. Next up, Danger! Tsuchinoko was activated and Montalvan discarded Thunder Dragonroar from Carrillo’s hand, so Danger! Tsuchinoko was Special Summoned and Carrillo drew another card. He followed it up with White Dragon Wyverburster, banishing Thunder Dragonroar, and used the effect of Thunder Dragonroar to Special Summon Thunder Dragondark. He used Dragondark and Wyverburster to Link Summon Beat Cop from the Underworld, and then searched a copy of Black Dragon Collapserpent when White Dragon Wyverburster hit the Graveyard. He Link Summoned Guardragon Elpy next and then Special Summoned Black Dragon Collapserpent before Link Summoning Guardragon Pisty with it. He activated the effect of Guardragon Elpy, and Special Summoned Eclypse Wyvern. He Link Summoned Triple Burst Dragon next using Beat Cop from the Underworld and Eclipse Wyvern, triggering the effect of Eclipse Wyvern to banish Chaos Emperor, Dragon of Armageddon from his Deck. He Special Summoned Omni Dragon Brotaur next, and used its effect to discard White Dragon Wyverburster and add Chaos Dragon Levianeer to his hand. He used Triple Burst Dragon along with Omni Dragon Brotaur to Link Summon Guardragon Agarpain, then used his Guardragon’s effect to Special Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss from his Extra Deck. Next, he used all of his Guardragons to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread to sculpt his hand. He Special Summoned Chaos Dragon Levianeer next, banishing Eclipse Wyvern, Black Dragon Collapserpent, and Guardragon Pisty and he added Chaos Emperor, Dragon of Armageddon to his hand via Eclipse Wyvern. He put the Chaos Emperor into his Pendulum Zone, and then used it to add back Eclipse Wyvern by destroying itself. He discarded Thunder Dragonhawk next to Special Summon Thunder Dragonroar, and in response Montalvan used Thunder Dragondark to add another copy to his hand. He used the Thunder Dragonroar to Special Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus , then Special Summoned Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair from his hand because his Thunder Dragon was tributed. Next he overlayed his Chaos Dragon Levianeer and Danger! Bigfoot for Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy , before using Saryuja Skull Dread to Special Summon Eclipse Wyvern from his hand. He used the Eclipse Wyvern and Saryuja Skull Dread to Link Summon Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres, triggering the Eclipse Wyvern again to banish Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay. He Special Summoned Chaos Emperor, Dragon of Armageddon from his hand along with Chaos Dragon Levianeer, banishing monsters that included Eclipse Wyvern so he could add Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay to his hand. The effect of Chaos Dragon Levianeer activated, shuffling a random card form his opponent’s hand back into the Deck. After that, he overlayed for Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison and activated its effect, preventing its destruction until the next turn as well as locking out both players from Special Summoning from the Graveyard!

Carrillo pulls off the most impressive combo we’ve seen all tournament! Montalvan’s back is against the wall now, as he needs to the next two Duels to stay in the tournament.

Duel Two:

