UDS Invitational Indianapolis, IN: Round 3 Feature Match – Johne Smith vs. Hisam Jawhari
Round 3 of the UDS Invitational – Summer 2019 in Indianapolis, Indiana is underway! Johne Smith from West Lafayette, Indiana is Dueling against Hisam Jawhari from Metairie, Louisiana in this Round 3 Feature Match! Both Duelists are currently 2-0 in the tournament. Jawhari is using a Thunder Dragon Deck similar to those that dominated in the previous Advanced Format, while Smith is using a brand-new Deck featuring Gren Maju Da Eiza. Smith’s Deck is built around the new Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher from Rising Rampage! Gizmek Orochi banishes cards face-down at rapid speed, allowing Gren Maju Da Eiza’s Attack Points to rise to incredible heights for a quick win. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Smith opened up Duel 1 with Solemn Strike, Infinite Impermanence, Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay, Compulsory Evacuation Device, and Twin Twisters.
He Set all 3 of his Trap Cards and then passed his turn.
Jawhari discarded Thunder Dragon from his hand to activate its effect and add 2 more copies from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned Crusadia Maximus and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Crusadia Magius. Smith Special Summoned Phantazmay from his hand. He drew Eater of Millions and Gren Maju Da Eiza with its effect and returned Twin Twisters to his Deck. Next, Smith flipped Compulsory Evacuation Device to return Magius to the Extra Deck. Jawhari activated the effect of Danger! Nessie! in his hand next, and randomly discarded Thunder Dragon to Special Summon Nessie to the field and draw a card. Then, he activated Sekka’s Light to draw 2 cards. He activated the effect of a Danger! Tsuchinoko!? in his hand next, and discarded Crusadia Arboria at random to Special Summon Tsuchinoko and draw a card. He sent Nessie and Tsuchinoko to the Graveyard to the Graveyard to try to Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix, and Smith flipped Solemn Strike and gave up 1500 Life Points to negate its Summon. Next, Jawhari banished 2 LIGHT monsters and a DARK monster from his Graveyard to Summon Chaos Dragon Levianeer. He activated its effect to try to clear Smith’s field, but Smith flipped Infinite Impermanence to negate its effect. Next, he banished Sekka’s Light from his Graveyard to shuffle a Thunder Dragon in his hand back into his Deck and draw a new card. Then, he discarded Thunder Dragonhawk from his hand to Special Summon Thunder Dragon from his Graveyard and activated the effect of a Danger! Mothman! in his hand. He discarded the Mothman and activated its effect, allowing both Duelists to draw a card and discard a card. Smith drew and discarded Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher. Jawhari draw a card and discarded Thunder Dragondark. Jawhari banished 3 monsters including Thunder Dragondark from his Graveyard to Special Summon another Levianeer and then Special Summoned Thunder Dragonduo. He attacked Phantazmay with Dragonduo to destroy it, and then used his Dragonduo’s effect to add Thunder Dragondark to his hand. Thunder Dragon attacked directly next, and Smith used the effect of the Gizmek in his Graveyard to Special Summon it back to the field. Levianeer attacked and destroyed Gizmek. In Main Phase 2, Jawhari sent both Levianeers to the Graveyard to Link Summon Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres and then Tributed Dragonduo to Summon Thunder Dragon Colossus linked to it.
Smith drew Crackdown and then banished 5 cards from his Extra Deck face-down to Summon Eater of Millions. Next, he banished 8 more cards from the top of his Deck to Special Summon Gizmek back to the field! Then, with 21 of his cards banished from the Duel, he Normal Summoned Gren Maju Da Eiza! Since it gained 400 ATK for each banished card, its total ATK was 8400! He entered his Battle Phase and then attacked the Hieratic Seal with Gren Maju Da Eiza. Jawhari Tributed the Hieratic Seal to return Eater of Millions to Smith’s hand and then used his Seal’s effect to Special Summon Omni Dragon Brotaur from his Deck in Defense Position. He discarded Thunder Dragondark from his hand to add Levianeer from his Deck to his hand with Brotaur’s effect. Next, Gren Maju attacked and destroyed Thunder Dragon, dropping Jawhari down to 1200 Life Points. Gizmek attacked and destroyed Brotaur next, and Smith Set Crackdown in Main Phase 2. He banished 5 more cards from his Extra Deck to Summon Eater of Millions back to the field and then sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Linkuriboh.
