Round 4 Feature Match: Amr Hassan vs. Steven Logan

May 28th, 2022

Amr Hassan from Queens, New York is fresh off of a win against well-known Duelist Zachariah Butler in Round 3, and currently sits with a 2-1 record using his Adventurer Blue-Eyes Deck. In addition to it being a Blue-Eyes Deck, there’s something very special about Hassan’s Deck: He’s using highest-rarity versions of virtually every card in his Deck. His Blue-Eyes White Dragons are all from the original Dark Duel Stories video game, and his Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragons are extremely rare promotional cards that were awarded through a contest. Every card that could be a Starlight Rare in his Deck, is a Starlight Rare, and every card in his Deck that could be a Collector’s Rare is a Collector’s Rare. Coolest of all, Hassan is still taking down opponents with the original Blue-Eyes White Dragon in true Seto Kaiba fashion. Now he’s facing off against Steven Logan of Sterling, Virginia and his Sky Striker Deck in this Round 4 Feature Match! It’s time to Duel!

Duel One

Hassan chose to go first and opened up with Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Water Enchantress of the Temple, Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon, and 2 copies of Forbidden Droplet. He banished the Water Enchantress from his hand to get Rite of Aramesir and activated it to play Fateful Adventure from his Deck and Summon an Adventurer Token to the field. Next, he used the effect of Fateful Adventure, but lost out to Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit. He Set a Droplet and then equipped his Adventurer Token with Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon before passing.

Logan Set 2 cards to his back row and passed his turn.

Steven Logan

Hassan drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and then switched his Token into Attack Position. He attacked with his Adventurer Token to drop Logan down to 6000 Life Points and then Normal Summoned Ash Blossom in Main Phase 2. He sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Crystron Halqifibrax and tried to use its effect, but lost out to Logan’s Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.

Logan drew a card and then used Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor in his Standby Phase to negate the Halqifibrax’s effect. Next, he used Lightning Storm to destroy it and passed his turn.

Hassan drew Rite of Aramesir and activated it to Special Summon another Adventurer Token. He attacked with it and passed.

Logan Set a card to his back row and then Set a monster face-down.

Hassan drew The White Stone of Ancients and Summoned it. He attacked Logan’s face-down Ash Blossom with the Stone, losing 1200 Life Points in the exchange, and then attacked Ash Blossom with his Adventurer Token to destroy it. In Main Phase 2, he used The White Stone of Ancients and his Adventurer Token to Link Summon Lyna the Light Charmer, Lustrous and activated its effect to try to Special Summon Ghost Ogre; but Logan Chained Infinite Impermanence to negate its effect. In the End Phase, Hassan Special Summoned Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon from his Deck with the effect of The White Stone of Ancients.

Logan drew a card and then shook his head in disappointment. He Set it face-down to his back row and then ended his turn.

Hassan drew Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring for his turn and then attacked with Lyna. Logan flipped his recently drawn Called by the Grave to banish The White Stone of Ancients and then flipped Widow Anchor. With 3 Spells now in his Graveyard, he negated the effect of Lyna and took control of it for the turn. Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon attacked and destroyed Lyna, inflicting 1150 points of damage to Logan.

Logan drew Sky Striker Ace – Raye! He Normal Summoned it and then sent it to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Hayate. Hassan flipped Forbidden Droplet and sent a Blue-Eyes from his hand to his Graveyard to negate Hayate’s effect. Next, Logan sent Hayate to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and used its effect to return Widow Anchor from his Graveyard to his hand. He activated it to negate the effect of Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon and take control of it, and then attacked directly with Kagari and Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon to drop Hassan down to 1900 Life Points. In Main Phase 2, Logan sent his 2 monsters to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Zeke and then used Zeke to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. He activated Shizuku’s effect in the End Phase, but lost out to Hassan’s Ash Blossom.

Logan used the effect of the Raye in his Graveyard to Special Summon Raye to the field in Defense Position. Jet Dragon attacked Raye, and Logan used Raye’s effect to Tribute it and Special Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kaina to the field. He activated its effect, but Hassan flipped Forbidden Droplet and sent his face-down Scythe to the Graveyard to negate the effect of Kaina.
