Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational Winter 2020 – Tulsa, OK Wrap-Up!

February 16th, 2020

15 Rounds are complete and the Ultimate Duelist has been named! Shunping Xu from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania bested the competition and will take home the Championship Belt along with all of the perks associated with it!

The competition was fierce this weekend. Top Duelists gathered here in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a chance to win the Championship Belt, and Duelists used all sorts of different Decks and strategies in their pursuit of becoming the Ultimate Duelist. Ignition Assault, Legendary Duelists: Magical Hero, and Structure Deck: Shaddoll Showdown added powerful new cards to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME over the last two months, and the recent Forbidden & Limited List left a lot of uncertainty about which Decks would be strongest in this new era of Dueling.

Many Duelists believed that SPYRAL Decks would triumph this weekend thanks to the addition of Magicians’ Souls from Legendary Duelists: Magical Hero, while others believed that Shaddolls were strongest as a result of the new cards released in Structure Deck: Shaddoll Showdown this past Friday. But in the end, Shunping Xu surprised the Dueling world by winning the tournament with his Rokket Deck, which packed 3 copies of Lightning Storm from Ignition Assault in his Side Deck.

Duelists will delve deeper into the current Advanced Format next weekend at the Team Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series event in Las Vegas. Then, one week later, the final Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational will be held in South America in Bogota, Colombia, giving one last Duelist the opportunity to earn a Championship Belt. But for now, congratulations to Shunping Xu on becoming the Ultimate Duelist this weekend here in Tulsa, Oklahoma!
