Welcome to the Ultimate Duelist Series Summer Invitational 2019!

August 17th, 2019

275 Duelists have cashed in their Ultimate Duelist Series (UDS) Points to compete this weekend and take their shot at winning the Championship Belt and earning the title of “Ultimate Duelist” here in Indianapolis, Indiana! As is always the case at an Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational, the competition will be fierce, as only the best Duelists – those who earned at least 100 UDS points from playing in various Tier 2 or higher events – are permitted to compete.

This weekend’s tournament will be especially challenging to many of the competitors. A new Forbidden & Limited List for the Advanced Format took effect on July 15th, 2019, and there haven’t been any large Regional Qualifiers or Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series events since this latest Forbidden & Limited List took place. That makes this weekend’s tournament the largest one yet under the current Forbidden & Limited List, and leaves many of this weekend’s competitors uncertain of what to expect from their opponents’ Decks.

The new Forbidden & Limited List dealt a big hit to all of the most popular Decks of the previous Advanced Format, including Sky Strikers, Danger! Decks, Orcusts, Altergeists, and Salamangreats, but left all of those Decks with enough cards to remain relevant to competitive Dueling. Will one of those Decks reign supreme this weekend, or will a new strategy emerge in the naming of this weekend’s Ultimate Duelist?

Complicating this weekend’s tournament even more, the Rising Rampage booster set was released on July 26th, 2019; and like the newest Forbidden & Limited List for the Advanced Format, Duelists have not yet had the opportunity to use Rising Rampage cards in major Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series or Regional Qualifier events. In addition, Structure Deck: Rokket Revolt was just released yesterday, adding even more new cards to the card pool for this weekend’s tournament. Rising Rampage contains many cards that Duelists anticipate will have a major impact on competitive Dueling, like Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess and Get Out!, while the new Structure Deck gives a big boost to the Rokket theme and introduces cool new Link Monsters like Topologic Zeroboros.

This weekend’s competitors will need to display their best Dueling Skills in order to win the UDS Championship Belt (along with the many perks associated with it) and other incredible prizes. Follow the tournament coverage this weekend to see which competitor becomes the Ultimate Duelist and which Decks make it to the Finals!