Montalvan began with Danger! Tsuchinoko, using it to randomly discard Thunder Dragonroar, and then Special Summoned Danger! Tsuchinoko and drew a card. He activated Sekka’s Light next to draw a couple more cards, before banishing Thunder Dragonroar to Special Summon White Dragon Wyverburster from his hand. The Thunder Dragonroar triggered and Montalvan Special Summoned Thunder Dragondark, then he activated Sekka’s Light to shuffle back a card from his hand to draw another card. He activated Danger! Jackalope next, and Carrillo hunted for it but found Thunder Dragondark instead. The Danger! Jackalope Special Summoned itself and Montalvan drew another card before activating Thunder Dragon to add two more copies to his hand. He used all of his monsters to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread, adding Black Dragon Collapserpent and Thunder Dragonhawk to his hand thanks to the materials, before Saryuja Skull Dread let him sculpt his hand further! He activated Saryuja Skull Dread next, and Special Summoned Batteryman Solar from his hand. He activated Thunder Dragonhawk to Special Summon Thunder Dragonroar, then tributed it to Special Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus. This triggered the Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair in his hand so he could Special Summon it, then Special Summoned Black Dragon Collapserpent and used it to Link Summon Guardragon Pisty. In response, Carrillo activated Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay and tried to find an answer on top of his Deck. Montalvan resolved the effect of the Black Dragon Collapserpent he used as a material to add White Dragon Wyverburster, and followed it up with the effect of Guardragon Pisty to Special Summon Omni Dragon Brotaur from his Deck. He discarded Thunder Dragon to add Chaos Dragon Levianeer to his hand, then used Omni Dragon Brotaur and Saryuja Skull Dread to Link Summon Guardragon Agarpain. He activated the effect of Guardragon Agarpain, prompting Carrillo to respond with Artifact Lancea, to Special Summon Crystal Wing Syncrho Dragon from his Extra Deck.  He then Link Summoned Saryuja Skull Dread using his Guardragon Pisty, Batteryman Solar, and Guardragon Agarpain and used the effect of Saryuja Skull Dread to Special Summon Thunder Dragon. He activated Danger! Jackalope next, ditching a random card to Special Summon it and draw another card, before using Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair at the cost of his Danger! Jackalope to return a card from Carrillo’s hand to the top of the Deck. After that, discarded a Danger! Jackalope to its own effect to Special Summon Danger! Bigfoot from his Deck so he could overlay Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy , and followed that up with a Link Summon of Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres using Darkest Diabolos, Lord of the Lair and Saryuja Skull Dread!

Carrillo drew and announced through his phases, he Normal Summoned Batteryman Solar and sent Thunder Dragonroar to the Graveyard with its effect. At resolution, Montalvan activated Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres to tribute itself and bounce away the Batteryman, as well as Special Summon Amorphage Goliath from his Deck! Carrillo pressed onward with the effect of Thunder Dragonhawk to try to Special Summon Thunder Dragonroar, but Montalvan negated it with Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon! Carrillo used Electric Virus next to steal Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy, then followed that up with an unimpeded Sekka’s Light to draw two more cards. He Special Summoned Chaos Emperor, Dragon of Armageddon next, banishing Artifact Lancea and Thunder Dragonroar, and triggered the Thunder Dragonroar he banished to Special Summon Thunder Dragondark. He moved to Battle Phase and declared an attack with Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy over Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, then in Main Phase 2 used everything but Thunder Dragondark to Link Summon Knightmare Unicorn! He used its effect, discarding Batteryman Solar, to spin away the opposing Thunder Dragon Colossus and clear Montalvan’s field! He used his remaining two monsters to Link Summon Beat Cop from the Underworld, then Special Summoned Black Dragon Collapserpent and used it to Link Summon Guardragon Pisty. He Special Summoned White Dragon Wyverburster next, using it to Link Summon Guardragon Elpy. He activated the Guardragon to Special Summon Omni Dragon Brotaur, then used its effect to ditch Black Dragon Collapserpent from his hand and add Chaos Dragon Levianeer. Next he Link Summoned Triple Burst Dragon and followed it up with Guardragon Agarpain, using it to Special Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss from his Extra Deck. He Special Summoned Chaos Dragon Levianeer and used its effect to shuffle back a card from Montalvan’s hand, leaving him with no cards in hand or on the field! He used all of his monsters to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread next and sculpted his hand. He used the effect of Saryuja Skull Dread to Special Summon Eclipse Wyvern from his hand, then used it along with Saryuja Skull Dread to Link Summon Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres. This triggered the effect of Eclipse Wyvern to banish Chaos Emperor, Dragon of Armageddon, then he followed that up with Thunder Dragonduo banishing Eclipse Wyvern so he could add back Chaos Emperor, Dragon of Armageddon. He tributed Thunder Dragonduo to Special Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus  before ending his turn!

Montalvan drew a Danger! Chupacabra and activated it to discard itself and Special Summon Danger! Bigfoot, but once it was bounced with Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres and Carrillo Special Summoned Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, Montalvan conceded!

After an incredible comeback, Jose Carlo Carrillo Toscano takes victory in the Top 64 and remains undefeated as he enters the Top 32!
