Welcome to Round 10!  This is the final round of Swiss before the cut to the Top 32!  Erick Villanueva Priego from Veracruz is a YCS Champion and in 2019 had the most amount of World Qualifying Points in Central America with 692 points and the 2^nd most in the world behind Dominic Couch from the United States with 714.  He has Sky Striker and he’s up against Carlos Ramon Herrera Hernandez from Matamoros, Tamaulipas with Endymion Pendulum.  This could be the end for one of these Duelists.  A win will secure a Top 32 appearance while a loss will put the Duelist at risk for elimination.  It’s time to Duel!

Duel 1

Herrera Hernandez won the roll and elected to go first.  Herrera Hernandez started off with Foolish Burial to send Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm.  Herrera Hernandez tried to use Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm’s effect but Villanueva Priego chained D.D. Crow to banish Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm!  Herrera Hernandez then activated Pot of Desires, banishing the Top 10 cards but Villanueva Priego negated it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring!  He passed playing nothing else.

Villanueva Priego activated Reinforcement of the Army to add Sky Striker Ace – Raye from his Deck to his hand.  He then Normal Summoned Sky Striker Ace – Raye and attacked directly for 1500, putting Herrera Hernandez at 6500 LP.  Sky Striker Ace – Raye tagged out for Sky Striker Ace – Hayate which connected for another 1500, leaving Herrera Hernandez at 5000 LP.  Hayate’s effect let Villanueva Priego send Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Deck to the Graveyard.  In Main Phase 2, Sky Striker Ace – Hayate swapped out for Sky Striker Ace – Kagari which brought back Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!.  Sky Striker Ace – Kagari swapped for Shizuku whose End Phase effect let Villanueva Priego add another Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Deck to his hand.

Herrera Hernandez activated Harmonizing Magician and Mythical Beast Jackal King into the Pendulum Zones.  He then Pendulum Summoned Aether, the Evil Empowering Dragon using its effect to banish Shizuku whose effect brought Sky Striker Ace – Raye back to the field form the Graveyard.  Herrera Hernandez then Normal Summoned Timegazer Magician.  Both of Herrera Hernandez’s monsters went to the Extra Deck to Link Summon Heavymetalfoes Electrumite whose effect dumped Oafdragon Magician form the Deck to the Extra Deck.  Heavymetalfoes Electrumite’s other effect destroyed Mythical Beast Jackal King and added Oafdragon Magician from the Extra Deck back to his hand.  Villanueva Priego negated Heavymetalfoes Electrumite’s draw effect with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.  Heavymetalfoes Electrumite attacked over Sky Striker Ace – Raye but Villanueva Priego traded the Sky Striker Ace – Raye for Sky Striker Ace – Kaina whose effect prevented Heavymetalfoes Electrumite from attacking until the end of the turn.

Villanueva Priego swapped out Sky Striker Ace – Kaina for Sky Striker Ace – Hayate.  Sky Striker Ace – Hayate attacked directly and sent Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero from Villanueva Priego’s Deck to the Graveyard.  In the Battle Phase, Villanueva Priego used Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to steal Heavymetalfoes Electrumite and attacked directly with the stolen Link Monster.  In Main Phase 2, Sky Striker Ace – Hayate swapped for Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku, then both Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku and Heavymetalfoes Electrumite were sent to Link Summon Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior!  Villanueva Priego activated Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! to add Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole.  A flurry of plays later ended with this field:

In Herrera Hernandez’s Draw phase, Villanueva Priego swapped Sky Striker Ace – Raye for Sky Striker Ace – Kagari.   Sky Striker Ace – Kagari’s effect added back Sky Striker Mecharmory – Hercules Base.  Herrera Hernandez conceded here.

Duel 2

Herrera Hernandez elected to go first.  He started with Spell Power Mastery to add Servant of Endymion from his Deck to his hand.  He activated it, then activated Pendulum Call, discarding Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm to add Black Fang Magician and Oafdragon Magician from his Deck to his hand.  Supreme King Dragon Darkwurm came out of the Graveyard.  Herrera Hernandez Normal Summoned Harmonizing Magician. Both monsters turned into Heavymetalfoes Electrumite and he continued his combo until it looked like this:

Villanueva Priego drew Nibiru, the Primal Being one card too late.  He activated Terraforming to add Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero.  He activated Foolish Burial Goods to send Metalfoes Fusion from his Deck to the Graveyard.  Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero was next, then Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole.  Herrera Hernandez negated Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole with Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon.  Villanueva Priego then used Metalfoes Fusion, putting it back into the Deck to draw a card.  Villanueva Priego activated Pot of Desires, banishing the top 10 cards and Herrera Hernandez chained Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss trying to negate the Spell but Villanueva Priego chained Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor to negate the Dragon’s effect forcing Pot of Desires through!  He also took control of Herrera Hernandez’s Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss.  Herrera Hernandez then used Hieratic Seal of Heavenly Spheres’s effect, tributing it to bounce the field Spell.  The dragon’s Graveyard effect Special Summoned Aether, the Evil Empowering Dragon whose effect banished Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss.  Villanueva Priego continued by activateing Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones which Special Summoned a Sky Striker Ace Token.  The Token was used to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Hayate.  Herrera Hernandez tried to use PSY-Framelord Zeta’s effect but Villanueva Priego negated the effect with Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor and stole that monster too!  Villanueva Priego switched Zeta to Attack Position.  Sky Striker Ace – Hayate swapped out for Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku.  In the Battle Phase, Villanueva Priego had Zeta attack over Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon and Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku attacked over Aether.  In Main Phase 2, Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku swapped for Sky Striker Ace – Kaina which got back Multirole.  Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and Zeta were sent to Link Summon Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze which brought back Herrera Hernandez’s Heavymetalfoes Electrumite!  Both Link Monsters were sent to Link Summon Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior.  Ningirsu’s effect sent itself to the Graveyard and the Oafdragon Magician in Herrera Hernandez’s Pendulum Zone back to the Extra Deck.  Villanueva Priego activated Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole, Set a card and passed.

Villanueva Priego used Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole’s effect to send Sky Striker Airspace – Area Zero to the Graveyard which allowed  Villanueva Priego to Summon Sky Striker Ace – Raye form the Deck.  Sky Striker Ace – Raye attacked directly, leaving Villanueva Priego at 2500 LP (Herrera Hernandez used a Destrudo the Lost Dragon’s Frission during his combo turn.)  Sky Striker Ace – Raye swapped for Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku which attacked for another 1500 leaving Villanueva Priego at 1000 LP.  In the End Phase, Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku’s effect added Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon which as activated to banish Herrera Hernandez’s Dragonpit Magician from the Graveyard.  Then Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole’s effect let Villanueva Priego Set Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor from the Graveyard.

Herrera Hernandez drew but couldn’t find an answer!  He extended the handshake!