Jawhari banished Thunder Dragon, Thunder Dragondark, and Levianeer from his Graveyard to Special Summon another Levianeer and used the effects of Thunder Dragondark and Levianeer. He added a Thunder Dragon from his Deck to his hand with the effect of the Dragondark and destroyed Gizmek and Crackdown with Levianeer. Next, Jawhari Summoned a Crusadia monster and used it to Link Summon Crusadia Magius. He Special Summoned a Danger! Jackalope!? from his hand next, and after a flurry of plays, built a field of Borrelsword Dragon, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss, and Crusadia Arboria. He attacked Linkuriboh with Arboria, prompting Smith to use Linkuriboh’s effect, and then Borrelsword Dragon attacked Gren Maju, using its effect to steal half of Gren Maju’s Attack Points. Smith then conceded with 3100 Life Points remaining, unable to survive the turn even if he would use the effect of his Gizmek.

Duel Two
Smith chose for Jawhari to go first in Duel.
Jawhari started his first turn by discarding Thunder Dragon to add 2 more copies of it to his hand.
He ended his turn with no other play. In the End Phase, Smith banished 8 cards from the top of his Deck to Special Summon Gizmek from his hand in Attack Position.
Smith drew a card and then had Dark Hole, Kumongous, the Sticky String Kaiju, Solemn Strike, and 2 copies of Gren Maju Da Eiza. He Summoned a Gren Maju Da Eiza with 3200 ATK and attacked directly with both monsters, dropping Jawhari down to 2350 Life Points. He Set Solemn Strike before ending his turn.
Jawhari activated Twin Twisters and discarded a Thunder Dragon to destroy Solemn Strike. Then, he Summoned Crusadia Maximus and sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Magius. He activated the effect of Danger! Tsuchinoko!? in his hand and discarded Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon at random to Special Summon Tsuchinoko and draw a card. He used Magius’s effect to add Crusadia Draco to his hand and then Link Summoned PSY-Framelord Lambda by sending both of his monsters to the Graveyard. He Special Summoned Draco from his hand and added Maximus to his hand with Draco’s effect. He banished Tsuchinoko from his Graveyard to Special Summon White Dragon Wyverburster from his hand next, and then sent Draco to the Graveyard to Link Summon Guardragon Elpy. He sent Wyverburster to the Graveyard to Link Summon Guardragon Pisty and added Black Dragon Collapserpent to his hand with Wyverburster’s effect. He used Pisty’s effect to Special Summon Red-Eyes back to his field and used its effect to Special Summon Draco. He Link Summoned Triple Burst Dragon and then used Elpy’s effect to Special Summon Brotaur from his Deck. He used its effect to discard Destrudo the Lost Dragon’s Frisson and add a Chaos Dragon Levianeer from his Deck to his hand. Next, he sent Triple Burst Dragon and Brotaur to the Graveyard to Link Summon Guardragon Agarpain and used Agarpain’s effect to Special Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss from his Extra Deck. Next, he sent Elpy, Pisty, and Agarpain to the Graveyard to Link Summon Borrelsword Dragon. He Special Summoned Collapserpent from his hand by banishing Wyverburster from his Graveyard and then attacked Gizmek with Borrelsword, using Borrelsword’s effect to steal half of its ATK, bringing Borrelsword up to 4225 ATK. Borrelsword attacked Gren Maju Da Eiza next, and Hot Red negated Gren Maju Da Eiza’s effect to drop its ATK down to 0! Smith extended the handshake, conceding after being a few Attack Points short of winning the Duel on his first turn.
