UDS Invitational Indianapolis, IN: Top 4 Deck Profile – David Flores’s Thunder Dragons

Flores’s Deck is about as dedicated to the Thunder Dragon theme as a Deck can be. He runs a whopping 17 Thunder Dragon monsters in his Main Deck, plus 2 copies of Thunder Dragon Fusion. He also maxes out on Thunder Dragon Colossus and Thunder Dragon Titan in his Extra Deck, with 3 copies of each.
As you saw in Flores’s Top 8 Feature Match and Finals Feature Match, Flores’s Deck strives to Summon multiple copies of Colossus and Titan to the field. By doing so, he can wipe out an opponent in a single turn, or build a wall of monsters that his opponent will have difficulty penetrating. Aloof Lupine, Gold Sarcophagus, and Allure of Darkness help Flores banish his Thunder Dragon monsters so that he can activate their effects to get the cards he needs or flood the field with monsters. Batteryman Solar also helps him flood the field with monsters that he can use for Link Summoning, and assists him in sending cards from his Deck to his Graveyard where he can capitalize on them.
Considering their incredible power, Thunder Dragon Colossus and Thunder Dragon Titan are remarkably easy to Summon. Colossus can be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by Tributing a Thunder non-Fusion monster during the turn you activate the effect of a Thunder monster in your hand; and Titan can be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by banishing a Thunder Fusion Monster from your field and a Thunder Monster from your hand. Both monsters can also be Summoned with the activation of a Thunder Dragon Fusion, and both have effects that allow them to protect themselves and interfere with an opponent’s field or plays. Thunder Dragon Colossus and Thunder Dragon Titan are at the heart of Flores’s Deck.
Expect Thunder Dragon Decks similar to Flores’s Deck to be a top contender in the new Advanced Format!
