Round 2 Feature Match: Yishan McNabb vs. Christopher Young

August 24th, 2019

Welcome to Round 2 of YCS Portland! Yishan McNabb, from Alameda, CA, is back again. We’ve seen his Gren Maju Da Eiza strategy at many YCS events in recent times, but this time he’s done something so crazy we just had to show you. He’s rocking the Golden Castle of Stromberg! He uses the Golden Castle to banish his own cards, as well as to Special Summon Hexe Trude for big damage. Pair that with Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher for more banishing, and he’s got a solid Rank 8 avenue as well. His opponent is Christopher Young, from nearby Gladstone, OR. Young is playing a HERO strategy, utilizing some of the best Elemental, Destiny, Masked, Vision, and Xtra HERO cards. Will the superhero teamup triumph, or will the Golden Castle’s walls prove insurmountable?

Duel 1

McNabb won the dice roll and chose to play second. Young began with A Hero Lives! He paid half his Life Points to Special Summon Elemental HERO Stratos from his Deck, then used Stratos to add Elemental HERO Shadow Mist to his hand. He discarded Shadow Mist to Special Summon Vision HERO Faris, which placed Vision HERO Increase in his Spell & Trap Card Zone. He used the effect of Increase, tributing Faris. He Special Summoned Increase and Vision HERO Vyon. He used Vyon’s effect, banishing Shadow Mist to add Polymerization to his hand. He used Increase and Stratos to Link Summon Xtra HERO Cross Crusader! He Normal Summoned Destiny HERO – Disk Commander, then used Vyon and Cross Crusader to play Xtra HERO Dread Decimator. He used Mask Change on Disk Commander, playing out Masked HERO Dark Law, with Dread Decimator pointing to it to increase its ATK.

McNabb had two Dinowrestler Pankratops, Glife the Phantom Bird, Monster Reborn, Terraforming, and Danger! Thunderbird!. He started with a Special Summoned Pankratops, destroying Dark Law with its effect. He used Terraforming next, adding Golden Castle of Stromberg to his hand. He played it and used its effect to Special Summon Hexe Trude, which destroyed Dread Decimator. He played Monster Reborn to take Dread Decimator! Since Young had halved his Life Points with A Hero Lives, McNabb was able to finish him off right here and now!

Duel 2

McNabb started with Eater of Millions, two Pot of Desires, Gren Maju Da Eiza, and Trade-In. He played Pot of Desires to draw Dinowrestler Pankratops and another Gren Maju Da Eiza. He Set Gren Maju, currently boasting 4000 DEF.

Young played Polymerization, using Vyon and Destiny HERO – Plasma to Fusion Summon Destiny HERO – Dangerous. He played Foolish Burial, sending Shadow Mist to the Graveyard, which activated its effect to add Stratos to his hand. He Normal Summoned it to add Elemental HERO Honest Neos to his hand. He Set two cards in his back row, leaving only Honest Neos in his hand. Dangerous attacked McNabb’s Gren Maju Da Eiza. Young decided to take 2000 damage rather than use Honest Neos just yet.

McNabb drew Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher. He Special Summoned Pankratops and tributed it to destroy a Set Mask Change. He played Trade-In, discarding Gizmek to draw Golden Castle of Stromberg and another Trade-In. He activated Golden Castle, which Special Summoned Hexe Trude. Hexe Trude targeted Young’s remaining back row card, and and Young flipped it: a second Mask Change. He used it to tag out Dangerous for Masked HERO Anki. Then, McNabb banished eight cards from his Deck to Special Summon Gizmek Orochi from his Graveyard! He Special Summoned Eater of Millions next, banishing eight cards from his Extra Deck! He switched Gren Maju Da Eiza to Attack Position and moved to the Battle Phase. Eater of Millions attacked Anki and used its effect to banish Anki face-down. Gren Maju Da Eiza, now with 10400 ATK, attacked Stratos. Young used Honest Neos to reduce the damage, but it wasn’t enough to survive McNabb’s onslaught!

Yishan McNabb is victorious with his insane Golden Castle of Stromberg strategy!
