Deck Profile: Ryan Levine’s Top 8 Orcust Deck (featuring Machina Fortress!)
Ryan Levine made it to the Top 8 with his Orcust Deck; but unlike other Orcust Duelists that made the top cut, Levine is using 3 copies of Machina Fortress in his Deck and a couple of other tech cards. Check out the Deck that Ryan Levine used to make it to the Top 8 at YCS Pasadena!

Levine said he also wanted to play a copy of World Legacy – “World Wand” in his Deck, but forgot to write it on his list.

I asked Ryan Levine what makes his Deck different than other Orcust Decks. He replied.
“Machina Fortress and multiple copies of Gizmek. I thought the Orcust cards were very easily stopped. If Scrap Recycler, Armageddon Knight, Dark Grepher, or Mathematician get stopped, you can’t really do anything. But Machina Fortress lets you discard Orcusts so they don’t clog your hand – it puts them in the Graveyard while putting a monster on your field so that you can start making plays.”
Using multiple copies of Machina Fortress and Gizmek helps Levine Summon more monsters than most Orcust Decks can.
Ryan Levine also noted that Pot of Desires is also not usually used in Orcust Decks, but he’s using 3 copies. In addition to drawing him cards, it strengthens his Topologic Zeroboros, which gains 200 ATK for each banished card.
“Going second, I found Topologic Zeroboros to be one of the best cards to win with. I’ll usually have a Gizmek on my opponent’s turn since I play 3. After using Gizmek and Desires, Zeroboros will have a lot of ATK that my opponent can’t deal with. And if I beat my opponent with Zeroboros, it doesn’t matter what I banish with Pot of Desires.”
Levine has 3 copies of Limiter Removal in his Side Deck for when he faces off against Orcust Decks. He believes that going second against other Orcust Decks normally puts him at a disadvantage, but using Limiter Removal can allow him to end the Duel on his first turn when he’s going second. Combining Limiter Removal with Orcustrion makes it even easier to defeat an opponent in one turn.
Ryan Levine didn’t win YCS Pasadena today, but he did come pretty close. Congratulations to him!
